Hi gang,

I've been wanting to try something for a while.  It's either going to be a hit or a flop, but I won't know unless I try ... so I'm going to try.  ;)

How many of you are familiar with Twitter.com?  (If you have no idea what it's about, I suggest stopping by and/or checking our their FAQ page.)  Basically, Twitter is a mini-blogging tool used to update friends and family.

Gah!  This is harder to explain than I imagined.

I created a GilmoreGirls.org account on Twitter.  Now that I have an account, interested people can 'follow' me (meaning, interested people can get updates when I post them).  The fun part about Twitter is that you have a variety of ways to receive those updates.  You can view them online, get a text message sent to your phone, etc.

Maybe you're thinking, "Heidi, what's the point of all this?"  Well, there's no point.  It's just for fun.  For example, the next time I spot Sally Struthers at my local mail place I can send a text message from my phone to Twitter and that message will automatically be sent to all my followers.

Like I said, this idea may totally fail, but I thought it was worth a try.  I'm still a Twitter noob myself, so I'm just learning.  Perhaps we can all learn together.  Please post and questions or comments!  Thank you.

Coolness! I'm liking this Twitter "ORG" idea just from reading about it. I'm behind on some threads around the forum, but I'll check out Twitter when I'm finished!

BTW, the new poll is pretty hilarious. I just have to choose an answer!

Wow, I spent a good part of my afternoon catching up on this thread.  So much as happened and I'm psyched.

Bits & pieces of my thoughts :
Goals resolutions, that post of yours is exactly how I've always felt Heidi.  Resolutions seem so hollow to me.

B, Kiva loans, I heard about them sometime last year and I LOVE the idea of a GG.org charity ... more to add on that thread laters.

As to the fruit, I LOVE Clementines & pomegranites.  I've been squirted all over eating pomegranites before and boy can those things stain!

Heidi, I went to your twitter link and I can't see anything.  It says 'my updates are protected'.  Do I need to join or something?

Hehe thanks for posting that Melissa. ;)

Heidi, that was my question as well. The FAQ says that one doesn't have to be a member to "follow" someone, but I'm still unsure on how to do it?

I just joined twitter (very easy - takes less than a minute or so) and when you do that it gives you the opportunity to search for friends to follow then.  So I am now officially waiting for some updates on your star spotting efforts Heidi!  I'm Butterflygal btw.

I've made my vote for the poll also.  I too went the grapefruit option.  Seems the most likely to me!

OK! OK! I finally made the vote to your poll, Heidi! I was trying to wait to figure out which one...because I was having a dilemma but now I've got it...because the other morning, Wednesday I think it was, I was eating a grapefruit because I was craving them (not the best this time of the year here) and it squirted me square in the eye!! So...there, that's my pick! We'll see if I'm right soon, hopefully!!

I think this is the first time that I've shared my answer to the poll...hopefully it will allow for me not to forget what I answered this time! :P haha!

Please read the Forum Rules and enjoy~

What's with all of the attacking grapefruit around here?  I think they need to be punished!   I have a love/hate relationship with them, sometimes they are sweet and sometimes they are just too dang sour.

I voted for the clementine. I ate those things like crazy while in Colorado and at times they would go nuts with squirting juice everywhere! Luckily, none got in my eye but the jucie would always end up on my sweats. >:(

I was super close to choosing grapefruit, but my gut told me to pick the clementine. Watch my answer be wrong.. ::)

Down with the grapefruit! Just kidding. I never really understood why it was called a grapefruit. I will have to look into that. I mean, there is already a fruit called a grape and those are purple and/or green and somewhat small. But a grapefruit is this big honking thing that woudl really hurt somebody if you threw it at them. I don't know why someone would ever use a grapefruit as a weapon, but this is just my random thought process. I'm not crazy I promise!

Heh!  I love how these polls, no matter how random, always bring up the funniest conversations.  Especially you post before this Katy - hilarious :D  Funnier because you know at some point we've all thought it, but none could express it quite like you just did.

Just wondering do other countries get Pink or Ruby Grapefruit?  Because I'm a much bigger fan of them!!

Friends,

I'm calling upon the power of the ORG Forum to help me track down a "Hang in there, baby" kitten/cat poster.  I've been searching for a good while with zero luck.  For whatever reason, this kind of poster seems to be rather hard to track down.

Desired criteria:

  •   Must say, "Hang in there, baby" (vs. simply "Hang in there")
  •   The poster should be in color (unless someone comes across the original)
  •   Overall, the poster should be relatively cute

Examples of what I'm looking for:

(I actually found something close to the above poster, unfortunately there's no "Hang in there, baby" text.)

So, if anyone has a little free time on their hands, gets bored one day, or is just an excellent Interweb sleuth I would really appreciate any and all help.  Additionally, if anyone comes across a similar poster 'in real life' I'd be more than willing to send you money for both it and all shipping costs.

There you have it.  Thank you for reading possibly the most random post I've ever made.  :V

I used to have one, but I don't think it said baby.  I'm sure it came from Scholastic book orders, as a child I had a closet door full of them and quite often they'd come free or only be like 50 cents.  Come to think of it I've probably seen the 'baby' in a classroom somewhere.  Shell might be a good source for this challenge...  And to respond to a random post w/ more randomness, where are those screencaps from.  Is the 1st from House, and the 2bd from GG?  (if so which eppy?) Oh and now you realize you'll probably be the proud owner of like 10 of these...;)

Katy's post pushed me to do some gooogling, I hope I didn't beat you to the punch.
Quote
"The grapefruit is a sub-tropical citrus tree grown for its fruit which was originally named the "forbidden fruit" of Barbados.[1] ...

The grapefruit was known as the shaddock or shattuck until the 1800s. Its current name alludes to clusters of the fruit on the tree, which often appear similar to grapes. Botanically, it was not distinguished from the pomelo until the 1830s, when it was given the name Citrus paradisi. Its true origins were not determined until the 1940s. This led to the official name being altered to Citrus × paradisi.[4][5] Grapefruit peel oil is used in aromatherapy and it is historically known for its aromatic scent.[6]

And yes Caryn we have the Ruby Red here, check that article ... they started here!

Citrus fruits this time of the year - death grip cold winter- are like a breath of fresh tropical air.  [/color]

The first cap is from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the second is from Related.

Heh, I'd be ecstatic to own ten "Hang in there, baby" posters (okay, two would probably be my max), but I think you'll find this task to be harder than you imagine.  I have no idea why these kinds of posters are so hard to find.  One of my pet peeves is when I want to buy something and for whatever reason can't find what I'm looking for.  Help me spend my money and support the economy.  ;)
