Dean was awlays one of my favorites, he's cute, sensitive, but there was only one problem, he was to judgmental and overprotecive of Rory and her ideas. He awlays thought she was either cheating on him or stupid for doing something...I really hoped one of the times he'd change for her but he never did. I really hoped he was going to be happy with his wife too.

I think the early Dean was a great boyfriend. Definaly better than Jess who was a total jerk. I still can't understand how Rory left Dean for Jess???
Dean never deserved to be treated lousy. He really loved Rory, he treated her well, he did all the stupid and annoying things that she asked him to do and Dean never made her cry. (except when they broke up but that was a different thing).

He was decent, someone you count on, protective, sweet and he cared enough about Rory to make Lorelai likes him unlike Jess who's always been hated by Lorelai and for good reasons. After Jess had become Rory's boyfriend he never really tried to be likable by Lorelai, that was not important to him. Here we see that Dean took the higher road. Come to think of it, Dean was the only boyfriend that Lorelai thought was good for Rory. That says a lot.

Dean was also patient with Rory even though she was so selfish and insensitive. I like how he never backed down infront of Jess. He doesn't like to fight but he's not afraid of fighting either.

I personally don't think Dean's personality could have ever turned to what it did in season 4 & 5. I think the writers were just trying to go with Jess's fans; making Dean look bad and Jess better. It doesn't make any sense; if a 16 years old guy is so together at 16 then how can he be so careless and lost years later.

Looks like all hope is lost for those Dean fans that were hoping for a shot with him in real life.  Rumour has it that he has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Sandra McCoy whilst attending a Supernatural convention over the past weekend.  Will post an article in the cast and news section of the boards.

I am really confused when i read other threads where people call Dean over and over again: "needy". If early Dean ever acted a little needy it's after he'd realized what was going with Rory & Jess, so i don't see it so much as needy as fearing of losing someone you love. Many people, -when they feel their partner pull away- try to show them how much they care about them. It's just natural. If Dean just let go(instead of being what's- so- called: "needy") then he would be a jerk, probably not much better than Luke when he just let Lorelai go in the season 6 final.

I am a fan of early Dean. I think he was a great guy. He cared for Rory so much that he even was friendly with Lorelai because he knew how much she meant to Rory, how many of her boyfriends were willing to do that? So he was thoughtful and  most of all he was not Jess, that to me the greatst "compliment" i can give to anyone.

I agree and i  am also a big fan of the early Dean. The "needy" or overly-protective factor showed itself with Tristan as well. It's just the kind of guy Dean is, he gets pissed with guys who are wise-guys, give him a hard time and make moves on his girlfriend. That is perfectly natural. There is no perfect way to handle a situation like that and Dean did better than most, if anything only because he restrained himself from bopping Jess in the nose.

Jess had his own insecure moments when he and Rory were a couple and Dean made a point of hanging around. Jess felt agitated inside but he hid his feelings better than Dean, which is not necessarily a good thing.

I like when Dean told Jess after his break up with Rory, that he doesn't have to hold his temper now and that he can just be the same pain that Jess was. I consider that "bopping Jess in the nose". 8)

Jess didn't really hide his jealousy of Dean, remember that swan episode, he was so angry when Rory and Luke accused him of fighting with Dean. Also when he knew that Rory sat next to Dean in the town meeting. He mocks Dean but truth is he feels insecure when it comes to Dean, especially with the height conflict.

^ ^ Yeah, he told Jess, "this is my  town". By that point, it was his town and he was depicted as a local as much as anyone else.

I didn't think Jess was being jealous in the swan episode, i thought the bad-boy was resenting that everyone automatically assumed he would be the trouble maker. And, let's face it, why should anyone give him the benefit of the doubt? He earned his rep. I meant that Jess expresses his jealousy in a different way or in a less obvious way, he's more defensive and guarded about showing how he feels. By comparison, when Dean is jealous it comes across as more blatant.

I don't think Jess was upset because of the bad boy image but attaching the whole thing to Dean or maybe the idea that Dean could give him a black eye! And that's why Luke pointed out that being jealous of Dean would do him no good.

Hey, do you think that if Jess stayed in S.H we would hear him say "this is my town"? Nah, i don't think so. It's funny though to imagine it.

Was a bit shocked with this news.  Was over at Gilmore Girls News #1 Community for Gilmore Girls and saw that, at a convention in Dallas, Jared Padalecki said that he and fiance Sandra McCoy have split up.  WOW!!!

I loved Dean and I was so sad when they turned his character into a grungy looking cheater in Season 4 and 5.

Dean was a bit of a cheater if you look at it like that, but I don't know, I think they tried to portray him as a guy that truly loved Rory but was pushed out by Jess and just wanted her back. I would have liked Jess for Rory's boyfriend if he didn't always push to get her. I loved the ep where Hep Alien plays and Dean beats up Jess. Even when Dean gets nothing out of it he would still protect Rory. He was so great. Rory was really mean to him and he still loved her, that's just huge to me.
We Deanites are always getting picked on by the Jess' and the Logans, we just think he's better than them. I don't know. It's not that we hate them, we just love Dean more. just thought I'd interject that little thought.

~Thanks Katie! I love it!
