But he's a rescue, so I don't want to freak him out by giving him a new name right away, so I'm going to get to the name I want to give him in baby steps. [She grunts as she picks him up and carries him down the stairs.]

LORELAI: That's right. I'm skipping the fancy in-between thing and going straight for the gold. I'm calling you Paul Anka. Paul Anka the dog.

[She walks off-screen. We hear the dog bark.]

LORELAI [OS]: Oh, you don't like mailboxes. Got it.

LORELAI: You locked the door? Dude, come on. I mean, I've got the key, but I'm really curious how you did this.

NOTE: That's all for now, but I'm editing.  Anyone got any good reasons we love Paul Anka?  I'm tired and my brain is not functioning properly, so I can't think of anything.

I really like Paul Anka but I think he's just to fill the spot Rory left empty which makes e really sad.  I'm mad at Rory for doing this to her mom.  I hope she keeps him once Rory and Lorelai get back together(hopefully soon)  I loved when Luke took him to the vets

I love Paul Anka!  Okay, so I love dogs, anyway, but he's adorable.  And he's Lorelai's, so that kinda puts him ahead naturally.  Sooo cute.  It cracks me up how picky he is with the "scary" foods and all.  I also found it incredibly sweet when Luke rushed him to the vet because of the chocolate incident.

Paul Anka sort of reminds me of my own dog.  She has the most quirks I've ever seen.  I mean she's afaid of mailboxes, the vacuum, seaweed, her purple leash, and ducks (but she's a golden retriever.  go figure :-)).  She also has this thing where she bashes into our couch every morining, without fail.  She hits it so hard it moves.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but it's been bugging me forever, why did Lorelai name the dog Paul Anka?

I don't think anyone has asked that and it's been bugging me too.  I get that you know...there's a guy named Paul Anka, but that particular person seems a little too random even for Lorelai.

Exactly, and I know there was a guy named Paul Anka, but I can't for the life of me remember who is and what he did, and even so, why Lorelai would choose that particular person.
