Oh, Dean Dean Dean. That poor guy. He doesn't have a clue what he's supposed to be doing with his life. He's gotten into college and is currently a student, he's getting married, and he's still in love with Rory, as we can see from his drunken confessions to Luke. They say that a drunk man is an honest man, and I feel terrible that Dean is getting married to Lindsay before he's had time to get over Rory. It's not fair to Lindsay at all. I do think it was pretty cool of Luke to tell Rory not to go to the wedding. He's such a sweetheart, I hope when I get ready to settle down I can find myself a guy like Luke:) I might have to give Scott Patterson a call.

Salad Spinner? Lorelai could have come up with a MUCH better gift idea, she's one of the most creative people on the show. She owns a semi-pornographic monkey lamp...she could have done much better than a salad spinner.

She probably could have come up with a much better gift, but how enthusiastic is she supposed to get about her daughter's ex-boyfriend getting married? Following the story arcs she's had very little to do with him for two years and while they didn't part on bad terms, she's not going to the wedding, wasn't originally invited (she was only invited at the last minute because Rory was), and probably doesn't know Lindsay from a bar of soap.
I think the writers hit the nail on the head with a salad spinner. Who doesn't love a good tossed salad? (except for Lorelai of course)

You make a good point, I forget that Lorelai hasn't had much contact with Dean over the past two years. I also forget that she wasn't originally invited...I probably wouldn't make a huge effort to come up with an amazing wedding gift either had I received a last-minute obligation invite:)

No I still think he would have. His personality isn't conducive to high dramatics. An "I don't", the crowd gasps, followed by "Rory will you come away with me as I still love you, even though I've had very little to do with you for at least a year so this is slightly left field...." In front of the town, his parents, her parents, etc. I think Dean left it too late to back out. He might have realized it was wrong but he would have married Lindsay regardless.

I agree with Katie...Dean knows and sees what's going on here just as clearly as you and I do-he knows he's still in love with Rory. But the whole town is going to be at this wedding, and Dean has too much of a heart to humiliate Lindsay in front of everyone she loves...because in a way, if he were to start paying attention to his feelings for Rory, his situation would be very similar to Rory's with Jess while she was with Dean. I think Dean probably remembers that feeling, how Rory was starting to slowly push him aside for Jess, and Dean wouldn't want to make anyone else feel that way. At least for now.

I think if Rory went something wouldve happened and lindsay wouldve caught them in the act. Dean loses control of his emotions way to easily and i could totally see that happening.

In the third season's finale, Rory gave Dean a catalog with numerous kitchen supplies so that he could pick something and she would order it for him. So wouldn't she already have something to give him at his wedding?

Wowww, I totally forgot about that! Great observation...so yes, the salad spinner might have still been the gift, but they should have already ordered it and received it to give to Dean by the time the wedding day arrived.

Heh, an historic episode, the groundbreaking of the Dragonfly. I love the way Lorelai was begging Miss Patty to use her pull with Taylor, then discovering the whole ploy was Taylor's way of begging Lorelai to use her pull with Luke. Not to mention her realization that Taylor was right - in practice, not spirit - that the building was truly historical, and that rather than it becoming a part of her story, she was becoming a part of the inn's. Got me thinking about my relativity to GG.

I also loved the way Kirk was trying to protect Lorelai, and the parallel to Luke's protective feelings. I didn't quite get whether he was protecting Rory from getting involved with Dean again, or protecting Dean from believing Rory still had feelings for him, though. Probably the former, since he wanted to talk to Lorelai about it first.

I gotta say, Luke's rant about destiny and fate seemed a little hypocritic from FF-y town where we know he's particularly devoted to at least one astrological token.

Also historic was the news that Dave Rygalski is gone, and so begins the quest for Hep Alien's new guitarist. I loved Zach's rant about music and college, followed by Rory's encyclopedic spiel about musicians with college degrees. XD

Anyway, it's a good one, nice rewatchability. (It better have, I just got the DVDs...)

Dean's friends were T00LS, except for the Navy Dude.

Michel looks better with hair, lol at his co-worker calling Lorelai a hottie. Cheesy

Rory looked so sad in that last shot, oh well.

Dean made his bed, therefore he must lay in it with Lindsey.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Taylor really needs to GET LAID.
