Hi guys,
These are some replies that I've gotten from the various newspaper entertainment reporters I've contacted. I removed their names because I don't think it's important as to who said what. Rather, it's important to know that these are the opinions of people who are paid to research, write about, and follow television shows.
------
"... I think the Great8Mandate is a great idea because I love the Girls, even in their new guise, but I’m not sure that either logistics or ratings bode well. How would the Gilsies be without Rory and Lorelai, both of whom seem pretty determined to leave at the end of their contracts?"
------
"Of course it couldn't hurt to fire off some e-mails at CW president, Dawn Ostroff ... And good luck...a world without Rory, Lorelai and Emily is hard to imagine."
------
"... "Gilmore Girls" remains one of The CW's more popular shows, so I imagine that the network wouldn't mind having it back again in the fall; the problem is, once all the principals are given major raises to secure their services for another year, it might prove too expensive a show for a network that small. (Also, there are more than enough episodes already created for it to prosper in syndication, so that's not really an enticement for anyone involved -- they're essentially already set to rake in the dough in perpetuity.)
Still, never say never. Nonetheless, best of luck, and thanks for writing."

I personally believe that it's a huge deal that Lauren Graham was recently given a 'producer' credit on the show. It seems like that might be The CW's way of trying to encourage her to stay on another year.
Start sending those Great8Mandate letters ASAP! Don't feed into rumors about season 8 staying or going until you've heard an official word. Long live Gilmore Girls.
