Classic line...
EMILY: But you don't like football.
LORELAI: Well, no, I'm not the diehard fan that, say, you are, Mom, but it's Rory's school.

LORELAI: Oh, wait, are you Pennilyn Lott, my dad's college sweetheart?
PENNILYN: Yes.
LORELAI: You're my almost-mommy.
PENNILYN: Well, I suppose you could put it that way.
LORELAI: I'm so glad to finally meet you. Let me ask you something - would you have let me get a pony?

This was a cute episode, I loved Richard and Emily's idea of tailgating.  Very classy.  And that fun flask...

The fun flask...great.  I love how at the end Lorelai and Jason were drinking out of it.

I didn't mind Jason...I love Luke for Lorelai, but Jason's not that bad, he just has bad timing.  Their supermarket date was cute.

Paris and the Professor, gross.  I always hated that, but it's just bad every time.

And Emily getting all mad, I think she's justified, because 39 years of lunches that she didn't know about is a lot...and if Richard was fine with it, why didn't he tell her?  I can see not right away, but after a few years...

Oh I agree about Jason. Luke isthe best out of them all question. But I adore Jason, I thought he was just as witty as Lorelai was. I like this eppy a lot, the Fun Flask is histerical. The Lorelai/Pennelin Lot interaction was so funny.

I like Jason. I belong to the small minority who think Lorelai should stick with the minor characters AKA Max and Jason.

I like Jason, too! I pretty much share the exact same opinion as violaplayer1234, it was just really bad timing. Jason was hysterical to me. =)

I agree with you.

&
One of my favorite episodes! Emily's button, froggy, Loralei's 'harvard' clothes, 'almost' mommy, Paris' winning and losing pictures! Love it.

How hilarious was Froggy in this episode?!!  Grin

RORY: Oh, my God.
LORELAI: What?
RORY: He hired Brennon Lewis.
LORELAI: You know him?
RORY: I went to junior high with him.
LORELAI: And?
RORY: Ew!
LORELAI: He doesn't look that bad.
RORY: He's the boy who dissected a frog, did not wash his hands, and then ate a sandwich.
LORELAI: Ew!
RORY: He's like the lost Farrelly brother. He's so stupid. He watched "The Breakfast Club" and decided to tape his own butt cheeks together.
LORELAI: Okay, so Mensa's not sending him a t-shirt yet, but Luke has hired him so we have to give him a chance.

BRENNON: You have the pancakes?
LORELAI: We sure do.
RORY: Hi, Brennon.
BRENNON: Hey.
RORY: Rory Gilmore. Um, we went to school together.
BRENNON: Yeah?
RORY: You don't remember. Biology - the frog?
BRENNON: There have been a lot of frogs, man.
RORY: Okay. Thanks for the food.
BRENNON: Yep. [walks away]
LORELAI: Your kids will be gorgeous.

LORELAI: Ever since you hired Brennon, the little spark has gone out of your eyes.
LUKE: It has?
LORELAI: Yes, it has. And I am here to tell you that it is hell watching you go through this, so I think for your own sake, you should fire Froggy.
LUKE: Froggy?
LORELAI: Uh, Brennon.
LUKE: You want me to fire Brennon, why?
LORELAI: The spark. Remember the spark?
LUKE: Why do you want me to fire Brennon?
LORELAI: Come back, little spark, come back.
LUKE: Lorelai.
LORELAI: He doesn't write the orders down, he never brings you food that's hot or yours, he can't distinguish bagels from doughnuts, he hands out butt napkins, and he has worn that Foreigner t-shirt every single day since he started working here and he doesn't know who they are. I asked him.

MISS PATTY: We're sorry, Luke. We really are.
LUKE: You're sorry about what?
KIRK: About not eating at your diner anymore.
LUKE: You're not eating at my diner anymore? Why?
MISS PATTY: We hate the kid.
LUKE: Brennon?
KIRK: Brennon, Satan, whatever.
LUKE: Wait a minute, don't you think you're all just overreacting a little bit? He's just a kid.
GYPSY: A really weird kid. He'll be looking directly at you and start laughing. No one knows why. He's just there, laughing.
LUKE: He laughs? That's why you hate him? The kid laughs?
KIRK: You'd have to hear it.

that was so funny it made it one of my favorite episodes! when paris and asher kissed i throw up a little, serouisly

In the film The Breakfast Club one of the characters is in detention for taping another guy's butt cheeks together. He describes what happened including how painful it was for that guy! lol!

That was a singularly hilarious glimpse into Luke's self-esteem issues. The town found Brian peculiar and revolting, but Luke actually identified with him, seeing himself at that age in Brian's social vagueness and repetitive use of the same T-shirt. Ha, at least finding he couldn't stand "himself," reminded him he was a different person in the present!

I also thought the advanced characterization of Emily was clever. I mean, not everyone could be absolutely certain that no one who knew Pennilyn also knew about Lorelai's Dragonfly, but she snaps out total recall on the guest list for Rory's sixteenth birthday party when Rory reintroduces her to Paris. Hah, how on earth did Richard think he could keep anything from her?

It's funny, Emily's jealousy plays out a lot like Luke's jealousy of Christopher in FFy town, so why does she extract so much more sympathy? Is it more okay for a wife to be insanely jealous over a stupid lie than a boyfriend?

My favourite bits of the episode are the ones at the Harvard-Yale game.
Like, the fun flask!

And the tailgating party.

Lol, I love Lorelai, she's so funny!

I was just rewatching the entire series and I couldn't get over the famous repetitive reference to the fun flask. Hah, Lorelai must have stashed it at the appearance of Emily's bloody marys. I also loved the way Marty referred to Richard as Obi Wan in honor of his advanced naked manness.
