Very cute Rory-picture ... (love my dvds!)
Since I'm a soulgirl, I was very excited at the "new Stevie Wonder album" news, but too bad: it's okay, but mushy and I especially am a fan of the '70s funky style ...

At the moment, I love the music of the Bollywood movies. My playlist has 800 songs: rock, pop, jazz, swing, country, oldies...

I'm into so many bands that I lose track sometimes. These are all of my CDs (yes, in alphabetical order): The Arcade Fire, The Ataris, Brand New, Bright Eyes, The Clash, Copeland, The Cure, Death Cab for Cutie, Death From Above 1979, The Decemberists, The Early November, Fall Out Boy, The Format, Franz Ferdinand, (I am conveniently leaving out Green Day, because I feel like by putting that I'm saying "Look at me! I like the cool music!"), The Good Life, The Killers, Letter Kills, Modest Mouse, Motion City Soundtrack, My Chemical Romance, Northstar, The Postal Service, Relient K, Rilo Kiley, Rooney, RUDY, Saves the Day, Say Anything, The Shins, The Smiths, Something Corporate, The Sounds, The Stills, Straylight Run, Taking Back Sunday, Waking Ashland, and Weezer. Yes, music is a pretty big thing for me.

I'm getting into Metric. Canadian band, but they are getting quite a bit of US attention. Anyone ever heard of them?

No, Yahoo!Launch-ing them, though. I'm in love with Dar Williams. She's amazing, in my book. I used to be way more into grrrrl-power-rock than what I like to call "feminist folk" but it flips back and forth between Dar Williams, Ani DiFranco and the Indigo Girls (feminist folk) and Tegan & Sara and Veruca Salt (rock-ier). Check out Tegan & Sara, though, if you like Franz Ferdinand, etc. They're really awesome!

Tell me you did not just say that. Please. *Shiver* Ughhhh. I hate them oh so much. THey are from my province, and I just...no. Ick. Whatever, though, I'm not about critizing music choice. What ever makes you happy! I just downloaded some Elliott Smith stuff last night, and I really like it. Quiet and laid back, really relaxing. Ah, does anyone else here love Melissa Auf der Maur, and her band Auf der Maur? She was the replacement bassist in Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins, and she is just amazing! Her voice sounds sort of like Alanis, which is kind of weird, but her songs are great! I want to buy her album, but it is $26 everywhere I look. Time for Ebay to take over...

At the moment, I love the music of the Bollywood movies.
Have you checked out Kronos Quartet's latest album? It's titled "You've stolen my heart" and it features compositions by Bollywood classic R.D Burman and it's gotten Burman's wife, the prominent Asha Bhosle, as its lead vocalist. Very nice music, I'd recommend it, as I would any Kronos Quartet outing, esp. "Nuevo", which highlights all types of mexican music, popular and classical, traditional and modern.

I'll listen to pretty much anything. Well, not boybands or rap, but pretty much anything. (Hey, I'm southern. Raised on country music. I'm tolerant of almost anything. Heh. Well, no, that song 'Redneck Yacht Club'? Sucks. Hate it. And Gretchen Wilson can get on my nerves. Meh.)
Claire! You like Metric? Me too! There was some Metric stuff posted on hawt_tunes awhile back, and I loved it. (Unfortunately, I lost pretty much all of the Metric songs I had on my computer because it, erm...crashed. Heh.)
