Gilmore Girls at the Ebell Theatre, 09.26.01 ...

On the dates of September 25th and 26th 2001, the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles was used by the cast and crew of Gilmore Girls for an upcoming episode. Titled "Presenting Lorelai Gilmore" the episode features many extras dressed in gowns and tuxedos that are a part of a debutante ball.

I arrived at the Ebell Theatre around 11:00am on the 26th with my friend Lindsey. Upon immediate arrival, I saw Lauren Graham (Lorelai) and Alexis Bledel (Rory). Each of the actresses was also dressed in a gown for the episode. Lauren had her hair pulled back in a low ponytail and Alexis had it in an up do. Within the next hour, I also saw Edward Herrmann (Richard), Kelly Bishop (Emily), and Jared Padalecki (Dean). Again, each actor was dressed in formal attire.

Since I didn't have my camera with me, I decided to go home and come back a little later. I ended up returning to the Ebell Theatre at 5:00pm.

While I did see all of the Gilmore Girls cast members listed above, Alexis Bledel was the only one I actually talked to. She walked by me a couple times throughout the day, so I finally decided to ask if she would mind if I took her photo. She said that would be fine and my friend Jeff took a photo of Alexis and me. Sadly, the flash didn't go off so I was worried the photo would not turn out.

About 20 minutes later, Alexis again walked by and Jeff asked if we could take another photo with the flash on. So we posed, but the flash still did no go off. However, Alexis said she thought it would turn out since the sun was still out. We said a couple other sentences to each other, and then Alexis went off to work. (By the way, she was holding a big book when I first asked her for a photo. I don't know if it was a prop or her own book, so try and look for it in this episode.)

I would like to take a moment to thank Lindsey (who went with me originally) and Jeff (who went back with me later). I basically disrupted their whole day, so I thank them greatly for joining me. Also, many thanks to the extras and crewmembers that I talked to.
