It's Not Like You Think -- It's Better, 10.09.01 ...
Nothing is ever easy for "Gilmore Girls," the razor-sharp, absolutely engaging hour that was, hands down, last season's best new show -- but also the unfortunate owner of last season's worst time slot.
Last year, this kinetic, smart, genuine series aired at 8 p.m. Thursdays, competing against "Friends" and, in most of the country, a little number called "Survivor."
This season, WB moved "Gilmore Girls" to 8 p.m. Tuesdays -- it opens its season tonight on Channel 58. And though the competition is a bit lighter, it includes WB's former Tuesday mainstay, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," now airing on UPN (Channel 31), which appeals to precisely the same audience: people with functioning hearts and brains.
And then there are those other two hurdles for "Gilmore Girls": its name and its network.
