Haha I like how you think chic!  :D The show definetly could have had more making out.

Or that could have been half the show, and the other half Literati fluff...

No, there would have to be some drama in there!

Haha I believe we think alike darling. Some much forshadowing in the early episodes!  :smitten:

Yes. When I first walked in on my mom watching a rerun of the first season (when the show was in its third) I asked her who the plaid man was. She said "That's Luke, and the woman with the brown hair is Lorelai. The other woman is Rachel, and she and Luke are dating, but Lorelai's going to end up with Luke, because they're so perfect for each other." My mother and I share a very strong hatred of Rachel, Nicole, Max, Alex, Jason, and Christopher.

I LoVe drama! Its a beautiful love/hate relationship we have. But omg yes I hate Chris, Rachel, Nicole, etc. They were all so annoying and kept getting in Luke and Lorelais way.

Wow, you are the first person i know ofwho hated Rachel! Everyone loved her! She didn't stand in the way between Luke and Lorelai, if anything she helped Luke to face his feelings towards Lorelai at least for a few minutes.

She did help him realize but really I believe Luke always knew. Rachel was just a way of showing Luke did have a love life in the past and that he isnt a totally flannel man who sits around in his diner. Rachel was a fun lively character but she wasnt meant to last. Her prupose was short lived.

Too true, too true. When I write fanfiction, I just exclude Rachel. From everything.

I mean, Rachel was nice, but she was with Luke. Which just about destroys anything that could be even remotely good about her. Ever.

Word, Rachel I personally think could have be placed differently for fans to love to and have her on the show for a long extension of time instead of short. But since they put her with Luke that girl just had to go.

After now seeing all of the episodes of this show.  I must say that if there was a moment that I think really encompassed the love between Luke and Lorelai.  It was in the final episode and what Luke said to Lorelai.  "I just... want to see you happy".  His face and how emotional he was said it all and after all those years of not finding Mr. Right, broken engagements, bad relationships, and a misguided marriage.  Lorelai Gilmore finally realizes that Luke Danes is truly the one man in her life.

It really does take a moment.  After all, all of Lorelai's exes couldn't do what Luke could do.

Sure, Max bought a thousand daisies to profess his love for Lorelai.  Alex could get her all the coffee in the world.  Jason can help her annoy her mother.  And Christopher can take on her spontaneous romantic dates, trips to Paris, and all that stuff.

Yet, none of them compared to what Luke has done.  Everything else all those other guys did were fleeting.  They were just moments that have come and go.  It's Luke just serving coffee, making food, fixing things, being there for her and Rory, helping out at parties, dealing with her parents, and do smaller things I think really made more of an impact in Lorelai's own life than the rest of those guys can do.  It was Luke's heart that won Lorelai over.

For Luke, he'd be incomplete with Lorelai and vice versa.  There may have been a few women in the past but none of them were Lorelai.  Rachel may have sparked him a bit along with Anna while Nicole shared her dislike of Taylor with Luke.  None of them could be Lorelai.  After all, Lorelai is the one person he could go to if he is having trouble with Jess, dealing with things surrounding his family, and even take her advice on certain things.  If it wasn't for Lorelai, I think Luke would still be this grouchy, distant, unemotional diner owner with not much going for him.  Because Lorelai and Rory, he gained a heart and the ability to be more open and accessible.  Those girls meant a lot to him.  Lorelai gave him a lot of things including the chance to be with his own daughter.  Rory gave Luke the idea that not all kids are annoying.

For Lorelai.  If Luke had never existed.  I think she wouldn't have the stability that she had craved so long.  She would end up being in one date, a brief relationship and another and another.  It would just be continuous and unfulfilling.  All she would have to stablize her is Rory.  I think with a lot of those relationships, Lorelai gets a chance to act like a young kid but it would be fleeting and all of those guys she was with wouldn't be able to keep up her eccentricities or to put up with them.  Plus, I think they would have a hard time fitting Rory into their life with the exception of Christopher in some aspects.  I think Luke in many ways, grounded her a bit.  Got her to slow down a bit.  Make her feel more like an adult and find ways to have Rory in the mix.

Really, I don't think there will be a couple that is as enduring as Luke and Lorelai.  Luke is pretty much the idea of what I think women would want in a man and Lorelai is the kind of person a man would want in a woman.  They both bring the best in each other.  He can put with her quirkiness, she can put up with his grouchiness.  There's times that they fight and get on each other's nerves.  Yet, it seems like they can enjoy getting on each other's nerves.  Plus, they have something that I don't think anyone has in terms of having that great relationship and middle.  By the end of the series, it seems like they're more compatible than ever.  They have more things in common and more struggles.  They both have daughters from previous relationships in which they can share their own happiness and anxieties in being a parent.  Really, if there was a list of the great TV couples in the history of television.  I'm pretty sure that Luke and Lorelai would be in the top 10-top 20 of that list.  They're just that much fun to watch.

I agree that Luke and Lorelai were a great match.  The chemistry between the two actors made it that way.  They played off each other well and were believable as a couple, despite their personality differences.

Lorelai would always return to Luke for the stability he brought to her life, even after having a quickie on the balcony with Christopher early in series.  This theme was common throughout the series.  When she needed someone to give her confidence and reassure her, she always turn to Luke.

Christopher and Lorelai weren't believable together.  I could never see the chemistry between them, despite the lifelong relationship they were supposed to have.

I thought Max Medina was a good match, more so than Christopher, but again not much chemistry.

Alex was just a guy.  A woman as hot as Lorelai, can't be dateless for too long.  So why not bring in a guy who to fill the role.  I doubt if there was ever any plan to keep them together for long.

Digger was actually a good match to me.  They played off each other well and I could see them together, and he seemed to morph into Luke with the scruffy beard.  However, they seemed to have different value systems.

In the first scene in the pilot episode as Lorelai walks into Luke's, the song playing in the background was a hint to me, in hindsight, that Luke had the hots for her before the show picked up.

Neither Luke nor Lorelai had been in long term relationships and the immaturity they exhibited is because of the lack of experience in dealing someone in a commited relationship.

In the end, they both evolved and I think the writers tried to show that at the end of the final season.
An eight season would have been nice to see how much more the relationship evolved.

I predict a movie will be made someday. In every interview Lauren Graham does, the show is prominently mentioned, keeping it out there for people to talk about.

I so would love to have a Gilmore Girls movie.

I have a good idea of how it should start.  Just like the way the pilot began except with different shots of the entire town like the show had been the whole time.  Lorelai Gilmore walking around and then going into the diner while Luke is pouring coffee.  She grabs a mug and asks him for some coffee.  He says no but she pesters him and he gives in saying "Junkie..." and she says, "Angel, you have wings baby".  Then as she's drinking, she says, "oh honey, could you pour some coffee into these little mugs showing two kids sitting on a stool wanting some cofee as Luke says "no way, I'm not giving our kids any coffee".  The kids plea with him as he ends up giving them chocolate milk as he says, "you're both as bad as your mother" as they say "thank you daddy".

That sounds like a good start, I assume they would be twins and girls.  If they do a movie, they should not pick up where things ended, time should pass by as it has.  Based on the last episode of season 7, it can be assumed that Lorelai and Luke went on their boat trip and probably were married on the trip.

The big event could be a Rory wedding.  To whom I don't know, Jess would be my pick, to keep it in the family, in a way.

Since Amy Sherman-Palladino's last show bombed, I would bet that she has a finished outline, at the minimum, of a Gilmore Girls movie or mini series.  It would be nice to see things wrapped up a little better.

I agree that it shouldn't pick up where it left off.

I would prefer to set the film five-six years after the ending of the series.  Luke and Lorelai now live in a revamped, expanded version of the Crap Shack with more rooms plus pictures of the Gilmore-Danes 7 meaning Luke, Lorelai, Rory, April, two unnamed kids, and Paul Anka.  Plus pictures of the Luke-Lorelai wedding at the Gilmore cottage at Martha's Vineyard, and other family pictures including one with Richard and Emily plus Luke's family.

I'm not sure about a Rory wedding.  I think she's got a whole career ahead of her.  I'm a Jess dude myself but I would rather have it be either Logan or someone different, not Dean.  Jess though, would be Rory's step-cousin and older brother to Doula and (whatever kid Liz and T.J. decide to bring).  It would be a bit weird though the chemistry between the two would be there as family.

And since Luke and Lorelai will have been married at this point.  This means Lorelai kind of owns the diner and Luke kind of owns the Dragonfly and both businesses by this point, will be doing very well.  Even more if Lorelai took Emily's advice to add a spa to the Dragonfly.

I've been watching from afar the new Gilmore girls fandom on Tumblr (tumblr.... My how times have changed since the org..) and the most surprising thing to me is how few java junkie fans there are any more! Everyone is wicked interested in Rory (I had an opinion but I never really was that invested in her relationships) and it's always a Dean vs Jess fight! The question is... Where did all the good Java junkie fans go?
