I will tell everyone I know to watch GG on tuesday. We need an 8th season I can't live with GG!

Does it really work like that?  I'll repost my question since there are so many pages here that things get lost lol.

I think I read somewhere that they can also get ratings through tivo or something.. that would be cool since I have tivo...  but anyone know for sure how it all works?"

i will do anything in the world to get a season 8...i will write letters..ill do anything to bring the show back...anything..i love the show sooo much and when they told me it was canceled i actually broke down in tears..if you need my help for anything ill do it..

Sadly I don't count in ratings cause I don't get The CW I watch it on Global (Canadian channel) every tuesday night! Hey does anyone else watch it on Global? Maybe we could find an email address to the network and we can ask them to support us somehow and get them to tell us what the average number of viewers there is for GG every week.

i just went to cwtv.com and at the bottom of the pages there is a contact us link button and i emailed them from there. i think that if they get tons of emails all concerning them ending the gilmore girls they might decide to keep it on.

I am so bumbed...ouch man...this totally blows my day..actually make that my week..no actually more than that...we all know how much gg means to all of us that have have discovered this pearl in the dust...man, this show cracked me up n took me to a familiar place each week. i dont understand how they could do this to us, i mean ending it like this. i just wish a show that was so special would get send off in the beautiful way it deserves where they just dont spring this on us before we can have time to accept it..what do they think we are, made of steel?
I dont know, its such a bitter sweet ending..I dont know if its right or wrong (I havnt seen the last episode yet), but I know that this really sucks. And I know that there's some of you out there still holding on to their hopes, and I think...WELL WE CAN AT LEAST TRY!!!! Get the word out there that this is a valuable show, especially with all the crap out there..Dont let a good thing die.

Well, what if we convince The CW but Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel still don't want to go on... That would be horrible! 

I wonder what Lauren will say about Gilmore Girls on Tuesday at Ellen's show...

I already read that, before asking my question... cause I just don't get how telling everyone to watch if they are not even one of the select households who are a part of the Neilsen panel, then how does it help?  Cause it seems to me that if we want higher ratings we have to find people who are part of the Neisen panel to watch it.

Well now I'm just confused about the whole ratings thing.
But I would still turn on all your TVs, just in case if its not that complicated.

Ratings are based on percentages.  You could own a million tv's and have them on to GG and it wouldn't make a lick of difference in the ratings if you aren't a Nielsen family.  Basically, they have a certain percentage of people do forms about what they watch and a certain percentage have the box that records what they watch, then use percentages based on the number of people in the US, and how many of those are of TV watching ages (target groups) and so on.  So unless you know some Nielsen families, telling everyone to watch GG will not show up on the ratings at all.

It makes no sense when networks rely so heavily on the ratings and base cancellations and pick-ups on neilsen ratings.
