November 2000 News ...

TV's Freshman Class Is Smarter Than Usual, 11.22.00
There's a clever fall arrival being neglected Thursday on another channel, where the WB's new Gilmore Girls, faces off against NBC's same-audience-attracting smash, Friends.

The Thursday, November 30 episode will be a repeat showing of the Pilot for those who missed it the first time around.

Gilmore Girls will be pre-empted on Thursday, November 23 by an extra repeat episode of Charmed. This is most likely due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Episode 7's (Kiss and Tell) overnight ratings rose to 3.7/5 compared to last week's 3.5/6. The WB's strategy of welcoming viewers switching from Friends at 8:30 by recaping the last 1/2 hour right as they go back from commercial seems to be working. The show peaked in 8:30 - 9:00 time period to 4.1/6 compared to 3.9/6 last week.

The Viewers for Quality Television have named Gilmore Girls as the Best New Drama and the Best Written New Series. Lorelai Gilmore is named as the Most Interesting New Character and Lauren Graham is named Best Actress in a New Series.

The WB has announced ordering six more episodes of Gilmore Girls.

When Felicity finishes its initial run on Wednewsday, December 13 the WB will air a special holiday episode of the Gilmore Girls on Wednesday, December 20 at 9:00pm.
