Hey Melanie - so great to see you back around here again.  I know we've had the odd chat in your absence but there is nothing like the old gang hanging out here at the ORG.  Starting to feel very home-y again.  Very familiar.  :-*

Heidi:  LMAO that is one very entertaining story.  If this is a taste of what is to come with your random silliness - bring it on, I say.

Heidi! Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well, but it's great you're better  :)

So glad to have random silliness back! Like with the clock story. If that happened to me, it'd scare the heck out of me. I'd probably imagine myself in a horror film at that point  :D

LOL Heidi, you would spot something random like that. I never thought of reading clocks, but I've done the deal with making words on a calculator.

I think it might be time to get a new clock?! :) Glad that you're alive to tell about it though! I'm also glad that you're back to silliness! It's great to smile with others! ;D Can't wait for more!!

Yes, and what about the summer reunion that Caryn mentioned? Are we still on? Moving forward? Going ahead? I hope so!

I've seen a few people return here and there that once were members - but they came and went rather quickly. Summer is a busy time for people but it was great to see them again!

Well, first of all welcome back.  All the best of health to you Heidi. Im sure I speak for all the people here when I say its great to have you back. I was wondering, being that I bounce back and forth from here to STL.org with the hope to stoke the fire of the shows return. I was wondering if you could get on board also and get in touch with Nvr2old4GG over @ STL.org. We are all after the same thing, any type of continuation of our girls. If we can all stick together, all the sites unite, put our heads together, then maybe, just maybe we can be heard. Maybe we can all bounce ideas off each other, write letters, emails, anything will be a help. Most important thing is we dont give up hope. We all know that the show was not supposed to end this way. Lets join together and keep the faith. Please everybody bounce as i do and lets bring them back.

Hello Heidi!
I am soooooo sorry to learn that you have been under the weather for a few months!!!  I hope that you continue to feel better every day.  I am the annoying person who sent you a message a few weeks back asking for your help/advice/expertise with letting the "powers that be" know that the fans haven't given up on Amy Sherman-Palladino's version of a series finale.  I  sent a a personal letter and a slightly revised petition (with 12,500 signatures) to Peter Roth and the Palladinos at the beginning of May.  I sent a complete package to Lauren Graham today (NOW with 13,400 signatures).  I have sent a petiton, personal letter and partial signature copies (to conserve paper and postage) to:
Kelly Bishop
Edward Hermann
Scott Patterson and
Liza Weil  because they were very public in acknowledging that they thought the fans deserved more.

and Dawn Ostroff just as a courtesy.

I need to get 2 more complete copies done for Alexis Bledel and Les Moonves (because Dawn Ostroff answers to him and do we actually know that he was aware of the thousands of protests to the CW last May?).  I say "revised" because I don't think we will ever get an 8th season but I think it is only fair that Warner Brothers and the Palladinos decide what format they might use.......those 7 episodes, a mini-series or a made for TV movie.  My main purpose was to let them know how much we appreciate those 7seasons and that there is still so much interest in getting those last words and a "proper goodbye" from GG.  In March, Lauren was quoted as saying,

“I don’t know,” Lauren Graham said of the possibility of seeing the Gilmores on the big-screen someday. “I don’t know who makes those decisions. People always ask me that, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know’

I have like 2 or 3 people left who still kind of care [about my show]. I don’t know what the ‘Gilmore Girls’ movie would be about, probably because the show wasn’t really about much. Nothing much happened; we just talked a lot.”

by Arieanna on March 1st, 2008

I wanted Lauren to know that there are thousands more who care!  Anyway, when you are feeling better, maybe you could guide those who are still hopeful as to what we might do to encourage the Palladinos and Warner Brother's to consider that project Amy has said she was interested in doing. (It has been a year....and her quote was "maybe in a year or two......"  With a SAG/Actor's strike looming at the end of June........maybe there will be time for writers to focus new projects if they aren't involved with something at present.

And, just to be clear, I know that a large portion of the fans are young and don't have spare $$ hanging around, (that is why I paid to have the petition copied and mailed, myself) so I think we need to focus on creative things that we can mail.  Also, I e-mailed Michael Ausiello a few weeks ago but someone has let me know that he has left TVGuide and is going to Entertainment Weekly in a few weeks.  So, I don't know if he received my e-mail telling him that we sent petitions to Amy&Dan and Peter Roth.  It would be nice if we could just find out if Amy has been able to bring herself to watch season 7 and  thinks she can weave her version of a finale into how season 7 ended. At least that would give us hope or be a cold splash of water in our faces!
Can you advise/help/send us down the right path so no one thinks we are raving lunatics or giant nuisances?  That is THE LAST THING anyone wants!

I hope that you are feeling better!  :)
Sincerely,
Nvr2old4GG

Heidi Do the members stay active for eternity unless you delete them? In other words, if someone doesn't log in for a long period of time, does their account get automatically deleted at some point? Just curious when thinking about the reunion and it's possibilities. Thanks! :)

All accounts stay active unless they've participated in some kind of dubious shenanigans (posting 'bad' links, spamming the Forum, and so on).  Therefore, it's safe to say that our long time member accounts are still safe and available for the using.

Getting back to planning the reunion, did we come to a rough conclusion as far as the date is concerned?  Personally, I'm thinking late July or August.

Thanks!

Not really sure when it should be.  I would think that is best a decision made by the US members as we don't have a break here like you guys so I couldn't really comment on what the norm is for people's summer vacation habits.

Most important thing is we dont give up hope. We all know that the show was not supposed to end this way. Lets join together and keep the faith. Please everybody bounce as i do and lets bring them back.

I say "revised" because I don't think we will ever get an 8th season but I think it is only fair that Warner Brothers and the Palladinos decide what format they might use.......those 7 episodes, a mini-series or a made for TV movie.

Personally for me this ship has long sailed.  I'm just enjoying rewatching the most amazing show that ever was.  If we were ever going to have a major chance at getting the type of continuation I was hoping for (extra season, not a movie) then it needed to happen within a short window of time after the series end.  My thoughts are now that the costs would be way to high for any network to consider bringing back the show for one/two final season/s done how we'd all like it.  Sets, props and crew costs are high enough to scrape back together for a wrap up, but add to that the cast costs, particularly that of both Alexis and Lauren who had made it clear they felt they deserved more after their lengthy service (and rightly so), I just don't see it happening.

Well that just my two cents on the subject anyways - I'm sure others have their own opinions.  And their are other newer members who may very well feel there is hope left in the cause.  Perhaps you guys could rejuvinate the Mandate thread or post in the movie thread as I know there is the occasional talk of this there.  And good luck.

Thanks, Heidi! That's awesome too, because there's someone I was going to PM in the event they come back here and am glad to know their account should still be there.

As far as the date for the reunion, I think we had thought later summer months (July/August) when last discussing. Maybe having it in early August, when people are thinking about getting back to school, but before they actually get busy with that again? For those in the US, July or August might work the best. However, for those in other parts of the world, since there's no break like we have, is there another holiday that during the next few months that might get allow people a little break to come back and check in? What do other in the US think for dates?

Will this be a one day thing or did we discuss having it be a few days/weekend length?

What are you thinking as far as "festivities", Heidi? Or have you not reached that part of the planning yet? No pressure! Let me know what you need help with, I'm happy to do what I can! ;D

How excitement! A reunion is in the works! :celebrate:

There are no holidays around this time in Melbourne, Australia.  So I think any time around early August would be fine.  However I'll be away on the weekend of August 16th so I can't make it if it's then.  And Mel I think you are right we did discuss that making it last over a few days would mean that more people could make it at some point.

I'm also curious for the festivities.  Will it be things likes games, trivia, etc., or did you have something else in mind Heidi?

Ooo...I'm all about the games and trivia! Maybe Org related trivia? And perhaps some sort of getting to know you thing that would reacquaint us with each other again? Maybe that's a bit too cheesy?! But festivities sound like great fun! :juggle:

I was going through my graphics/pictures for posts file in photobucket and came across this one, I thought I'd post here because for some reason it made me think of Heidi!

Hope you don't mind! :)

I definitely don't think that's too cheesy.  In my opinion, a major part of the fun will be getting updates from everyone as far as what they've been up to.  The reunion will hopefully be a mix of games/trivia/silliness plus an element of 'real life'.

I'll consult my calendar in the next few days and we'll nail down a reunion weekend shortly.

That all sounds wonderful! As always, thanks for everything you do on both Orgs! You're an inspiration! And again, let us know when you need help with the reunion! I'm so looking forward to it. Who knows, one day I may be one who's gone away and will be thrilled to get an e-mail inviting me back to catch up with my Org buddies once again! ;D
