I caught part of this episode yet again on ABC Family and that final scene is so sad for Lorelai. What gets me most is not Emily doing her usual snarky thing at Lorelai's expense but the fact that Richard has no idea how Lorelai feels or the range of emotions she has been experiencing. He is bonding with Rory in a way that he never bonded with Lorelai and it would not occur to him that it would impact Lorelai. I mean, there was never a connection between them before and if he thought about it at all he would likely assume that Lorelai doesn't even care. Lorelai herself probably didn't give it too much thought over the years except in certain introspective moments; painful though it would be, i'm guessing she simply accepted the disconnect with her father as a fact of life.

I thought this was a great episode for its balance of drama and humor.  I liked the hat.  Very rastafarian.

Of course Lorelai is jealous because Rory not only had a good time with Richard but is more eager to spend time with him and talk to him.  With Rory, I think Richard found the void that he lost with Lorelai and the fact that he can connect with Rory on an intellectual and emotional level.  It was sad that Lorelai got left out in the end but again, it was an example of how fragile her relationship with her parents are.

Something that they would all try to repair where by Virtual Gilmore Girls Season 8, Lorelai enjoys her time with her parents while even suggesting a movie night with them and even thanked her mother for the Dragonfly Inn/spa expansion for brainstorming the project.

The funny moments about Michel's fear of swans and Sookie's relationship with Jackson.  Oh, that's so funny when she's chasing him because he was so upset.

I really enjoyed seeing Rory bond with Richard in this episode. As much as we hear Lorelai say things which indicate that Rory is like the daughter Richard and Emily never had, and as much as we hate that fact about Lorelai's relationship with her parents, I think it makes Richard feel good to have a granddaughter he can take to the club and be proud of around his friends and business contacts/partners. We see Richard make comments toward Lorelai about being proud of her Inn work later in the series, but for right now I'm content with at least one functional relationship on the show. The only thing that throws a little water on the flame is Emily's snide-ness about how she was right and Lorelai was wrong. That seems to be all she's about. I felt Lorelai was being a little childish about the fact that Rory had fun at the golf outing, and about the "quite." I was glad to see her apologize at the end...I hate to see the Gilmore Girls argue.

Those twins were so obnoxious, they almost reminded me of the twins at Yale that Emily tells to look Rory up and make sure she falls in with the right crowd. I think their mother was HILARIOUS, it's not cool for a mom to be so hateful towards her children, but having watched these two stuck up, spoiled brats throughout the episode, I really couldn't blame her. Lorelai's problem solving skills ("Why don't we give them a choice of soup OR salad?") are just simply amazing. Choices...who'd have thought?

Thumbs up on this one, I hate Emily.

Rory:I love you, mom.
Lorelai:Aw...kid, you have no idea.

The Bridal Mom had me LMAO.

Seriously can't stand Rory's grandmother, she clearly gets off on trashing her daughter.

I am really glad to find someone who feels the same way I do about Emily.  She is such a self centered, manipultive, rich B**** and I really hate the way she treats Lorelai, but I love the way Lorelai will take it for Rory's sake.

The mom of the brides was funny

When someone working on the show described that Emily is controlling and judgmental and things like that, Amy answered by saying "i don't see Emily like that. I think she's the only voice of reality in the show". I think Emily with all her flaws tries to keep things real. I love Lorelai but for me, i often feel that Lorelai is being immature about her relationship with her mother. It's like she's a teenager. Lorelai is in her late 30s but she keeps talking about how Emily two decades ago was controlling and didn't let her be. It's not like Lorelai listened to every word Emily said when she was young, she acted as she wanted and didn't follow the rules so i don't know how "innocent" Lorelai was. The grown-up Lorelai even blamed her pregnancy on her controlling mom a couple of times at least. Too often i think "get over it already".

I loved the dress, too.  It was a great color for Lorelai/Lauren plus it really showed off her beautiful figure.

The Advil comment was funny.

Okay, SIDNEY, here we go again.  We never do agree with each other when it comes to Emily.  You like her and I don't.  I agree that Lorelai wasn't all that innocent and was partially to blame for a lot that went on between Emily and herself and that Lorelai held on to a lot that had happened before she took off with Rory.  However, I don't think that she brought it to Friday Night Dinners or any other time any where near as much as Emily did.  Lorelai tried to let it pass and be nice to Emily, but Emily would always bring up something from the past or just be really mean to Lorelai.  Many times she would just ignore Lorelai as soon as she got a hold of Rory coming in the front door.  She would grab her and walk away from Lorelai just leaving her standing there.  If she truely wanted Lorelai back in her life and cared about her, she would have let it go and accepted her for the great mother that she was to Rory and given her credit for how great Rory turned out even without all of the 'stuff' that money could buy or the support of her family or Rory's dad.  And how well, Lorelai did for herself.  IMO Emily is the one who just couldn't/wouldn't  let go of it.  Lorelai wouldn't have brought up how controlling Emily was or how terrible her life was back then if Emily herself was more mature about the whole mess.  I don't think that Lorelai blamed Emily for her getting pregnat when she was saying that Emily was so controlling.  She was just saying that her life would have been different if Emily had given her space to do some things that she wanted to do.  If she had been able to do so, maybe she wouldn't have been such a rebel and did things that Emily wouldn't have allowed her to do.  That was the fun of it.  The rebelling just happened to lead to having sex with Chris.  Lorelai didn't follow the 'rules' that Emily made because she didn't like that kind of life.  She didn't want her life dictated to her just because of money and blood lines and that she was expected to do and say certain things just because that is the way the bluebloods in New England were to do them.  I know that I would hate that.  I know that I would rather be without all of that money and privleges if that is the life I would have to have just to be rich.  I thank God that my relationship with my mother was more like that of Rory and Lorelai.  If it had been like Lorelai and Emily's, there would have been a whole country between us, not just 30 miles.  Well, you get my take on this subject and again, SIDNEY, we just have to agree that we will never agree on the subject of Lorelai vs Emily.

I loved this episode! Richard and Rory at the country club were just hilarious! The storyline was good.

I had watched this episode on tv episodes online for free. I enjoyed it.
