Sooks, as mentioned, I was at Vic. Secret  :D  The Spice Girls music made me sad, but the store made me happy.  I was doing some Christmas shopping for my GF.  Anywhoo...

Some have asked for some new music recommendations from the indie scene.  Well, here come a few...as always...in my humble opinion ::)

Bowerbirds - In our Talons : check out this song from a new 2007 band.  Its pretty darn catchy and I dig it a lot!
A Girl Called Eddy: Some mellow grooviness and a nice voice to boot, check out "eddy" when you can!
Amusement Parks on Fire: I have mentioned them before, an "aural assault." and to believe its only one guy!  This friggin' rocks!!!
Beulah: fun and poppy with some catchy lyrics
Troubled Hubble: see comments above!
Built for the Sea: wow, her voice is amazing!  I think they only have an EP out, but if you do some snooping, you can find more of their stuff

Gosh, there is just so much out there, its hard to give recommendations.  If anyone can find my myspace page, I have a long list of some of my favorite bands on there.  It needs to be updated, but you should be able to find something you like in it.

Ok, I think we started this a while back...if you put your IPOD, mp3 player, etc, on shuffle, what are the first 10 songs that come on when you play it?  For me its...
1. Verve Pipe - The Freshman
2. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings - 100 Days, 100 Nights
3. Gorillas - Clint Eastwood
4. 1986 - Laughing
5. The Belles - Idle Acres
6. Go Go Go Airhart - So Good
7. Polara - Jet Pack Blues
8. June of '44 - Sanctioned In A Birdcage
9. Orenda Fink - No Evolution
10. Boyskout - Secrets

Ok, I'll do the shuffle thing:

1. Blonde Redhead - Misery is a Butterfly
2. My Little Airport - You Don't Wanna Be My Girlfriend, Phoebe
3. Howling Bells - Broken Bones
4. Sarah Blasko - Always Worth It
5. Magic Dirt - Locket
6. Bjork - Aurora
7. Rilo Kiley - Dreamworld
8. Juliana Hatfield - No Outlet
9. PJ Harvey - C'Mon Billy
10. Regina Spektor - Somedays

Sig made by me, 'cause I'm awesome and unique!

Ok so here's the shuffle thingey!

1. If I Ever Lose My Faith In You - Sting.
2. Torn -Natalie Imbruglia
3. I don't wanna Miss a thing -Aerosmith
4. Embryo - Black Sabbath
5. The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve
6. Maybe I know - Lesley Gore
7. I want you now - The Feeling
8. Aeroplane - Bjork  (so wierd that me and Kupo get Bjork on our list of 10!)
9. Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
10. All the Way to Reno - R.E.M

Ok so after reading Sooks really interesting like music through life thing I feel the need to share!

So growing up even though I grew up in the 90s the only 90s bands I really listened to were S Club 7 (lol!) but really through my childhood the music I liked was really the music from my parents generation - The Beatles, Queen, David Bowie, Sting + the police, Pink Floyd and loads of others from the seventies like Diana Ross was a big hit! And I still love all of those. for a while I wasn't really into music I just listened to whatever my family played really which is why I love loads of old songs! But recently I've been listening to more radio and broadening my musical horizons. The first CD I bought was about 2 years ago (I know that's not long ago but I am young!) and that was Kelly Clarkson (wierd I know!), then I bought Snow Patrol and my music taste started to get better from there onwards I now like things like The Fray, The Killers, The Kinks, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Fratellis, The Ramones, Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, The Plain White T's, Scouting For Girls, The Feeling, Razorlight, Green Day, My Chemical Romance (emo but kinda good!) Keane, and oh so much more!!

I must admit, I've never heard anything from the Legally Blond musical. I love musicals! Though lately, there's been so many new ones that I can't keep up. I miss seeing them, so maybe I'll have to get to one this holiday season. :)

the songs in legally blonde: the musical are really funny and entertaining; most of the characters are so ditzy! "She's trapped in the old valley mill? Opps, sorry. The old valley mall?!" lol  ;D

Does anyone like the Trans-Siberian Orchestra? I like their music around the holidays. I just saw a few videos of them live on Youtube. I thought that it was a full orchestra playing with the guitar players...but much to my surprise...it's NOT! :o I was a bit disappointed because the sound is so full! It's amazing what you can do with a few violins and a synthesizer!! haha I do like the modern feel they have, yet classical in a way. Good stuff!

i love <333333 the trans-siberian orchestra. I was really shocked too when i found out it wasn't a full orchestra. Their music is so amazing. I especially like the "christmas canon" song they do to pachelbel's "canon in D". I also love how they bring a modern feel to classical music--it gets more people interested into the classical genre.
Narco:Because I love you, you idiot!

I want to play!!

The Heart of Saturday Night -- Tom Waits
Sleeping Lessons -- The Shins
Mt. St. Helens -- Mirah
It's Only Divine Right -- The New Pornographers
Side with the Seeds -- Wilco
Cause = Time -- Broken Social Scene
Hide and Seek -- Imogen Heap
Golden Years -- David Bowie
The Cold Part -- Modest Mouse
Shanty for the Arethusa -- The Decemberists

but my shuffle left out my two favorites: Jenny Lewis and Ryan Adams. Both genius. Both hot.

8. Aeroplane - Bjork  (so wierd that me and Kupo get Bjork on our list of 10!)

Haha, whoo! Go Bjork! (She's probably my favourite...)

Honestly, I don't have any interesting "music throughout my life" stories. I basically listened to mainstream, until about 3 and a half years ago, when I started to branch out and listen to new things. From then on, I embraced the internet to find a whole heap of music I listen to now (I'm still always finding things, and that's cool, I love new music!). I sadly have a cd obsession, which has probably cost me too much money (as also my dvd's), but I love my cds more. I think I currently have about 349 cds? A total of 391 seperate discs? (Okay, so maybe I was bored and counted them the other day...I'm such a nerd!  :P)

Well, this post was highly uninteresting! I'm sure you other members out there have a more interesting story...

Edit: haileyerin, I have a massive crush on Jenny Lewis, it's not funny!  :P

You guys have such varied bands on your iPods! I don't know what mine would play but I don't have time to try right now...though I will be back!

I think those bands that you suggested, Rupe, sound very interesting. I will have to look into them. I don't know about how well I like indie music but it's worth a try because I'm in the market for new music right now!!!

Thanks for the story, Kupo! I had a CD obession for awhile but it sadly ended when downloading and iTunes came about. Though there's nothing like getting the total package of an album, with artwork and booklet and all. I still get certain albums just for those thing! But iTunes has made it so much easier and faster to obtain the music that I want so badly!!

I wonder what will happen with the music industry in the next 10 years?! I wonder what will happen with CD sales? I wonder how much bigger buying songs online will get instead of purchasing a CD?

Please read the Forum Rules and enjoy~

Nope, there's nothing like getting a proper physical CD! I use iTunes to get songs I cannot find at all on CD, otherwise everything else has a proper CD copy!

I agree I much prefer a CD to iTunes.  Plus I like have the little note book with lyrics and everything.  I really just prefer it.  I am really into the Hairspray soundtrack at the moment that movie is sooo awesome
