I happen to know that my daughter is uber obsessed with GG. We have seasons 1-6 and seven is on reserve for its release date. She has spent all of her allowance money on the GG CD, all of the books that they have posted on Amazon, and oh yeah, she has even tried to convince me to by the big pack, because, well, she needs her own copy for her room. I seriously asked her if she was smoking crack, because the package to date has cost approximately $400 with shipping and handling over the past three years.
My kid has been watching Gilmore Girls since the very first time the piolt aired. We have never had cable or satellite, because when the show first started we lived out in the sticks in Wyoming. The WB was one of the only channels we picked up on the antenna. The WB, CBS, and PBS. So, if there is a Gilmore Girls episode that I haven't seen seven hundred times in the past few years, I couldn't tell you which one it is.
As a mom, I can honestly say that no one should be worried overly much by a young girls obsession with this show. It is nice to know that my daughter idolizes two characters that face what comes with humor and aplomb. So much better than the backstabbing, crazy talking, material possession obsessed people that have replaced a truly original and innovative show.
Too bad that Scott Patterson found another role so quickly. Aliens Among Us. This might sound horrible, but I don't want to see any of them in other roles myself.
