Obviously DR wants another season and knows where he is going to take the show in a season 8 and knows what the fans want.

Lauren's interview was very cool.  From what she said I really think that she wants to come back for another year. I think a season 8 will be very creative for the actors and there is still alot of paths to go down for the characters.  And we all know that this show is really hard on a person's social life and I think she is really considering a shortened season obviously because it will be more manageable.  And she said that "it's still up in the air" so for sure there are no answers for us yet.  She truely cares about this character and knows Lorelai so well and everything she said about how this role just fit for her, I know that she will come back if she thinks that Lorelai's story has not been finished being told.  She said that everyone would like to come back "if all the elements are in place" and this does mean other things, but money is definitely going to be an important factor and it sounds like all the official paper work is what is keeping them from making an official announcement.

May is coming up so fast!  We have to be getting an official announcement soon!  But then again, we might still not hear anything until May 17th right?  I'm thinking that they are not going to announce it as the last season, but if it is a shorten season, I think it is going to be assumed amoung everyone that it is the last season.  Which might be a good thing, not officially stated, just assumed because then we will truely get the closure we want because they will know from Day 1 of Season 8 that they need to resolve the main conflicts in the show.  And I don't think Lauren would ever pull back on her acting just because it's the last season, I would think that she would do better and truely bring closure for this character.

It's hard to believe that this Great8Mandate thread was created back in the beginning of February.  At the time, May 17th (the last possible day for a season eight announcement) seemed years away.  But here we are, less than a month to go!

Since the Great8Mandate's creation, we've hit many peaks and valleys.  I think it's fair to say that there have been times when hope for season eight was pretty much lost, but we continued forward anyway.  Despite the naysayers and no matter what the gossip mill was churning out, we continued mailing our letters of support, contacting various media sources, and sending in fan photos.  Thanks to the dedication of everyone here, the Great8Mandate has been mentioned on E! Online, TVGuide.com, Zap2it.com, About.com, BuddyTV.com, Courant.com (the Hartford Courant newspaper), and the L.A. Daily News (among others).  In fact, it's probably not an understatement to say that we pulled off a huge upset by winning E! Online's "Save One Show" poll.  That was no small feat.

We've all heard Michael Ausiello's recent gossip that makes season eight sound like a sure thing and nothing could make me happier, but I think it's important that we keep our Great8Mandate efforts strong until we hear an official confirmation from The CW.  Therefore, I'd like to kindly ask that everyone visit the first page of this thread, pick a person to contact (I suggest Dawn Ostroff, Lauren, or Alexis), and mail a letter of support.

It's not over 'til it's over ... and last time I checked it wasn't over.    Let's keep fighting the good fight.

Okay, this is totally out of the blue, but I have a theory.  I think that Lauren and Alexis and the rest of the cast/crew probley know as well as we do that this would be a really bad way to end the series, but they feel that there is no reason to go on with the show unless they have a strong fan base.  Maybe not telling us weather or not they're coming back is their way of seeing how much the show really means to the viewers.  If it is, then we MUST NOT stop sending letters!  People have probley already pointed out some of this, but, I dunno, I guess a reminder couldn't hurt.  We need to keep sending letters until atleast 17 hours after the final announcement.  (We could pull a 7th Heaven if we really need to!)  Just keep sending those books/daisys and writing letters!

Thanks for the encouragment, Heidi! It's good to hear from you too! It did seem like it was forever ago that May would ever get here! But, it's closer and closer each day! I can hardly wait! I'm sending another e-mail and snail mail to the people on the front page and then will also send another round of diasies and books (paper) to the girls! Like you said, it's not over 'til it's over, I've been saying that for awhile now - but when it's over, I have a good feeling there will be celebrating! Keep your head up and thanks for all that you do!

Keep up the good mandating everyone! It's about that time...and soon - we will know! I have a good feeling about this! And even if we don't get another season, we'll know that we tried hard and did our best, right?! AND, we'll still have the friends that we've made here, at the most awesome GG site on the net!! BUT, we don't need to worry about that just yet...there's still plenty of time to get the word out and show support for another season!

Hello all!  I've been quite busy with life and things lately, so I haven't been able to keep up with this thread.  Can someone please give me a quick update of any new progress and stuff?  Also what else can I do?

I just can't believe how close we are getting to May and the SEASON finale...(crosses fingers)!  It feels as if this yo-yo has gone on forever, and here we are getting close to the end of the rope.  I have all the faith in the world that it is going to end happily for us and a season 8 will be announced, but even with high hopes we can not, and will not give up until the end.  More letters have been written and sent and emails have gone out.  Anything to convince our girls to come back is well worth it.

 Me and my 22 year old daughter would love to see a season 8 of Gilmore Girls. But my daughter is moving away in August and getting married. We have purchased all of the DVD's. Some good things have to end.

 I still would love to see one more season. But Rory is graduating from college soon.  I believe ' Eveybody Loves Raymond " ended at 7 or was it 8 seasons ??

Great8Mandate Mail-Out - 3 Days To Go

For a while now we have toyed with the idea of sending daisies to Lauren Graham but have struggled to come up with a workable plan.  And even more recently LoganNRory4ever organised a great book campaign which involved sending books to Alexis Bledel.  Now we are combining the two ideas and organising an en masse mailing campaign to send as many paper daisies and books as possible to the Girls and the Studio.

To take part all you need to do is print out any of the following graphics you like and write your own personal message, or one of our organised quotes on them.  You can print it on card and send it as a postcard, or on paper and include several in an envelope.  Our mailing date will be Wednesday April 25th. 

My suggestion is to send the daisies to Lauren, the books to Alexis and a combination of the both to the studio.  The addresses for all these can be found in the first post of this thread.
