I am really enjoying Parenthood a lot. I have watched both episodes at least a dozen if not more times. It is no Gilmore Girls, thank God, but I do think that it is a great show. It started out a bit slow in a sence and yet fast because they had to go through so many story lines to introduce the whole cast and give us a bit of where they are at and where they are going to be going in such a short time. I am sure that will slow down and each week will probably just do main stories on a few of the family members and maybe just touch base on the others. I really do think that if NBC will give it a chance and not snatch it away from us, it can really be a great show. I laugh, I cry, I am happy for them for some things and then I am sad for them for other. I think that the dynamics of this family is really great. They may argue about stuff, but they will always be there for each other. I love Lauren in this and think that she brings so much to the role. I love Peter Krause in here, too. Heck, I love them all. They are all actors that I have seen and enjoyed in other things. I have loved Mae Whitman since I first saw her in When a Man Loves a Woman. They all fit together as a family and are perfect for their parts.
I don't like to compare anyone from one project to another, each one is new and each character is different and the one I am seeing is the only one that I see. If that makes sence. Example, while watching Sarah, I am not thinking of Lorelai or comparing the two. However, while watching this, I do catch some things that remind me of things that happened in GG. For instance Jim kept the ring all those years and Luke kept the horiscope. Little things like that pop up from time to time.
I like Adam and his family and feel bad that they have to deal with Max's aspergers, but then I think that it could be a lot worse. It is going to be hard to learn how to deal with it and learn what they need to to help Max, but once they get it all together, Max will be able to function fairly normally from what I understand. I wonder how Haddie is going to deal with it what with Max going to need more of his parents attention. I am sure that the WHOLE family will be there for Max, Haddie, Kristina and Adam.
I feel bad for Sarah having to move back in with her parents and for Amber and Drew as well. I hope that it will work out for them. I am sure there will be bumps in the road, but it will work out. I know what she is going through because I had to do the same thing only for different reasons. Amber seems like a troubled rebellious kid, yet she took the blame for the weed even though it wasn't her fault. She actually is a good kid, she just needs to be listened to and trusted more. By the end of epi 2, you can see that starting to happen. Drew really needs a responsible male in his life to talk to and to do things with and it looks like Adam is going to be there for him. I have had to deal with this as well.
Julia is a bit too hign strung and needs to loosen up a bit. I feel bad that Sydney would rather be with Joel than her, but then I guess most dad's have that happening, too, especially if the wife stays home to take care of the kids. I really feel bad for Julia that Sydney seems to be pretty close with this b****, Raquel (sp). I am sure that will change soon.
Crosby is really going to have to grow-up fast and take on his parental responsibilitis with Jabbar. It will be interesting as to what is going to happen with Katie. Crosby is really funny.
And then there is Zeek and Camille. They are really funny, especially Zeek. They seem like they were really layed back parents. Their story lines are going to be good.
It is really great having Lauren back on tv and on tuesday nights again and I really can see this show growing into something great if, like I said earlier, NBC gives it a chance. I am hoping that more people will tune in to check it out. A lot of people watched the pilot thinking that it was going to be a comedy because that is what the promos pushed, but then didn't come back because that wasn't all that it was/is. I am hoping that more people will tune in once they find out that it is more of a drama with comedic spots thrown in. If you haven't already figured it out, I really do like this show and can't wait for tuesday.
