Perry and Graham Allegedly Dating, 04.05.02 ...
Please note: The following article comes from Star Magazine, a tabloid newspaper.
Matthew Perry, fresh off a breakup with a longtime galpal, has a gorgeous new Gilmore-Girl friend.
The Friends star has been hitting the Hollywood scene with primetime rival Lauren Graham, who play Lorelai, the sexy single mom of a teenage daughter on the WB sitcom Gilmore Girls.
"Matthew and Lauren have been friends for years, and true love just recently blossomed," says a longtime pal or Perry.
Perry and Graham first met it 1995 when they both guest-starred on the sitcom Caroline in the City. But sources say the romance was jump-started by an investigation into whether Perry's ex-lover Andi O'Reilly had anything to do with a daring daytime burglary of half a million dollars in gold and jewelry.
Just weeks ago, Star exclusively revealed that cops were looking at budding actress O'Reilly, 31, as a possible suspect in a break-in at the Malibu home of her ex-fiance. No charges has been filed, and the case is still under investigation.
Soon after our exclusive report, she and Perry, 32, called it quits, say sources. "Soon after," says a pal, "he realized that his good buddy Lauren was this gorgeous creature that he wanted to be more than friends with."
By March 10, at the SAG Awards, Perry, who plays Chandler Bing on the hit NBC sitcom, was stuck like glue to pretty Graham, 35, says an eyewitness. "She was stunning in a sleek, black floor-length gown. Matthew gushed 'Doesn't she look beautiful?' to everyone there."
After the awards show, at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles, they went for a romantic dinner at Spago in swanky Beverly Hills. "They came out holding hands," says an eyewitness. "They left after midnight and zoomed off toward Perry's Beverly Hills home in his silver BMW sports car."
Only a week later, the couple was cheek to cheek again following the premiere of the Jodie Foster thriller 'Panic Room'. Hollywood's new hot couple headed for a lavish buffet dinner at the celeb hot spot The Century Club n Century City, Calif.
During the meal, Perry was leaning in and whispering sweet nothings in Graham's ear that made her blush like a schoolgirl. "He would nuzzle her neck, and reach for her hand to hold under the table. They were so cute together."
Pals say Graham is the best thing that could happen to Perry. "It was good to see Matthew looking so happy after all of the problems he's had in the last couple of years," a friend says.
On a professional front, the Friends star is on a roll, having upped his salary to $1 million per episode of the hit NBC sitcom next year.
But his personal life has been filled with ups and downs. He has had dramatic weight losses and gains and spent time in rehaps for his addiction to the painkiller Vicodin.
"Lauren is smart, sophisticated and funny," says a pal. "She's definitely a well-rounded person who has her feet on the ground." This time Matthew lucked out, and found a really great gal."
