Hi gang,

I've finally put my ORG Reunion thoughts down on 'paper' and I'd love to hear your feedback.  The ORG Reunion is all-inclusive and I want it to be a fun event for everyone, so please share all your questions, comments, and suggestions.

PRIME REAL ESTATE

Here's hoping that the ORG Reunion turns out to be a big deal.  We obviously want many, many friends and Gilmore enthusiasts to drop by during the dates of August 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, and when people do stop in we want the Reunion festivities to be as easy as possible to find.  Therefore, threads and games pertaining to the Reunion will be given their own board.  For August 22nd to 24th, and probably the following week, this board will be front and center on the Forum (it will be the top board with Gilmore Girls, Episode Discussion, and GilmoreGirls.org following).  Once the festivities are over, the board will be neatly tucked away and the Forum will resume its normal look.

GOOD TIMES AHEAD

The following are a few ideas for games and threads.  This is by no means a complete list; I'm totally open to suggestions.  In fact, I really want additional suggestions.  Please let me know what you'd like to see/do/play during the Reunion.

- "What have you been up to?" Thread (a definite must)

- Funny Screencap Thread

- Three Word Story Thread, the Beyond Season 7 Version (giving us a chance to get our own season 8 underway)

- Trivia Galore (we could start a post with a whole heap of questions for answering and people answer as they play, or we could post one question at a time with the person who answers correctly posting the next question)

- Scuzzle Game Thread (a scuzzle is a combination scavenger hunt and puzzle that involves both searching for clues and puzzling them together.  I'll take a photo of something awesometastic -- something Gilmore Girls related -- and cut it up into a certain amount of evenly-sized pieces.  I'll then take the pieces and hide them all around the ORG Forum.  Once all the pieces have been found, they can be arranged just like a puzzle.  When you’ve puzzled all the scuzzle pieces in the correct order you'll be able to see the awesometastic image.)

Again, those were just a few ideas.  Now share yours!

WHAT'S NEXT?

Once we hash out a few games and threads that will definitely be part of the Reunion, I'll start promoting our activities via e-mail announcements.  (I figure it's important to list some of the games and threads in the e-mail to try and entice old friends to return.)  If fellow Forum members could help spread the word by whatever means applicable, that would be most appreciated.

THINGS TO DO

  • Compile ideas for additional games and threads
  • E-mail ORG Reunion information and announcements
  • Organize and prepare the new threads (include creating imagery/graphics)
  • Spread the word!
  • Participate in the Reunion and have fun
  • Rest

There you have it.  Tell me what you think!  Spare my feelings not.  Go!  :V

I think those ideas are great, as always, Heidi!! A few thoughts...

I love the game threads (especially the scuzzle one) that you've mentioned. I think the trivia one might be fun if we post a question and the person who answers it correctly, posts the next question. It would allow for many different people to ask questions.

What about having a thread where people can talk about how they've kept Gilmore Girls in their lives/hearts/minds this past year and/or what they miss most about the show being aired weekly?

What about a thread for people to talk about their favorite ORG memories...or ORG moments? Does that make sense?

I'll think of some others. I think this event will be just awesome!! I can't wait!! Let me know if you need anything in completing your 'things to do' list! I'm going to be on vacation until the 18th but can certainly help with last minute things.

I'm really excited to hopefully 'meet' some of the members that were here long before I started! I hope people come back, even if only for a day! What a wonderful idea, Heidi! :pow:

Edit: Another fun thread that might be interesting, "Around the snack table" or something of that nature, where people can 'bring' things to share with others for the party/reunion. Often when people have birthdays, people will "bring" food items (post them) for others to 'share' and it's kind of interesting and fun. We could bring games to share like Monopoly or Sorry and of course hostess gifts! ;) Just a thought...I don't know if it would be used a ton, it would depend on if people knew how to post graphics/pics. It's just sometimes fun to see pictures of what people would 'bring' to a party, even though they aren't real. Can make it more festive?! Just a thought...

Love it all Heidi.  Especially the scuzzle game.   But all of those threads will create a great place for people to come back and share their thoughts.

I love this idea Mel.  We have had some pretty amazing things occur here over the duration of the ORG's existance.  I can think of things I would bring up from before I was here also that I find extremely interesting.  And special ORG words that hold interest.  And of course some special member moments.  I hope this category gets included for sure.

Yes, I love the speical words that I've come to use in my every day life from right here on the ORG...like 'How Excitement'! I just used that yesterday actually. And Heidi's new one above 'awesometastic' - LOVE IT! I can think of some great moments that I've had the pleasure of experiencing here - that wouldn't have happened had the ORG not existed. And I haven't been a member for a long time! I'm really interested to see what people say who were here before I was. I too, hope that one gets added.

What about a question and answer thread for members? Like one person would ask a question and then another would answer and ask a new question. It would be a different way of getting to know people. Just another thought...

Do we get a fun and special sig to wear for the actual event?? Oh we'll all look so pretty and dashing!! Maybe that could be an event, to make a sig for the event?

Anyone else??

I've had a few people ask about what the ORG Reunion was in other threads and I've directed them to this thread. I will go post again with the direct link to Heidi's latest detail post. :)

I'm not Heidi but seeing as though she is having computer problems, I may be able to shed some light Katie.

The boards are locked down as basically there are 8 pages of topics already and most of the desired topics over the years are covered.  Sadly so many people were starting new threads without looking to see if a similar one was already in existance that the boards were way too hard to keep organised.  So if you think you have a topic that you would like to start up, that is not already in existance then you need to request it through Heidi.

Cheers  :)

Woah, I missed a lot on this thread. Let's see...

1.  I survived the earthquake.  This was my thought process during the quake.  "Whoa, earthquake.  ::10 seconds later::  Wow, medium-sized earthquake.  ::10 seconds later::  Eesh, big earthquake."

3.  The Dodgers just acquired Manny Ramirez.  That might not mean a lot to non-baseball fans, but it's a good thing for me and my season tickets.  Be happy for me.
1. I survived the earthquake, too. I was scared and all alone! (While watching Gilmore Girls!)

3. Yup, Manny Ramirez, I'm right there with you. Wait...season tickets? You have season tickets?? :o

I have some friends who honestly want to get The Big One over with.  They can't stand wondering if it's going to happen five minutes from now, five years from now, or fifty years from now.
What is this 'Big One'?

So I retract it and claim to be Switzerland in this instance.
Twilight reference!  :highfive:

I like the "What Have You Been Up To?" and the Scuzzle threads. It all sounds good, though. And Mel's idea about .org memories/moments, I like that one.[/color]

Oh everyone hi!

I for one am excited for the reunion! I mean, I really haven't talked to anybody since I kind of just disappeared from a while ago. I never really "made my mark" on the boards but I do remember a few people. I won't be able to be on all three days, probably only one. But hey, I am still really excited. Sounds like people have some great ideas. =) Hugs to everyone. :)

Take my hand and drag me head first, fearless.

Friends,

I have some bad news to report.  In fact, I've been so not-looking-forward to writing this post that I've been putting it off for the past few hours.

I think it's in our best interest if we postpone the ORG Reunion for the time being.

Firstly, I take total responsibility for the postponement.  I said from the beginning that I would be all for a Reunion if it was planned well in advanced and organized properly ... and I simply failed to make that happen.  Work got in the way, life got in the way, unplanned events got in the way and I just didn't do my job to properly prepare.  I'm sorry for letting everyone down.  I really, truly feel terrible.

If we do a Reunion, and I still hope we do, I think it can be great.  It just needs more attention and planning than I could give something set for this weekend.  So, assuming we would still like to move forward (and assuming anyone has faith left in me), I really would like to have an ORG Reunion sometime in the near future.  One can hope that for a second go-around I will have learned from my mistakes and will be better able to time manage and delegate.

Again, my sincere apologies.

~Heidi

Life has a habit of doing that to the best of us Heidi.  Hope things are settling down a bit for you now.

I really want the Reunion to happen so I'm happy that we will still go ahead with it.  And I also agree that it is only worth doing if it's done well, so I'm all for taking the extra time to make sure that happens.

Again sorry thing are so hectic for you.  Take time to smell the roses and let me know when you want some input on the reorganising of the Reunion.

 :)

Heidi - Never feel bad about life and living it. I completely understand how life takes hold of you and holds you with both it's arms wrapped tightly around you. I hope that things settle down for you in the near future though. And I totally get the fact that you wanted this reunion to be a well prepared and thought out event. If time allows for it in the future, that's a grand event that I know will rock! But for now, just take good care of you! Focus on what you need to and don't worry about letting anyone down! You're a brilliant web admin. with great enthusiasm and a passion for your subject like no other! I hope that you can find peace in life and and if the reunion is the plans for the future, it will work out when it's time. And when and if it's that time again, you can definitely count me in! But until then, know that you're appreciated here and that we're in your corner!

Hmmm I was making a comment yesterday that it looked like we might reach 20,000 members by this weekend and it appears I missed the moment as we are already at 20,019.

Huge effort!!!!!!!!!!!
