I'm watching this episode right now.. I'm at the scene when Rory is on her date and calls Lorelai for some help while the date is in the bathroom.  To be honest, after this episode I was weary about the mints in restaurants. lol @ urine mints.

I love Luke's advice to tell her that there is a draft.. aww this scene really makes Luke seem like a father figure in her life.  Like she called her mom and dad for some advice.

Doesn't it totally figure that Emily calls that night and Luke answers?  That always happens to Lorelai.. and then the questions never stop.

It sucks that Natalie cracked under Emily's pressure.  I'm not really surprised because she is, "The Cobra" but geez that sucks that Emily found out.  But Lorelai really needed to just chill out and let Natalie design for whoever she wanted to design for.

I was just watching that, and I love that scene! What was Rory thinking when she decided that would be a good anecdote to use on a date! LOL at her nervousness!

I just realized something about this episode--

Lorelai is shocked when she hears about "urine mints" from Rory.  (When people take mints out of the bowl, and some of them don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom)

But, In Keg! Max! in season 3,  Lorelai warns Rory not to eat chips out of a communal bowl, or else "She might as well stick her hand in a toilet."

So, Lorelai already knew in Season 3 about communal bowls and people not washing their hands after using the bathroom

Love the gardening bit! "Why don't you come over here and see, honey, since you seem so confused!"  Grin

And poor Rory and that awkward, awful date. Seeing it took me back to a few bad dates of my own. Watching those scenes is nearly squirm-worthy lol.

And of course -

Lorelai: When they showed the first motion picture years ago it featured a train rushing towards the camera. And people were so sure the train was going to burst off the screen and crush them that they ran away. Now Luke, the train is not going to leave the screen.

Luke: Hit the button!

Lor: Okay.

Urine mints is very funny.  I never think of Rory as being socially inept.  But I guess she really is.  Lorelai is right she doesn't have any "dating" experience, only "relationship" experience.

Luke falling asleep on the sofa "comfortable in the gut."  -- Its like living a time warp.  Even though I watch Season 7 in real time, I like to think that the whole end of Season 6 and beginning of Season 7 doesn't happen, because I really think that Luke and Lorelai are right for each other.  Can't wait to get to the end of Season 4, but I don't want to miss all the good stuff like  "urine mints" and "Luke the train will not pop out of the screen."   Cheesy

1. the whole thing is hilarious
2. there are some great luke/lorelai moments
3. rory's date is so awkward that it's funny

Im sorry, but lauren's wardrobe in this episode is just awesome.

The boots plaid skirt with the white blouse and red vest with the glasses is my favourite lorelai outfit ever.

And the shirt she was wearing for movie night was insanely awesome.

I HATE HATE HATE HATE the way Natalie talks. Ugh. It drives me INSANE. Her mouth opens like a mile wide.
Okay that's it.

I thought this was a really good episode.

Lorelei is at her funniest and Sookie does rock.  I loved the scenes Lorelei had with Luke as they're watching Casablanca (still need to see it) and Hardbodies (have seen it, it's pretty good).  Luke's advice to Rory on the date was good.

I was surprised to see Traci Lords (a notorious ex-porn star/cult actress of John Waters film) as Natalie.  She was pretty good.  Though what happened to her from Emily kinda sucked.

I think Rory was going through an awkward moment with her date with Trevor.  Ok, it didn't work out but dammit, the laundry guy rejected her and they liked the Smiths.  Paris and Janet having a war was hilarious.  Is there a deleted scene of those two racing?  Would've been a total Wes Anderson moment with some cool music.

Oh, I almost forgot... Lorelei's scene in her jeep listening to Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing" and dancing only to be interrupted by Emily.  Nice...

LORELAI: Sookie, my whole life, my whole existence, my essence, my being, my ability to be this sparkling creature standing here before you -- all of this depends on the complete and total separation of my life from my mother's life. That's how it works.

I feel for Lorelai in this speech because i've personally had similar feelings with certain members of my family. Lorelai can't function in her usual confident go-get-'em spirit with the thought of Emily in the air, even through the aura of a third person. I understand Sookie's point of view that she needs to overcome it. But Lorelai is forever haunted by Emily. I think it's more than simply trying to be independent from Emily; Lorelai allows herself to feel out of whack and off her game. She's in her 30s but can't shed feelings that have bothered her since childhood.

I don't usually care about the characters wardrobes but i don't like Lorelai's Charlie Brown sweater-vest with the zig-zag pattern. I am a big Charlie Brown fan but i don't want Lorelai taking him as a fashion cue. I don't even want to think of Lorelai and Charlie Brown in the same breath! She looks great in glasses however; i wish she wore them more!

i love when everyone calls luke's to get a hold of lorelai and then she does the dog bit with him.
oh and
lorelai: i'm going to have color coming out of my ying-yang
Rory: well maybe then you;ll finally get a man.
then you have lorelai in the car after rory was late for friday night dinner and emily comes and finds lorelai dancing
It was an overall great episode and how did emily find out sookie is pregnant?

i thought this episode was full of funny, memorable moments.
Lorelai dancing to Shadow Dancing in the car was absolutely hilarious, and her freaking out when Emily tapped on the window was pretty funny as well.
I kinda thought Lorelai firing Natalie was a little stupid, it's not like Natalie was going to keep Emily posted on the latest details of Lorelai's life...we all know how Lorelai's relationship with Emily is, I just think sometimes Lorelai takes the drama a little far and she even instigates some of the fighting sometimes. I guess I'm just so used to the fighting being Emily-initiated, it was just odd in this episode to see Lorelai on the constant defensive, causing even MORE friction between herself and Emily.
Lorelai: I'm going to have color coming out of my ying yang.
Rory:Well, maybe you'll finally get a man.
That moment was pretty priceless.
