16  Gilmore Girls / General Discussion / Re: Fans over 30 on: July 08, 2015, 07:02:48 pm
I was never one of the youngins' here but I do dare think and feel like I am younger than 30. Most think I'm still in my 20s and usually are shocked when they find out my real age.  I guess it is a perk, to still be mistaken as a high school student.

True story, this year I was participating in a student all night lock-in sporting event to raise money for local foodshelfs.  On the way into the event at about 9:30 I commented to a staff member walking in (who didn't know me) that I tried to take a nap before coming but I couldn't sleep well. She responded saying, "I'm sure you'll be fine.  It's us old people they worry about." I smiled and brushed it off. As we were about to register, I then asked her where the staff team was meeting.  She was then confused and flustered when I introduced myself to her.  She then felt terrible, assuming I was a student, but I was thrilled I could still pass for one.  Grin

I think they can only catch up with me if I am a bully or if I actually show up at his house so I am all good! Might go get some private investigator license just to protect myself!

I believe it turned up with weary little, oh Queen
I've gotten better at cleaning.

Somehow I doubt you could scrub everything.  I admit i JUST MIGHT have to jump around and search too.

My brain went *ping*

I didn't really try to recall my password Cheesy I have the exact same now, as then, actually. I did think hard about my new alias, though. It became one I use already in different places. I consideret "Misty meadow song" too Smiley I'm a little sad i didn't. I also thought about making it all fan'ish, like "theGGman" or something
The Gman, that has a whole 'nother meaning.  Yet I have to admit, your new name sounds so zen.  I struggle with it fitting you.  You could have just went with Dirty!  Nah, I guess not.  My hubby always joked he'd like to be 'PopUpBookfromHell' ...
18  Gilmore Girls / General Discussion / Re: What other TV shows do GG fans watch? on: July 08, 2015, 06:53:16 pm
Going to help revive a bit B!

What have you watched since?!

I have watched the entire West Wing!  Such an amazing cast where the chemistry was down pact, so early for a show.  Very well written and I admit I enjoy political drama.  A friend of mine who is a huge West Wing & Friends fan, also loved parenthood.  I keep trying to get him to watch Gilmore Girls.  Not sure how I can get him to get past the 'girls' part and watch it.

I also watched all of HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother).  I am not a huge sitcom fan, but I do like Neil Patrick Harris, so it got me to give it a try.  I was captivated by the storyline to know who would really be THE one.  I would bet Janich would enjoy this one too ...

There is a dance show I watch on netflix was set in Austrailia too.  Oh I wish I could remember the title....

It is sad that Parenthood is now gone ...  I wonder what Lauren will be up to next.

From what I can remember from my quick IMDB glance, he isn't on the list.

I enjoyed the first season was good, but it fell apart from there. We'll see the previews have me curious though.

Smitten I love seeing these pics.  I saw you posted a few on Facebook and it's nice to see a whole collection here.  You look so thrilled.  What an amazing opportunity.  i'll never forget when I got to ride one at a circus, their geometric hair all over was such a surprise to me. Are their tusks their only teeth?  I'm curious what it felt like when the last one was taking a bite out of your arm.

I think it was Mel that made a request for my elephant pics and seeing that today is the one year anniversary of the day I visited these beautiful creatures I thought I would share (and revive an old thread at the same time!)

Last photo. She decided to suck on my arm at this point, cheeky thing!

So as you can see, this visit changed my world! One of the elephants has only three feet as she was caught in a poachers trap. I have since helped with fundraising for a new prosthesis for her. They guy who showed us around for the day is also working on opening another sanctuary at the moment. I cant wait to go back and visit them all again Smiley

A prosthetic for an elephant? AMAZING!  That can't be cheap!  Thanks for sharing.  [/color]

Haha! You know how to get the stories you want to hear don't you!

Have YOU ever been a debutant or similar Smiley

I am very good at asking questions. Though I think we should snark Janich for not answering, because now I'm really curious about him and the girls we found at them.

I have not been to or been part of anything debutantish...  I in fact have never been to prom or ridden in a limo for that matter.  (Well I think I have technically ride in a limo for a funeral, but not a stretched limo or anything like that for fun.)  I did make it to homecoming a couple of times. One was my first date ever, and while the guy was nice, we really had nothing in common. So lots of awkwardness and me nodding while he talked about cars.  I don't think we ever danced.  My senior homecoming was enchanting because I really really liked the guy I was with and we had so much fun... from dinner, to the dance and even hanging out the next day. It was a long distance deal, so we stayed over at a family from church and went to church with me the next day.  We all wore our homecoming gear and he took lots of fun pictures of me after it.

Okay, FYE ... been to a comedic roast?
22  Gilmore Girls / Fun and Games / Re: Have You Ever ... on: July 08, 2015, 11:01:46 am

Yes I have been in a limo a few times for graduations, debutante balls, weddings...I would like to go in a stretch hummer though! Be all Kanye and sh*t!

Debutante balls? I don't think I HAVE heard this story yet.

I remember being stung by a bee on my toe on my 16th birthday, yet that evening a good friend of mine and I went to celebrate at Chucky E. Cheese like we were 3!  It ended well.

I also remember a birthday when I was young and no one came.  I think we were planning to go mini-golfing and my mom and I just went. I think she did the best and it turned out okay, but I know my young self was very sad.

Since my birthday often falls on laboUr day, it's rare that I had to go to school on my birthday.  Where I live there is a rule that school can't start before this date, so when i turned 17 and was taking college classes during high school.  That year my birthday DID fall on laboUR day BUT the catholic college I was attending, HAD school on that day.  While I'm to much of a nerd and geek to not miss class, it was sure a bummer to attend class for the first time on my birthday.  But I did.

Have you ever been a debunante?

23  Gilmore Girls / General Discussion / Re: Off Topic Thread - Because a lot has happened! on: July 08, 2015, 10:51:37 am
Life is what you make it and I would rather be here for my skill and to have dignity to go with it.
Bam Pow So true!

While I don't technically 'work', on the boards I serve there are definite attitudes that drive me insane.  It always boils down to worrying about yourself and how you act,  and get your job done.  Many consider me younger than I am, and I always tend to dress up a little nicer and work extra hard to prove my worth.

As I mentioned before I love my colleagues. I just get a bit annoyed how gossipy they are. One of our team will leave the room and the other two will complain about her. i don't like being a part of that and I know that they probably talk about me behind my back too.

I have worked in jobs where I am surrounded by men and jobs where I am surrounded by women and I have to say, working with women is unpleasant. Before Janich jumps in with a comment on all the eye candy in a male dominated workplace, its not even that, it's about being able to have a joke or pick on each other without anyone getting precious about their feelings and it's also about the gossip factor. I 100% agree, if they will talk about someone else behind their back they will damn well do it to you too. I loved being one of the boys Smiley

I prefer working with men too. It shows by my degree in college, I was usually in a 70/30 ratio of men to women and as my classes got up the ratio of guys to girls got even higher.  I  have always felt more comfortable around men and even less competitive. I was the only girl of many boy cousins and I just loved hanging out with them when I could.  Unfortunately, distance made that tough and life has continued for us to grow apart.  I do miss those times when we were kids and we could just go fishing and enjoy the summer day.

Well, my current were house boss (or something to that effect) is a god damn kill-stealer when it comes to work effort. He got to were he is now by taking credit for other peoples work while trashing them when it's only him and the owner (one of them). When I started to call him out... I'm lucky the then current boss liked me Wink Tried and failed to slay me 3 times (those I know of) but is all nice now. I worked myself in a position where everyone of the higher uppers know well what I'm able to do, so he can't attack without severe backlash. But he's skilful at evil, so I have to keep an eye on the boy. I have weaved my own webs, though. Few people adore him now. He will slowly dig his own grave now that hardly anyone help him without making damn sure people know they did the work. I watch. If he improve, then he'll have my support. But I ain't gonna be cheated again.
Wow the imagery here ... have you considered writing? Wink :two cents:

So today a woman transferred from one team to another one. She moved to the team in the room next door to mine. She chose a desk that already belonged to someone. even when she was told this fact, she carried on with moving into that desk. She was told multiple times that she should check with the woman whose desk it was - she didn't care. She brought at least twenty plants with her, and loads..i mean loads of paintings and crafts her daughters had made. Her corner of the room looks like a crazy jungle. The others in that room were really annoyed. Basically she didn't care though and has already made herself unpopular on the first day. That was unwise.

edit: oh and she also brought in a clown her kids had crafted. it scared the hell out of one of the girls in the room
A clown?  A jungle?  I totally get bringing in a couple items your kids make, that can be heartfelt and nice .... but you can't let that clutter your whole office.

I better go fix lunch for my kids .....

Who knew, I thought it was only Angela residing in Janich's dreams...

I do remember I had a dream of Milo once!  shhhhhh ......  and i see the are rebooting heroes, I wonder if that would ever show up.

Oh why do you sound so shy?  I'm curious about your screen name and why you chose it?

Umm, hi...

Are they the mini frozen cream puffs? Sams Club sells them too and I agree with you, I adore them.  In fact, I prefer them frozen so the cream tastes a little like ice cream.

A website that I LOVE for recipes is   You can't go wrong using one of their recipes and I also LOVE their writing style.  I usually agree with most of what Sara and Kate write exactly.  In fact they are even Gilmore Girl fans. Please check it out, many of my favorites are there. I prefer to bake verses cook, and recently I made salted caramel rice krispy treats from their site.  YUM!  They were a bit hit with the graduating seniors here.

It is summer here and we sure do enjoy making smoothies. They are usually just random frozen fruit thrown in, but a favorite of mine is pineapple spinach (which some vanilla protein powder) and some oats!  YUM!!!

You need to try some essential oils. You could diffuse them or simply put a drop of Lavendar or peppermint under you nose. Then at least you won't have to endure it. Gee!
