I'm watching Ellen right now!! She's not on yet, but it's getting closerrr! haha.  I can't wait for GG tonight even though it's getting closer and closer to the end.
Tuesdays are now officially marked in my book as international Gilmore Girls Day!! :)

So, Happy Gilmore Girls Day, everyone!!

Happy Gilmore Girls Day to you too then :)  .. although I can't watch until tomorrow  :'(

Could you maybe just summarize what Lauren said on Ellen? Or if she said any additional things that we didn't alread know from Ausiello's interview? Really just a few sentences until I can catch the interview on youtube. Thanks!!! ;)

Sure, I'll try to summarize it the best I can! :)

Edit: Okay, so they're going to a commercial break right now and Lauren is still on but I assume they're not going to say much more about Gilmore Girls at this point.  So, I'm going to summarize what Ellen and Lauren have talked about concerning GG so far.

Nothing more than what we already know was said.  Ellen asked what was up with the show and Lauren told her, of course as we know, that it's not coming back after this season.  She talked about how she got the news while at dinner and that it's been a conversation that's been going on for quite a while now so she wasn't surprised.  Lauren explained it's strange to say goodbye but it's the best thing for the show, and she is grateful that Gilmore Girls lasted so long.  She also said 7 years is plenty.. and she joked that 7 years for any show is too long.  :P  Then, Ellen brought her a drink using a remote control car and they did a quick cheers to Gilmore Girls.

Thanks Kristin for your fast answer!! So, I didn't really miss anything by not seeing it - glad :)

You're right, there wasn't really anything new in this interview ... no surprise, the one with Ausiello was already soo long. Plus we knew from tvguide.com how she's going to say that she's not sad about GG ending after this season.
While she was at dinner? You would assume that a decision like this will be discussed in person (at least with someone you've had negotiations going on for a long time  ::) ) ..

.. however; I am looking forward to our last 2 episodes but will use our last 9 days until May 17th to do everything possible to support the show! :)

Ahh, Lauren is so lovely and open to her fans, I like that, nothing is faked!
Too bad, I thought this talk today will be about Gilmore Girls,...

i just read the interview with lauren - i liked it cause it's really open to all of us.
what i liked the most is this:

Anything you'd like to say to the fans?
Graham: Just that I've been truly thankful for their support and for their fanaticism (laughs) and their investment in these characters through all the ups and downs of a seven year process. I can't tell you what a kick I get out of [hearing from the fans], especially the younger people over the years who have grown up with the show and have [developed] a bond with a family member from a different generation while watching it together. I hope when I'm 55 and I've been out of a job for a long time and those girls are running the studios that they remember Lorelai Gilmore.

the last sentence is so sweet...and yes,i'll always rember lorelai gilmore  ;)

wow,it's great so many daisies have arrived already.
and more than 300$ for the campain - great job!!!
even though we know the show will not come back this is a nice gesture to say
that we are thankful for 7 years (it were only 3 for me cause the girls started in 04 in germany :( )

love,chrissi

ps:nevertheless i'm really really sad!

I'm watching right now.   She just had a mojito and Ellen is trying to set her up with different men since she's been so busy the last seven years.   They're both so funny!

Now she's singing a campfire song and playing the guitar.  She says she was a camp counselor who was in charge of teaching music.

Some revealing news on why the CW canceled the show:

From Spoilerjunkies (at Live Journal):

Quote
From SassyPaws on TWOP:

My Friend at GG has sent me more information regarding the issue that finally caused the network to end the negotiations...

The girls had agreed to a 13 week season with a very generous pay increase. All that was needed was the signatures. Then, after the contacts had been drawn up and approved by everyone’s legal team, the girls came back and told the network that they wanted to change the number of episodes down to 8. That was the deal breaker. It wasn’t worth it to the network.

All the more reason we keep fighting.
Not ready to let go of Gilmore Girls - it ain't over 'til it's over.

I've found Sassypaws's rumors to be less and less reliable as this whole thing has gone along, so color me extremely skeptical.  No actors on broadcast shows have ever agreed to anything less than the front 13 for a shortened final season (Friends, Raymond, W&G), so I cannot in any way believe this rumor.  Because reneging on a contract made in principle (ie: just waiting for signatures) for something that the network would clearly never agree to is negotiating in bad faith.  Occam's Razor says to me that it was something else.  I think that  Sassy is a leaker from the network trying to play damage control given that it's been widely reported that The CW walked away from the table, not the gals.

Heck, the inital report by TV Guide's Stephen Battaglio in which he was the first one to state that The CW walked away from the negotating table appeared in the new issue of TV Guide magazine even though it disappeared entirely from TV Guide.com under mysterious circumstances.  Sorry, but this is a case of who are you going to believe, a rumor or the evidence of Lauren's repeated statements, reporters' repeated statements, etc.?

After the michael interview with Lauren it sounded to me like they wanted to work less hours a day not neccessarily as concerned with the number of episodes so I bet your skeptism for the above statement is correct

At this point I'm choosing not to believe in anyone, esp. because we'll always get conflicting reports. But for the record (and to do her some justice), SassyPaws was the one who assured many of us that Season 8 was more likely than not (and she was right at that time).

Wow 300 pages guys! :o Great work!

I think it's possible that it was just a lie about them turning around and announcing they changed their mind and only want 8 instead of 13 but do you think that maybe that is what happened?! Their was reports that the 13 episodes was all but signed, everyone agreed and they were just waiting for the papers to come so that they could get signed. But then after 2 weeks of this rumour going around and everything seeming so sure, suddenly out of no where, Ausiello announces that something is holding up the papers being signed. The very next day, Gilmore Girl is announced cancelled. From what Lauren said in her last interview with Ausiello, she said the network cancelled it pretty much out of frustration. Maybe the contract arrived, the pen was put to the paper and all of a sudden, Lauren and Alexis change their mind.

Just a thought. Not trying to be pessimistic, I totally see how this could be just a lie. I'm just taking a look at all the options here :)
Keep The Faith For Season 8! Cause 8 Is Fate!
