Hi everyone,

Apologies first up if this is not the right place to put this topic and if this is old news, but I just had to let the Aussie GG fans that I know visit here know that finally we are getting Season 7 on DVD - before it is even shown on TV!!!  I just got notification from EzyDVD that this would be available for purchase on Wednesday 9th of April.  Horray, Horray, Horray!!

any suggestions?Huh

If you're still looking for ways to help, maybe you can let Australian GG clubs know about the new website (and petition, if the don't know about it).   This week I've been spreading the word in GG clubs on Yahoo Groups and a noticed a handful of Austalian ones.   Just a tiny suggestion, no big deal.   Smiley

For anyone else who wants to help on yahoo, here are the clubs I hit already:
Gilmore Girls Fanclub, Gilmore Girls Rocking World, Gilmore Girls Arena, Gilmore Girls Cafe, GilmoreGirlsStarsHollow, Gilmore_Girls, GilmoreGirlsGalore, Milos_Tree_Hill and a few others.

The fans over there didn't know about the new website or the petition.

Hey Chocolat,
I have been doing the same thing over here in Australia, trying to get the message out.  Could use all the help I can get, so c'mon Aussie GG fans, bombard all the message boards and site you know with the news about the great things the fans are doing all over the world to save the Loraleis!!

thanks for getting back to me on that?? so do u think we all should be still voting?Huh im in australia and really can not do too much. i have been sending postcards and letters to the addresses, with no replies. So all i can do is really vote??? so what do u think?Huh KEEP VOTING?? or GIVE UP voting in TEAVEE.com

If keep voting we need loads of help in that area as at times there is only 2 of us there, where on other shows there are over 10 of them?Huh any suggestions?Huh

Hi Ann
I'm an Aussie too.  Just keep sending the postcards and letters, that is pretty much all us Aussies can do and don't worry about not getting a reply because you won't get one.  The other thing that we could do that I have just thought of is to contact Arena TV on Foxtel and ask them to please make sure we get to see Season 6 & 7.  Channel 9 are showing GG on Sunday afternoons at 4.00pm but they aren't doing a good job of it, we need to see it and to see it in a better time slot like Arena are currently showing Season 4 again (although I think we just commenced Season 5 last night).

Hope this helps!

Hey Mak,
Thanks for your note - I thought perhaps I was missing something, like the English language, to get my point across. Cheesy  I agree with you regarding the fast pace of this thread and trying to keep up with what is actually happening and how it is happening is getting very daunting.  Perhaps when Heidi gets back online she may be able to do "announcement" or "progress" posts specifically about each G8M project - I have read a couple of hundred posts about prettysticks, daisies, posters and flyers and of course the letter writing campaign & petition.  Maybe Heidi can set up a topic for each project are out there and who we can talk to about pledging our help.  It's just a thought I had after I posted my reply to Rob.  I liked the daisy idea, but have no idea what is actually happening with regards to that as it is lost somewhere in amongst the 458+ pages of this topic.

I too am very grateful to everyone who is working so hard on the G8M, and will continue my own little contribution in my part of the world.

@ aussiebear -- Yes the petitions are, to some extent honor based.  They're based on existing email account names -- it's quite possible that there are some repeats.  (I mean you, Wonny.  Tongue   I appreciate your enthusiasm, but please, don't sign again.  I will specifically white-out any and all lines that I think are hinky when I print it out.  Such as those that do a lot of counting.)  Petitions don't work in and of themselves, but they *do* support other projects that a given revival campaign might have in mind by providing a rough idea of the general scope of the interest.  We already know that in just these 4,000 signatures, we have 29 countries represented already and thus, in some ways, we've gotten the word out better to international sources than to national sources.  That's why we're doing the LDDC project, too, and other projects.

For instance, if you haven't written to anybody on The Contact Sheet in a while -- Lauren, Alexis, Dawn, etc., time to write again.  Send your letters by registered mail.  Lauren noted at the GoldDerby chat that she'd received input from a postcard project that some group had put together I think, before the cancellation had been announced.  So perhaps that could be done.

We're up a little to 150 or so signatures today.  That's great.  If we can do 200 tomorrow that'll be excellent.  Again, they've got to be *honest,* unique signatures and when you're spreading the word, please spread the word that they need to be honest, unique signatures with polite comments (no counting, noextendingasentenceoutlikethisforaslongasyoucanjustto extenditoutandmakeeverythinglonger, etc.)  But honestly, as the summer goes on and the news of the fall schedule spreads even more, I think more and more Gg fans that don't follow the news or don't go to the internet sites often will be catching onto the cancellation and that's why we've got to be there in August and September to be their place to go to.  On the off-chance that Lauren were to get nominated for an Emmy -- it'd help if Lauren were to be nominated for an Emmy, it would help a LOT, but we can't count on it  -- we could certainly capitalize on it for the campaign just by being here.  (I'd send out the next edition of the Press Release far sooner than I'm currently planning on doing so, for instance).  But I think we've still got time on our side in certain respects.

Season 8:  Because Kyle's parents had Hummells just sittin' there, waiting for Jess and Dean to destroy them in a fight.

Rob, you are starting to confuse me with your longwinded replies.  All I was doing was mentioning that I noticed that people are signing the petition more than once and that my signatures had not appeared on the petition so I was going to give up worrying about signing the petition and do what Frannie had asked and promote the petition on some of the Aussie sites that I know of.  I didn't mean for it to go into a lengthy discussion on the validity of petitions etc.  That was not my point, nor could I care less.

Please don't get me wrong, I sincerely appreciate everything everyone in the US and internationally are doing to get the Gilmore Girls Season 8 or a proper series finale with all the loose ends tied up.  Even I am trying to do my little bit here in Australia, but I am noticing that some of the replies to some GG Great8Mandate innocents such as myself are a little condescending.  I believe we are working toward the same end aren't we, to have the best show on television given the proper send off, no matter what that send off may be.  Please give us Mandate innocents a little credit for intelligence and for the work we are also trying to do to help this great cause!

There's a little bit of a delay sometimes -- DO NOT SIGN IT TWICE.  It probably won't even let you sign it twice either, since it only allows verifiable emails to sign and I would think that it wouldn't let the same email address sign twice.  Also, I've got to emphasize that you shouldn't sign it twice.  We need unique signatures or the credibility of the petition is weakened.  Petitions don't work on their own, but the more valid they are, the more they support everything else we'll be doing.

Season 8:  Because Rory has some undisclosed "thing" for Madeline Albright.

Hi Rob,
I used the same e-mail address both times, and both times it said that it had accepted it, but when I refreshed the page it wasn't there.  I didn't think there would be a problem with using hotmail addresses, perhaps there is.  I think I will just spread the word on the Aussie GG sites like I have been asked to by Frannie and not bother about being on the petition.

The other thing you may want to take into account is that people have signed the petition more than once.  There is one person who has signed it using a count to 100 in their comments who is on there a couple of times that I saw when I was looking for my own signature.  To be honest, I don't think you will be able to stop people signing it more than once because, you can ask them, but I think it may be a little late.

Is there a way to find if your signature has gone through??  I have signed the petition twice because I haven't been able to see if my name is on it.  Or doesn't it matter?

All these ideas are fabulous and I have enjoyed reading them, but I was wondering what I, an Aussie GG fan, can do other than write to the CW & Lauren & Alexis' management and sign petitions.  Is there anything that us overseas GG fans could do to help the cause??

Has anyone noticed that this item is no longer available on e-bay, it has been removed by e-bay.  Guess it wasn't his to sell or it was a scam...

I don't think, we can get a new season. I think Lauren is done with the show( because of her interview....) . She and Alexis will never return. But it's just my opinion. What do the others think???

I agree with you.  Although many posts say that Lauren's interview with Ellen was not her true feelings, I think they are wrong.  I watched that interview too and yes she is sad that it is ending, but I think she is also relieved because and this is not a criticism of David Rosenthal, when ASP left GG, the heart of the GG left too.  ASP created these characters and whilst DR was able to capture some of the magic and keep it going, I don't think that season 6/7 were as strong as some of the previous seasons.  They were great, but they weren't the magic and I think Loralei had lost some of her sharpness.  There was not the great long dialogues with the usual interactions between Rory and Lorelai or Lorelai and her parents had lost some of their spark.  Some may say I am wrong, but it is JMO.

I'm just going to say something-

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

And I am wearing bright colors today, I'm not mourning. I'm celebrating 7 years, and hundreds of hours!!, of Gilmore Greatness.

This is a wonderful way to look at it!!  Thanks for the bright thought in such a sad day!!  I for one am glad that Gilmore Girls came into my life and I am glad that I have the DVD's to be able to get my GG fix whenever I am feeling blue.  You're right Fantasy, we should be smiling because we are so lucky to have met these wonderful characters!!

Thanks for posting this great interview!!  I admire both Lauren and Alexis for their hard work.  It would not have been easy doing this show, but I am glad to hear that even though it was a long haul, they enjoyed their experience.  The GG is a delight and will go down in TV history as one of those shows that you can't help smiling about whenever you think about Lorelai and Rory or any of the characters of Stars Hollow.  Sometimes some of my mum's mannerisms remind me of Emily Gilmore (my mum grew up in that type of environment), but I am definitely no Lorelai Gilmore. Cheesy

Thanks again!!

No matter what show shes on, I'm still gonna think of her as Lorelai Gilmore.  Sad

I used to think that too when Jon Cryer started on Two & Half Men, the first couple of times, I thought yeah that's such a Ducky thing to do (Ducky = Pretty in Pink with Molly Ringwald) , but now I don't see that at all.  I guess we will all need to get used to seeing Lauren and Alexis in other roles and eventually we will grow to love their new characters.

Scott Paterson is the one who I think may have the easiest transition.  He has done a few other things that have been totally opposite to Luke; like the Will & Grace episode when he played the old school friend of Grace's John Gregorio who was into women's "souls" - that was definitely not something you would see Luke doing! Cheesy

I think Lauren is right when she talks about having time to grieve over the finish of the GG - it will take time and I know we will all need that time.

Thanks for posting this Javalova!!  I had asked a similar question about the workings of "blame" for want of a better way of putting it and this gives me a lot of clarity.

Much appreciated!!
