Lane's family

Lanes whole family thing is odd. She mentiones her Dad in the beginning on the series and now he's nowhere. Now that Lane has moved out her Mom has the whole store to herself (so it would seem). Do you guys think it would of been better if you would of seen both of Lanes parents in the show? I think so. :)

I don't know, that's a tough question! I like it just the way it is though, just her mom being on I mean. But it would be nice too find out who and what her dad looks like!

I think we've discussed that on the old forum and realized that Lane's dad is a total mystery... ;) He was mentioned sometimes but had never shown up...

In my mind I decided that Lane's dad passed away when she was young.  Whether or not this is actually true.... well whatever.  It just doesn't make sense that a good korean man would be away from his family for any reason.  This could also explain Mrs. Kim's overprotectiveness.   :)

It's always been my suspicion that Lane's dad was, in fact, Kirk. Think about it.  ;)

To me Mrs. Kim is so obsessed with keeping Korean traditions and religion that I just can't fathom that Lane would have a father living and breathing in Stars Hollow.  Well, maybe it is Kirk and Mrs. Kim pushes Lane so much to make up for her own mistakes.

I tend to go for the "Lane's dad passed away" hypothesis cuz I don't know if you all noticed but in one of the episode from the past seasons, when Lane went secretly into her mom's room at night and gave her mom a kiss while she was asleep, there was only Mrs. Kim in bed. I would assume a husband to sleep next to his wife but nobody was there. The other hypothesis is that Lane's dad is working in another country and so that's why we never see him around town. The fact that he's never around not even on xmas or in those family reunions that Mrs Kim hold kind of make me go for the first hypothesis instead.

Kirk as her dad.. I don't know heheehee.. It can go two ways I guess. Remember how Mrs Kim always wanted Lane to date Korean boys. So I think she herself wouldn't have married a non Korean man. She seems so into bibles and the Korean culture so I'm guessing she would have respected her own parents when she was younger.

It can also be that Mrs Kim did in fact marry or date and had Lane with Kirk (LOL, can't stop laughing at the thought), had a lesson and so is trying by all means to prevent Lane from taking the path she has taken before?!? (I don't know.....  :P)

Lane has come a long way over the years, and she has done very well putting up with Rory as a best friend. I admire her!! She has great honesty to herself and what she wants and believes in!!!
In the early episodes she rebelled against her mother with the music and the image but hid it, and now she has taken that passion and made it her life, with the band and all!!! The tour in the churches just shows how much she is prepared to do in order to succeed in her life!! The show used to focus on Rory's success and Chilton and Yale but now Rory is at a standstill, Lane is flourishing!!! I think its great!!!! :)

and BubbleTea, i think your theory sounds possible, if Kirk was to be Lane's dad (?? :-\) Mrs. Kim has been trying to prevent Lane following in her footsteps!!
