7.22: Bon Voyage (May 15th, series finale!)
[Lorelai and Emily do not hug before the series is over.] They do, however, have a really nice moment together — although it's nothing compared to the final scene between Lorelai and Rory, which Lauren described for me during our chat: "It ends with a shot that mirrors the closing shot of the pilot, which really represents the show. It's Lorelai and Rory sitting in the diner talking about really nothing. Just having a moment together." She added that most of the story lines get resolved by the end of the hour. "Had we come back, I think it would've been a little bit like, 'Oops, never mind!'" Source: Michael Ausiello @ TV Guide

Amy Sherman-Palladino's 'famed' last words for a Gilmore Girls series finale will not be heard in 'Bon Voyage'. When asked about the topic, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello responded with the following: Unfortunately, they're not. But as Lauren mentioned in our Q&A, she would've asked AS-P for permission to use her final four words had she known ahead of time that the show was kaput. "I think she would've given it up to me had we known this was the end," she said. "And we would've worked it in." Michael Ausiello @ TV Guide
Show-runner Dave Rosenthal has [...] arranged for Rory to finally come face-to-face with her longtime idol, Christiane Amanpour! According to multiple Girls sources, CNN's internationally renowned newshound will make a cameo in the show's May [15] season (and likely series) finale. Amanpour's scene is still being written, so all that's known at this point is that she will be playing herself. Source: Michael Ausiello @ TV Guide
General Season 7 Spoilers:
After weeks of talks aimed at bringing the show back for a limited run next season, the CW and Warner Bros. TV have decided to wrap production on the quirky dramedy that focused on fast-talking femmes. [The series], now in its seventh season, will air its final episode May 15. [...] CW and WBTV released a joint statement noting the passing Thursday morning. "Announcing the final season of Gilmore Girls is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television," statement read. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters." Source: Variety
The girls had agreed to a 13 week season with a very generous pay increase. All that was needed was the signatures. Then, after the contacts had been drawn up and approved by everyone’s legal team, the girls came back and told the network that they wanted to change the number of episodes down to 8. That was the deal breaker. It wasn’t worth it to the network. Source: SassyPaws @ Television Without Pity
Milo Ventimiglia did dish about a possible return to Gilmore Girls, saying it's "never going to happen" — especially now that Team Palladino have hit the road. "I felt [Jess' story] was done a long time ago, but Dan and Amy kept saying, 'We got some cool things, and we're really hoping you'll be a part of it.' So I went back and I kind of enjoyed what Jess turned into. He turned into a grown-up. Watching that last episode, I was like, 'It's done.'" Source: Michael Ausiello @ TV Guide
