Max Medina / Scott Cohen Appreciation

It has come to my attention that I am not alone in my love for Lorelai's first fiance, Max Medina, so I thought I would start a thread in his honor.  Perhaps we can make a list of what we love about him?

Why we love Max Medina:
1.  Because he knew how to treat a girl. 
2.  Because he taught English (maybe that's just me!).
3.  Because he cared about Lorelai and Rory.
4.  Because he proposed to Lorelai with a 1000 yellow daisies.  (Yes, it was her idea, but he followed through!)
5.  Because while he's being sexy, he's also being grammatically correct.  (added by Fanny! aka Kukalaka)
6.  Because he's a wonderful man.
7.  Because he's good at the comforting thing.
8.  Because he's such a good provider.
9.  Because he gave Lorelai and Rory RingPops.
10.Because he tried to be late.
11.Because he needs 10 feet.
12.Because Lorelai makes him stupid.
13.Because he came back from California.

Tell me why you love Max, and I'll add your reasons to the list!  And if anyone has a cute name for fans of Max, suggest those too!

I'm not good with lists, so someone else will have to contribute that way.  But, yay! for a Max thread.  I first saw Scott Cohen as Wolf in the 10th Kingdom.  Which made my third crush on an animal (Disney's fox Robin Hood and Justin the rat from The Secret of Nimh being the others).    But, getting to Max, I agree with what you said.  A man who loves literature and wants to share it with others?   And, 1000 yellow daisies?  I've heard people say the fact that it was her idea makes it less romantic, but I don't see it. Going out of your way to fulfill someone's fantasy seems completely romantic to me.


And, it wasn't just his relationship with Lorelai.  Sweetest scene was Rory interviewing him after the wedding was called off, and they acknowledged that they wished they could have been stepfather/stepdaughter. 

Lorelai is my absolute favorite character on the show, but I think overall, she treated Max badly.  Not for breaking up with him.  That was a good thing if she wasn't ready for a commitment like that.  But, running away like she did.

I totally agree here. I liked most of the scenes he had with Rory. The one you talked about was one of the best, but I also liked the one before Parent's Day, when Max asked Rory if her mother will come too. The thing with the cookies was so sweet.

And here's another reason Lorelai (and we) love him: while he's being sexy, he's also being grammatically correct.

I'm an avid JJ, but I liked Max as well. He was such a sweetie, and really kind to both of them. Although he had a few sweater crisises...bless him, heh. I think we've seen the last of him, but I hope somewhere in the Gilmore universe he found a decent other half, he deserves it!

Yes he definately deserves someone.  I was rooting for Max when they were engaged, and even though I am a JJ, I didn't really become a big one until after Max was out of the picture.

I'll have to think over the list and the name thing.

I like Max and I hope he finds someone good for him. He and Lorelai were cute but Lorelai belongs with Luke. I hope he does come on at some point again not to cause problems just to see how he's doing. Even if It doesn't matter now.

Aww, I love that last one!  It was so cute how he knew Lorelai's quirks and tried to respond accordingly.  He was just such a great boyfriend.  I do hope somewhere in TV world Max has a wonderful girlfriend.

I just had some minutes time, so I looked through the transcipts. And I loved that scene too. It's really hard for some people (including me) to be too late.

THey were a good mathc, but I'm an avid JJ, so the most I can say that is I hope he goes far, bless him .

Yeah, I'm a total JJ too, but I wasn't so hard core during the first season, so when Max came into the picture I was like, "Awww, he's an English teacher and he's sexy. I want to date him."  Haha.  I do think that in the long run things probably wouldn't have worked out for them, but he was great on the show.

I'm a JJ, but I have to admit that they had some hot make out scene's. They had more passion then LL...well what they show us of LL that is.
