Gilmore Girls, 03.25.01 ...
WHEN?: Thursdays, 8:00 p.m. EST, WB
WHO'S IN IT?: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrmann
WHAT'S THE BUZZ?: Wow! A show with a mother and daughter who actually speak to each other and yet don't make you throw up. What's the chance of that happening? The WB's "Gilmore Girls" manages to do just that -- and make you laugh.
Rory's (Bledel) mother, Lorelai (Graham), was rebellious during her teenage years, which resulted in her being a mother at age 16. Now her daughter Rory is 16, and this is causing Lorelai some stress. Lorelai is now 32, in case you didn't want to do the math, and she's part mom and part best friend to her teenage daughter.
Rory on the other hand, sometimes seems older and more mature than her mom. She's been accepted to an expensive private school, which costs more than the Gilmore girls can afford. In order to swing this payment, Mom has to go to her stuffy parents and ask them for a loan.
IS IT TAPABLE?: If you've even wondered what it would be like to have a mother with whom you could share anything, "Gilmore Girls" shows you the pros and cons. It's on opposite "Friends," so be prepared to set your VCR for one of them. Make sure you add "Gilmore Girls" to your must-see TV list!
