Thats excellent that GG is winning in 3 catagories!! That makes me reallly happy even if it probably won't do anything but give us pride to win. Weird, it says VM is the most missed cancelled show but when I go to the voting section, GG is winning...in fact, VM is last on the list! ;D

When I voted:

Lorelai 31% versus WTF from October Road 28% (everyone else were also-rans 18% or lower)

Pussycat Dolls is "winning" worst show at a whopping 56%

Couple You Loved to Love (the past tense is the wording of the question, not the attitude to Gg):
Lorelai & Luke -- 30%  (actually, the dummies listed them as "Luke and Lorelai"
Turk & Carla -- 23%
Sun & Jin -- 24%

Strongest Network
ABC -- 37%
The CW -- 5%

Cancelled Show You'll Miss the Most
Gg -- 46%
Jericho -- 32%
VM -- 13%

Gg's win at that last one is waaaaaaaaaay beyond the margin of error even for "non-scientific polls."  Gg has clearly won this one and moreover, even if Jericho fans try to jam the poll up, it's still going to outdistane VM by a mile.  Which strongly suggests to me that much of the time that we get the "voicemail box is full" announcement on The CW's comment line, it's Gg and Heather's guesstimate that Gg is the talk 75% of the time online at thecw's website is pretty much accurate for the comment line, too!

IMO, VM was on the main topic screen for this poll because whoever designed the poll misunderestimated the ratings between Gg and VM and somehow thought that despite Gg having much better ratings, that VM would be the hot topic.   ::)

I've been calling the CW line and writting my letter to ASP. ;D However, if ShutUpRob is Kirk then that makes me Lulu because I also suck at conversating over the phone. I tried reading off the things I had written down but it made me sound like William Shatner reciting poetry. I guess I have to stick with my strengths which is long writing.

ShutUpRob- I have a list of all the advertisers who replied do you want me to PM it to you? A lot of other advertisers also expressed how sad they are that GG was cancelled and I gave them some suggestiongs of marketing for an 8th season and/or the movie.  ;)

I think I struck out with the newspaper thing. I'll attempt re-emailing the info sometime this week but with all the crazy stuff happening lately, I think the GG situation is low on their lists.  :-\

I've been working on my season 8 fanfic and I have it all planned out. The last episode is sort of bittersweet because I would LOVE for it to really happen but with the whole cancellation thing it saddens me to think it might not. I try my best to keep it from being the Lorelai/Luke show and I find it's not that hard when you consider the history Rory has with each one of them.

Ah, anyway. I'm out. Goodnight.

Mannnnnnnn, 2007 is one sad year for television, well at leat all the shows I watch. For years all I really watched was GG and the Sopranos, and they've both ended this year. Then I started getting in to Jericho, and they cancel it.......talk about a proper ending, that one was just sad. We have to ge GG back or I won't have anything to wactch this fall.

Believe it or not, I watched the series season finale again today (I make my mother watch them in 4-5 episdoe batches over a given week or two), and it still doesn't read as a series finale, it reads as a season finale.

BTW, here are the current stats of the AOL poll at http://television.aol.com/feature/tv-season-end-best-worst-poll for comparison of all the categories that had CW nominees in them (CW nominees in bold):

Best Reality Show -- Idol leads at 39% with ANTM and Project Runway virtually tied for dead last at 9% and 8% respectively.

Worst New Show -- PCD at 56% with all four of the rest of the shows in a dead heat.  'Til Death at 15%, The Game and 10 Good Years at 10% and Happy Hour at 9%

Hottest Single Mom -- Lorelai leads at 31%, Hannah from October Road is 2nd at 28% with the other three as also-rans (apparently the voters don't care that Laura Prepon can't act)

Favorite Investigative Team -- Benson & Stabler, L&O: SVU -- 34%, Veronica & Keith Mars in a tie for dead last with the Medium duo at 9%

Couple You Loved To Love -- Lorelai and Luke (mislisted as Luke and Lorelai) lead at 31%, the next nearest are Sun & Jin from Lost and Carla & Turk from Scrubs tied at 23% apiece

Couple You Loved to Hate -- Edie & Carlos, Desperate Houseweirdoes lead at 33%, Veronica & Piz are dead last at 8%

Meanest Reality Show Judge -- Simon leads at 52%, Nigel from ANTM is dead last at a "Whew! That was close!" (for his reputation, I mean) 2%

Strongest Network -- ABC leads at 37%, The CW is dead last at 5%.  Ostroff should be glad that Univision wasn't on the ballot.

Cancelled Show we'll miss the most -- Gilmore Girls leads with 48% of the vote, followed for reference by Jericho with 30% and Veronica Mars dead last out of four at 13%.  (What?  They cuoldn't have put Crossing Jordan on the list?)

Interestingly, the only two shows from the CW that voters had strong feelings about are Gg (leading in all of its three categories, 2 of them by more or less landslides) and Pussycat Dolls, which everybody hates and yet The CW is trying to center its corporate identity around for some stupid reason.

Since you're going to go to L.A. so soon, my suggestion is to go all the way back to page 1 of this thread, grab the picture of the Mandate Logo and make it into a button that you can wear on the Warner Studios Tour -- put your name, age and address (snail mail and/or email address) on a sticker on the back (if it's okay with your parents), and ask the tour guide to give it to Alexis (if you make only one) and Lauren (if you make two) and Dawn (if you make three).  Making a mandate logo button shouldn't be too expensive even if you have to go to a novelty shop to do it.

The tour is worth going to no matter what, btw and much of the outside of Stars Hollow (The Gazebo, Miss Patty's, Luke's Diner, Doosey's Market, Mrs. Kim's Antiques, is still going to be there if you take the tour because the buildings have been there for decades.  Lorelai's House/front yard (it's a facade, so the actual interior of the house was never filmed there) will also be there because it's another building that is permanent.  It was the exterior of Uncle Jesse's house on The Dukes of Hazzard 30 years ago.  And, of course, they'll still likely have Gg souveniers (mostly logo caps and various mugs and shot glasses) to buy in the studio shop.

Would it make sense (and be possible for the creative people here??) to make our button

I STILL support season gilmore girls season8

Because - IF the girls will really receive them they should not get the impression it's an old, obsolete one from before May 2007??

Just at thought... (and we're going to wear them, too, in August!!!)

How about the logo with "Season 8:  'We Were Ambushed!'"  ?

ETA:  I'm going to be out for most of the day -- we're taking my great-aunt back to Kansas City today, 2 1/2 hour drive both ways not including lunch & gas breaks.  Call the CW's comment line today after 1:00pm ET at 1-818-977-6878 -- and be sure to send daisies to Alexis all this week, emphasizing that two years ago on June 3rd was Rory's courtroom date for her Sexboat misadventure and 1 year ago on June 3rd was what was supposed to be Lorelai and Luke's wedding.

I like both ideas, I was actually afraid that would happen so we should definately let them know this stuff isn't new. We are still here and fighting strong! I think we can make multiple buttons, some with the 'I STILL Support Gilmore Girls Season 8' and some with quotes along with things relating to things that happened in the finale. Alot of what Lorelai said to Rory in the finale applied to us, it was one of the things that made me love the finale so much, cause everything Lorelai went through in the finale applied to what we were going through! Lorelai getting such short notice that Rory was leaving (3 days and ironically we heard about the shows cancellation on May 3rd ;) ), Lorelai trying to stay strong so that she can enjoy the time she has with Rory but still ending up breaking down, Lorelai feeling like she had more time, she was so sure that her summer with Rory was going to work out and then she gets this big bomb dropped on her telling her she has less then 3 days with her kid. Everything applied to us. I would have laughed at the irony if I wasn't so busy crying at the finale!

So a few of weeks ago I sent emails to all the advertisers on that list. I just got a respose today, here's what it says, noting much, but at least you know they got the email and they care enough  to reply.

Ms. Thomas:

We are in receipt of your correspondence dated May 20, 2007 regarding the sponsorship of the CW's Gilmore Girls.  We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns regarding this matter.

Thank you for expressing your thoughts.  Feedback is welcomed and is provided to our advertising agency for evaluation.  We monitor our advertising schedules regularly to ensure we are reaching the widest audiences with our advertising message and investment.  Our company also takes into consideration the opinions of our audience as we work through the advertising process.   Again, thank you for your interest.

Okay, we've gotten

1) a huge expression of disappointment by Kellogg's representative, and

2) a "we value your input" response from AllTel, which IMO is nearly as good

and

3) anything I've forgotten (which is probably several more)

Which ones have I missed that you guys have gotten responses from?  Could somebody volunteer to make a list of all of the companies that have responded and keep track of those and any other responses we may get in the future.  Let's put the Advertiser Reponse List in as one of the rotating FAQ posts like this:

Company:  AllTel
Representative:  Name, Title
Address
City/State
PH:  (if a phone # is available)
email:  (if an email is available even if you snail mailed)

Kellloggs
Address
City/State
PH:
email:
Special Comment:  Representative voiced "disappointment" with the show's cancellation
Special Comment:  Responded to x number of Mandaters (Tom, Dick, Harriet . . .)

AllTel's wouldn't have a special comment line as it's a generic We Value Your Input response, but the more we write them, the more they get the picture that The CW needs to correct this mistake they've made.  The value is in getting the response at all.

Eventually, this could all be updated to divine's advertiser calling list document.

Okay, any takers?

To everyone else writing advertisers, please post the responses you get here to the thread and/or email them to me at [email protected] ?  Even if it's an advertiser we've already seen a response to, let us know by posting it here and then whoever volunteers to keep track can update the list and I can keep some type of track of the responses themselves.
