Personally I like the idea of something you can have.  also been proven to be more effective, more people will donate if they get something in return. Hence the breast cancer bracelets, daffodil day etc

Eye spy with my little eye...... 36 votes completed for Heidi's poll.  You're up Heidi!!!! ;D

(Can you tell I've just spent a whole heap of time with my kids in the car over the last two days?) :P
;)
I just stopped by the thread and was about to post something about the poll having all 36 votes!

Also, I wanted to say that today we had lunch (I'm still sick, but slowly getting better! at least I can eat again.) from a deli called Heidi's!! I couldn't help but keep thinking of "our" Heidi. :)

:celebrate: Whoo Hoo! There's finally 36 votes! It's about time! It seems like this time took an extra long time to compile the specified number of votes for some reason. Holidays probably! Can't wait to hear your answer and thoughts on charitable activities.

Question: My nickname is Nite Heidi, but I've recently started trying to go to bed sooner.  What's my new self-imposed bedtime?

11:00 PM - 3 (8.3%)
Midnight - 11 (30.6%)
1:00 AM - 11 (30.6%)
2:00 AM - 7 (19.4%)
3:00 AM - 0 (0%)
4:00 AM - 0 (0%)
My liquid diet provides all the sleep I need - 4 (11.1%)

Total Votes: 36

Congrats to those who voted for 1:00 AM!  Though, I have to admit, old habits are hard to break.  Since creating the poll, I've already fallen off the bandwagon twice.  :/  I did really well for about week or so and then reverted back to my old ways.  I quickly gave myself a kick in the pants and thought, "It's for your own good, go to bed early!" ... which again worked for about a week.  But I still get a F- as I've been going to bed around 3:00 AM for the past few days.

In other news, I've read everyone's posts about having the ORG sponsor some kind of charitable cause.  I'd definitely love for us to do something collectively.  I suppose my main concern would be picking the specific charitable cause.  We'd want something that appeals to many ORG members since the goal would be to attract as much positive attention as possible.  There are lots of fine details to work out, but if it's something we really believe in and want to move forward with it doesn't hurt to at least do some research.

Remember when we were working with the Great8Mandate, and we were thinking about doing a charitable donation then in the honor of one of the cast members of GG. Perhaps we might start looking at what either Lauren or Alexis support again? That might be something that a lot of members would agree to give to? I agree, it might be hard to find something that so many are passionate about and willing to donate to. There are so many details but I think if we can work them out, it would definitely be worth it!! It's amazing what the members of the org have done just in the short time I've been here!

And yet again, I don't think I picked the right answer. I think I was being a little too optamistic and went with 12:00 midnight. That's the time I should have gone to bed at tonight! So, it looks like I'll be joining you with the 1:00 AM time tonight. And yes, it is good to get to bed early. Every time I see something on he news about how we need at least 8 hour of sleep, I cringe because I typically get no where NEAR that much! Oh how I do love sleep though! Thus, off I go...

Thanks for another great poll, Heidi! And for taking the time to read through our back-and-fourth on the charity idea!

Sooks, that sounds like a wonderful idea! I am sure that plenty of others around here would agree as well.

I also heard about he donating money to the UCLA Breast Cancer Research Program.  I didnt know it was her poker winning but that is just amazing!

I seem te remember reading somewhere that one of her favorite charities was the Fresh Air Fund.  I think a lot of celebrities donate to the Fresh Air Fund

Oh, and she did that ad for recyling, I think.  Ya know, the one where she was giving suggestions, and told restaurant owners to re-use the parsley, cuz no one eats it anyway?

Ditto. :)

About the charity cause, we have a club in school and we're also using that same link to help contribute to the cause of genocide in specific places. There's also a site: www.freerice.com . You just play a game and the poor get rice! I play it every single day, so if you want to individually help others, go there. :)

||Never say good-bye, because good-bye means going away, and going away..means forgetting.||

Don't worry, I'm not forgetting. :) Bye bye, ORG.

We play that game at school. I think that is such a good cause. You donate by building your vocabulary.

Yay!   I think this is the first of all your polls Heidi that I've chosen correctly.  About time!!! ;D

On the subject of a charity to support, I like the idea of picking a cause that has a link to the show.  Not sure how feasible they are as opposed the the easier more accesible methods set up for the kinds that B has mentioned, but I just like the synchronicity of something show related.  Although the idea of supporting any charity is appealing to me.

 :)

My preference for a charitable cause would be something that we could track over time.  Of course it's fantastic to donate X amount of money to a non-profit, but it might be a little more engaging if we're able to know exactly how the money is spent or if we're kept up to date on details.  So, that's my two cents.

In other news, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who continues to visit the ORG.  Earlier today we had something like 44 guests and 16 registered users online.  That's fantastic and means so much to me.  Thank you.

I think that's a good point also.  It will be easier to sustain Org interest and participation if we can see updates of our progress.

When you say "track over time" do you mean something like if the org (its members) were to adopt a child? I have done that and you get to write letters to your child and they write to you. And the holidays are fun because you can give extra money for that month's donation so they can get something extra special for Christmas and their birthday. It's fun to see how the child has grown and what they're learning and doing because of your donation. The child would have a great big family here! :) So much love! Just a thought that came when I read your idea, Heidi!
