Summary: Determined to win the annual Stars Hollow 24-hour dance marathon, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) forces Rory (Alexis Bledel) to be her partner. While everyone in town dances around them, Rory and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) can't seem to stop arguing with each other, a fact that is not lost on Dean (Jared Padalecki). Meanwhile, Lane (Keiko Agena) and Paris (Liza Weil) are both surprised when the boys they like drop by to see them.

This episode was so fun.I loved when David impressed mrs. Kim by
praising her egg salad sandwiches! I also love it when Jess has "something
he has to do" after rory and dean break up....which is of course drop Shane,
thank heavens.

This is one of my favorites too, but apparently for different reasons.† Because Dean finally gets a spine and tells Rory off.† I won't quote the whole thing, although it is just so beautiful.† But, the last bit: "Everyone can see, Rory! Everyone. And I'm tired, but I'm over it, so go ahead, go. Be together. There's nothing standing in your way now, 'cause I'm out."† And, then he walks away.† Didn't need to wait to see if his words had any effect, didn't need to see if she ran to Jess or decided to call him back.† Because he had regained his self respect and that was enough.† If anyone heard a WHOO-HOO, Baby!!! during the episode, that was me.† Ah, Dean.† They got you back later, but for one shining moment, you were the man!

And, I felt sorry for Shane, who didn't deserve Rory trashing her, or Jess just using her as a way to make Rory jealous.

Oh, and one thing I also liked.  Jess has no problems being rude to anyone, but Mrs. Kim gives him "the look" and he immediately adds a "ma'am"  She should be a prison warden:)

I like this one to but if you think about it if the haddn't dressed the way they did and Lorelai's shoe wouldn't have broken the fight between Rory and Jess really most likely wouldn't have happened and Rory and Dean wouldn't have broken up. Although I can't really say I hate Dean because I don't and I can't say I hate Jess because I don't I like them both. And I love the fact that Dave uses every excuse to see Lane and to some how get Mrs. Kim's approval.

Even if it hadn't happened this episode, I'm sure Dean would have found his (temporary) spine and they would have broken up at some point.  But, again, I'm glad it happened here.

I agree that Dean did finally show that he wasn't going to be used by Rory
to make Jess jealous -good for him. And as for Shane, yeah, it was sad that
she was being used too, but I can't feel bad for her because of her character-
She didn't have a mind of her own at all, she just wanted to get some, and I think
it was pretty obvious she didn't care about Jess anyway.
It was inevetible that Jess and Rory would get together sometime. (inavetible?)

I don't think they really said much about what Shane was like.  But, I think the reason they didn't go into detail about Shane is that they wanted to justify Rory and Jess' behavior.  Don't make Shane a dimensional enough character for the audience to get to know, and people won't really care what happens to her.  She's just a prop for the Dean/Rory/Jess triangle.  But, it's really about how Rory and Jess behaved.  And, they both behaved badly.  It didn't matter who was on the receiving end.

Still, after Rachell, the show has never been good about making characters who represent an obstacle to any coupling three-dimensional.

Luke told Lorelai that he had glue at the diner that he could use to fix her shoe but he was seen gluing it in the gym so where did Lorelai go and why didnít she see the break-up if she never left the gym?

Okay, I just watched the episode to try and figure this out.  There is no mention or why Lorelai left or where she went to.  I can only assume that maybe she and Luke walked back to the diner or she went to the bathroom or something like that, but no real reason is given for why Lorelai comes running back into the gym and missed the break up.
