More from SassyPaws:

From SassyPaws:

Apparently the girls were under the impression that the advertisers had threatened the CW with withdrawing all network ad money if they did not deliver Gilmore's coveted females teen audience. That led the girls to believe that they had the backing of the advertisers and could force the network do anything they wanted. They greatly miscalculated since apparently the advertisers are really pleased with the crop of new pilots and, though they like GG, they aren’t that concern with its demise.
Despite the public persona that has been presented by Lauren, according to my sources, she was totally shocked when the network ended negotiations and is not happy at all with the fallout that is rippling through Hollywood.

At this point I'm choosing not to believe in anyone, esp. because we'll always get conflicting reports. But for the record (and to do her some justice), SassyPaws was the one who assured many of us that Season 8 was more likely than not (and she was right at that time).

Some revealing news on why the CW canceled the show:

From Spoilerjunkies (at Live Journal):

Quote
From SassyPaws on TWOP:

My Friend at GG has sent me more information regarding the issue that finally caused the network to end the negotiations...

The girls had agreed to a 13 week season with a very generous pay increase. All that was needed was the signatures. Then, after the contacts had been drawn up and approved by everyone’s legal team, the girls came back and told the network that they wanted to change the number of episodes down to 8. That was the deal breaker. It wasn’t worth it to the network.

All the more reason we keep fighting.

Oh, Nemova, that's great!  Fans are fans wherever they come from, tell 'em to come on over!  We'd love to have any help that they can give us!

Season 8:  Because I'm jumping, Jack.

I know one of them is already sending out emails. I keep telling them to come here and join our crusade to save GG.

Thanks for your post, Rob. I'm honestly sick and tired of people's negativity and pessimistic response to our efforts to save the show. I got this vibe almost everywhere I posted about the Great8Mandate. The only place I was received with some optimism was, strange as it is, a fashion forum. I get it that some fans don't want the show back next year/are glad that it's finally gone or just think that getting it un-cancelled is too big of a stunt for us to pull, but it doesn't mean they should try and convince us otherwise or even demean our efforts. We have the right to be upset and to want an eighth season just as much they have the right to not want it.

No offense to those of you who are organizing this campaign, but campaigns of this kind normally only work if a  network has decided to cancel a show because of low ratings. Strong indications of support from dedicated fans can sometimes turn that decision around. However, if it's the network who is willing to save the show but the *actors* aren't willing, then audience support is not a relevant factor.

I love the show and hate to see it go but if the actors have turned down numerous offers to continue and have decided they would rather not go forward, all the audience fervor in the world isn't going to save it.

I think we all need to start dedicating our emotional energy to surviving viewing The Last Episode...

But in the meantime we can still fight for the show. One thing doesn't cancel out the other.  Smiley

I'm posting from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. You guys would be surprised by the amount of fans the show has over here.

Thanks for posting the picture! And welcome to the board Smiley

I don't live in the US too and know how you feel about u wanna do so much stuff but live so far away!

But I think, writing a letter would be worth a try! I assume that it would arrive there in less than 2 weeks .. there's also the option of sending an email to Ms. Ostroff which would also be a big help as we really need to show that SO many people still want to fight for they show and stand behind it & support it .. All the contact addresses (also e-mail) can be found on page 1 Smiley

Thanks for the warm reception and you're welcome! I'm thinking about sending some letters, they'd probably arrive in 5 business days, but I still wish I could do more. I'm not ready to let go of this show yet.

Hi guys,

I found the picture of Lorelai sitting amidst the 1000 yellow daisies at Quintessence.

Here it is:

I already sent my email to Dawn Ostroff. I wish I could do much more than this but I don't live in the US.
