Carole King Guest Stars on Gilmore Girls, 05.01.02 ...

Legendary singer/songwriter and Grammy-award winner Carole King will guest-star on The WB's Gilmore Girls, Tuesday, May 7 (8/7c).

King will portray a New Yorker who moves to Stars Hollow and opens the town's first music store in the "Help Wanted" episode. It is at her store where Lane's life is changed when she sees a dazzling drum set.

No stranger to Gilmore Girls fans, King and her daughter Louise Goffin perform the show's theme song "Where You Lead." King's career began as a teenager in the late 1950s. At the age of just 17, she had her first number one hit, "Will You (Still) Love Me Tomorrow," co-written with her future husband Gerry Goffin and recorded by top "girl group" The Shirelles. James Taylor had a hit with King's anthem "You've Got a Friend." In 1971, King released solo album, "Tapestry," which earned her Grammy Awards in the "Best Record," "Best Song," "Best Album" and "Best Female Vocalist" categories. "Tapestry" held the title of the best-selling album by a woman for 25 years.

King's career includes writing the music for films like "A League of Their Own," "You've Got Mail," and "Murphy's Romance." Her acting experience includes roles in "Murphy's Romance" and on Broadway in the 1994 production of "Blood Brothers."
