Seventeen (Jan. 2003) - Don't confuse Liza Weil with her bitchy TV persona, Paris Geller. On The WB's GIlmore Girls, Paris is an overacheiver who claws her way to the top of everything, often leaving Rory scratched up in the process. But when we meet the soft-spoker 22-year-old actress, she's nothing like the pushy character she plays. (Paris tried to sabotage Rory's chances of getting in Harvard and her relationship with Dean.) For starters, Liza hated high school. "Being into acting made you an outcast loser at my school. Plus, I was the worst student ever," she says. What's more, she came down with a very un-Paris-like case of nerves before her seventeen photo shoot (her very first magazine feature!). Still, there may be more similarities between her and little Miss Snotty than Liza lets on. After all, the role was written specifically for her. "I auditioned for Rory's role," she says. "I didn't get it, but the producers said they would create a part for me." Liza was startled when she read the first script. "I was like, 'Oh, my God, is this how they see me?' I didn't understand it was actually really flattering. There is some of me in Paris--both of us can be hyperfocused and passionate about things. But Paris had a very exaggerated version of my neurosis," says Liza Whew! -Dina Sansing
It's old, but I wasn't going to type it out from the page and let it just sit on a floppy.
