@Rob I removed my post about flyers but I live in NEOhio.  It is still done in my area, but I wouldn't want anyone to get arrested.  Maybe our 3 big cities have these laws.   And the areas of NC where I go for vacation have certainly never heard of these types of laws either!  I can attest to that personally!

@to the creative people here

Please, who was it who created the buttons back in February??? I'd need help - I tried to make a T-shirt for my trip to the US where we will also do the WB tour! But the buttons are only "72 dpi" and I would need at least "300 dpi" for the T-shirt-print!

When I try to change the dpi's, it becomes where "un-sharpened", doesn't look good!

Anyone can help me??? It's kind of urgent because I should have the print out at the copy shop by Monday Afternoon (European Time).

Thank you!!!!!

Regards,
Billie

Heidi made the logos herself back in February.  IMO, she's the best person to ask about getting a usable version of the logo.

My suggestion, if by the time you read this you're really stuck on time, would be for you to make up your own logo, a daisy of a size just big enough to go over your heart (like many t-shirt logos) and in your favorite type, write in a circle around the daisy:  "Save the Lorelais (.org)!"  and "We want a real ending!"

And on the back, type in large letters, "Hockey puck, rattlesnake, monkey monkey underpants!" -- Lorelai Gilmore

@Rob I know you are just doing this because you know that I dissagree with you ("We want a real ending"). So my question is now: "Does the compaign support just a season 8 to end the show right, because then I don´t need to send money for the Daisys if it´s just for an end. I don´t know if all fans think in the same way like you but I won´t support this compaign anymore just for an end.Than I can keep my money for more letters, where I can tell my opinion. I will do it my way, a season 8 with a possibility for a season 9. Most Important is for me to keep this show going as long as it can be. A next point is, that we will get an end someday. I know someday the show will end and then you all will see the end with wedding and everything. For me personally it´s not the most important thing to see Lorelais wedding and her and Luke with kids. I loved season 1,2,3 and 4, too where  Luke and Lorelai where not a couple, they are even my favorites. The show is about a mother - daughter friendship and not about Lorelai,Rory and their guys. Well, I just want to tell to the fans who want season 8 as the Gilmore Girls end, if you think clearly than you know the end could be season 10 or 11, too. Before then many things could happen in Stars Hollow and in Lorelais and Rorys life and Emilys and Richards. Well, if you all are so obsessed with an end then think about that you will get it someday but do you  really want that it should be the 8th season? You really want that the show just get 8 seasons? I think then they can call the show "the Luke and Lorelai show". I understand Lauren that she dont need a movie because she knows that the fans just want to see Lorelai and Luke happy and the mother - daughter relationship is not so important anymore. This show is our best, even here in Germany and it´s even  more popular than 7th heaven who got 11 seasons. What we need is a solution. I know that all actors signed the contract beside Lauren and Alexis and I think too that its Alexis who wanted to leave the show the most. Scott patterson said they where other problems too and that was just a little thing. I can agree that the show wouldt work without Rory because then we really had the "Luke and Lorelai Show". But we should think about how we can make further seasons happen and how we could make it more comfortable for Alexis and Lauren. Beside Lauren said in one interview after the cancelation that she liked the challanging dialouges the most. So Alexis is I think the only person who wouldn´t love to come back that much. So I really think we should say she should´t have the leading part in season 8 and maybe in season  9 she wants the leading part back. It would be such a loss to loose the best show because of a little problem. And if we really get an end now than we never get further seasons, thats for sure.We will just see 8 or 13 episodes, so then we maybe see Luke and Lorelais wedding, baby and Rory working for a short time.I heared that many fans to see Rorys wedding and kids, too. Do we really get then the double wedding like Lauren said? If we get the season 8,the one you all want, that´s not Gilmore Girls anymore. It´s just like a fairy tale, everything is perfect, unrealistic, just all about the guys, weddings and kids. That´s not Gilmore Girls! Gilmore Girls is about the crazy Town Stars Hollow and Lorelai and Rory in it, who have this special relationship. You all know that Im a huge Palladino Fan but now I just say that anyone should do it who sees more in Gilmore Girls than 8 seasons. If it´s David Rosenthal or someone else whoever! Or the idea you had that at least Daniel Palladino could do it is great. Amy or Daniel, there is for me no difference. I just thought the Palladinos are the best because Lauren said she would consider a script from her. Amy said Gilmore Girls could go on for  11 or more seasons and said it´s because it´s about family. However im happy with anyone who would shoot further seasons, because for me the most important thing is to keep this show as long as we can. The season 8 you all support is for me not Gilmore Girls. An end is the last thing on earth this amazing show deserves and Rob I think that it´s your problem if you now support season 8 as an end to show me that you are in charge and to get me angry. I think a poll or something like that would be fair to all fans wheather they want season 8 as an end or further seasons. I definatelly dont support a season 8 as an end, woun´t watch it and thats for me definatelly not Gilmore Girls anymore. Gilmore Girls is worldwide successful and the most popular show and we have strong supporters. We definatelly have good chances to get more seasons, even if they cancelled Gilmore Girls because of money problems or because of the bad quality of the show. Most important the viewers haven´t changed. Gilmore Girls is successful in 29 countrys untill now and if we get season 8 as an end we never get seasons again. But okay if you want the "Luke and Lorelai - Rory and Logan or whoever happy life show" it´s okay but you just lost one supporter because I make it in my way: Season 8 with a possibility for a season 9. That´s what I want to hear from the CW.

I think Alexis should know that we just want the show go on and it would be okay for us if she had not the leading part and she could have the leading part back whenever she wants it. I think that was a great idea and she still could make her movies then.Or they could make more leads for example more Emily,Richard,Lane,Zach,Gil,Brien... If Lauren and Alexis want to do something else a little time that they could shoot season 8 in the year 2009 and after they shoot season 8 they can make a break again to act in other movies and than they shoot season 9 and so on. Most important is THE SHOW GOES ON AND ON. Have you ever thought about who could produce the season 8 you want? Amy Sherman? You all want to know the final 4 words but they cant build the her story on David Rosenthals. So you support the movie? Or David Rosenthal should do it? In my opinion Amy Sherman or Daniel should do her season 7 in a movie formation to show in a short way what would happens in her season 7 or he or she should shoot her season 7 and after that they should go on with their season 8,9,10... So I think the Danial Palladino idea is the best or David Rosenthal could be a great possebility, too. He could go on with his seasons, maybe they get more interesting than I thought. Its still much interesting in the Anna,Luke and April story, emily,Richard and Lorelai and Rory and her working experiences and the relationship with her mother. So if you really want an end then support it, but I don´t do it. Im really dissaponted and sad about that you all think so :-\ :'( That what you all want isn´f Gilmore Girls anymore

We're pushing for a season 8 because the series finale wasn't an ending.
Your suggestion of 8+ seasons is a "fairytale".

Those were just two points I can up with.
I'm sure I'll have more in a couple of hours.
love is blind so you didn't see me.

Thanks, Rob! But I already have the text, I just wanted to add "our" logo!!! It's a shame I'm doing it last minute but the last weeks were ..... *no_words_fit_here*.

I wish you a nice trip and a lot of fun at the comicon! We'll be in LA on Thursday (and SD next week).

Best,

Wonny, take it from a person who knows he's wordy and prefers to write in essays (like the one that I write below), it's painful to read even a single paragraph that's that long.

But to answer your point:

We're shooting for Season 8 to round out the series with a real ending because that's realistically as good as we can get, whether it's as an 8-to-13 episode midseason replacement, a miniseries of some sort, a 2-hour movie or even the unlikely event that it would be renewed for a full 22 episodes.  For a full 22-episodes, it would have had to have been renewed in May so that it could start filming right about now, but that doesn't rule out, say a full 22-episode order and splitting it up over two 11-episode seasons.  It's all up to the actresses and the network and whether or not we can persuade them to come back to the negotiating table and *then* when they're back at the negotiating table, it's dependent *entirely* on what *they* agree is best for *them.*

The campaign is predicated primarily on the concept that no matter how good the season finale was -- and most of us agree that it was good as a season finale -- it's wholly unacceptable as a series finale, being more of a chapter break 100 pages before the book ends than an epilogue.  Having the campaign focus on having a Season 8 of some length is a message from the campaigners to the actresses and the network and perhaps even Amy herself that a 2-hour movie in "a year or two" is not good enough.  The year or two could stretch out to a reunion in 20 years and we've already seen the trainwrecks of The Dukes Of Hazzard Go to Hollywood and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island, not to mention A Very Brady Christmas.  We'll take a 2-hour movie in the next year or two if we have to, but it's not good enough.

We already know that most of the actors (including Lauren and Scott) continue to have great affection for the show.  Patterson seems willing to jump back onto the show in a heartbeat, and Lauren, despite (or because of) all the Wife roles she's currently taking has been soliciting input from fans on *why* they'd like to see a 2-hour movie and what they'd like to see in a 2-hour movie.  But, like Melissa McCarthy and everybody else, Lauren and Scott have to move onto their next gigs in the meantime.

For that reason, IMNSHO, trying to petition them to do additional seasons beyond season 8 is at this point wholly premature and, moreover, amounts to nothing but badgering them.  It's overkill.  If/when we can get the actresses and the network back to the negotiating table and agree on something, we want it to be longer than just a 2-hour movie and if/when we can get that, *then* it becomes reasonable to hope that it inspires them to do more seasons.   And *then* we can move onto that next step and petition them with our enthusiasm for more seasons.  So let's not get ahead of ourselves.  The campaign for season 8 is a simpler, more reasonable and much more focused campaign than also trying at this time to get the future seasons that we all feel the show still has in it.  We cannot command them to revive the show for even a short run of a real conclusion; we can only try to persuade them to do so.  Pushing them further than one of the three necessary persons seems willing to go will only serve to push that person away and will thus accomplish nothing.

Or, metaphorically speaking, why use a blowtorch to catch the mouse when a little bit of cheese will do?

That's great about the GG reference! It'll be a pop culture phenomenon...

And, I think that maybe any season 8 campaigning should just be geared towards a "So Much More to Say" approach, not "Give us a Better Ending", because that does imply that we're assuming (and already accepting) it to be the the last. And really, how many pseudo-finales can we make people write, and watch? Ooh, and, wouldn't it be nice if ASP let Danny boy off his leash for a little while and let him run the future of GG?  :D

I am not going to get into the "So Much More To Say" approach versus the "Give Us a Better Ending" other than to say that my real approach is the "I'll Take What I Can Get Other Than This" approach.  Finessing this situation isn't going to be easy since it's not about money and of the three participants in the contract talks, only Lauren came out of it scott free -- despite her own disappointment with the season finale and how it didn't measure up to her own intentions.

BTW, I just decided that we've done all that we can do ahead of time without nitpicking it to death, so the nitpicking will continue and everyone should go to www.savethelorelais.org now and spread the word.  I think my essay-long welcome there is, like, enough explanation for the time being given that I don't have time to write a press release for another couple of weeks.  It's a modest site for right now, but then again, it's a new site, so it should be.

OK.  Divine is going to kill me now for not telling her in advanace.  It's just that I suddenly realized that a website is never actually finished -- it grows like a beehive.

Also, I emailed Heidi a week ago and she's fine with it.  I don't expect the Mandate thread to close here because there are already too many links out there to this thread and I expect that conversations will *still* break out in this thread as new people continue to  join in.

Yes, Thunderbirds Are Go!  Save the Lorelais (.org), Save the World!

Okay, I just had to make that joke just to get it out of the way 'cause you *know* that someone was gonna say it.

www.savethelorelais.org

Spread the word.   Especially since I'm busy making sure that I can still access the Internets while I'm on vay-cay.  ;)

ETA:  Petition count is currently 4707, so we added around 100 signatures today.

ETA #2:  In case anyone is wondering, yes, I sure as heck am staying a member of Gg.org.  I like my community points and number of posts.   ;D

------------------------
Season 8:  Because we should take it one step at a time.  First season 8, *then* when they do that, we remind them that the parts for women in movies generally *suck.*   And when they don't, Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett or Gwyneth Paltrow have already gotten them.  (But at least Nicole Kidman has completely lost the ability to recognize the difference between good scripts and bad scripts).

haha!  And a couple of weeks ago, Keith Olbermann said on MSNBC, something like

"Ann Coulter is worth exactly 13,000 viewers, or maybe not. Maybe the extra 13,000 were watching because there wasn`t a good rerun of "The Gilmore Girls" playing on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Coulter-geist, today`s Worst Person in the World!"

and a while back, he said this:

"At least the rest of us didn't make it into a sitcom. By that logic, of course, somewhere in this country there really is a cheerleader who will never die, there's at least one real-life talking dog, and a mother and a daughter who patter back and forth like the Gilmore Girls. Is 24 propaganda? Is it fearmongering? Or is it a program-length commercial for one political party? I'm joined now by Robert Greenwald, who made the documentary film Outfoxed. Thanks again for your time tonight, sir."

He obviously watches or knows someone who does.   Hmmm... probably the latter.
