Paris Geller/ Liza Weil Appreciation

I'm like most of the people here didn't like Paris at first . But when she appeared at Yale and HUGED  Rory i was like " what's wrong with this picture!! "  .she really became amazing. I loved that life coach of hers!!
I love the way she talks up , how she defends herself and never want to live with betrayal( when she threw Rory out of the apartment .. that was mean but she was being honest with herself ) .
Paris is a very strong person . She's the kind of girl who knows what she wants and does get what she wants .

Lorelai: There goes my little girl, off to rule the world!
Rory: Paris will be ruling the world, I will be holding the keys.

At Chilton, Paris rarely showed her vulnerable side (exceptions were her crush on Tristan & when she was rejected from Harvard).

I think it's because she never trusted people in her life not until Rory showed up . Even when she got her first boyfriend she was so secretive about it to her best friends back then . I think she was afraid of them teasing her . To think about it, she wasn't confident at that time .. when she went on her first date with Jamie she told Rory to hide so Jamie will have no one to compare her with.

 Although i think many will disagree - Paris & Rory are so much alike in more ways than one maybe that's why they can convince one another to do things they don't normally do . For example : Rory convinced Paris back in high school to agree on that shorter skirt issue that some girl brought up . And Paris made Rory go with her in spring break .

With Rory, she remained a rival and they pushed each other, but their friendship became genuine (although i always considered Lane to be Rory's best friend, even when their lives were moving in different directions).

I think Rory herself doesn't get their friendship in a clear term . When the whole editor thing began and the staff told her that they didn't tell her about their meeting because Paris said that they are best friends . Rory said with confusion : " we are not best friends .. we are friends for the most part " .

And I agree , I don't see anyone but Liza doing Paris part

I never thought in million years that i would write all those " positive " things about Paris . It's kinda scary!!

I agree that Paris was painfully aware that she was not popular with guys. This was her one weak spot at Chilton and she would only open up about it - even a little bit - with Rory. In the Bangles concert ep, when the four girls are studying together, Paris is sarcastically dismissive of any "boy talk". It's partly because she wants to focus on the school project, but underneath she knows there is not much for her to discuss about guys. 

I forget exactly when, but i know Paris admitted to Rory that Rory was the only one who really challenged her, who she considered close to an equal, academically speaking. I think if not for that, Paris would have brushed Rory aside like everyone else. Rory at Chilton was tough as nails under the surface and Paris saw that and respected it. The two of them had different ways of achieving the same things.

Rory did often seem perplexed over her friendship with Paris! I also think of the Chilton graduation when they admitted to each other that they didn't really like each other most of the time. But then they hugged, which i thought was a way of admitting that there was some kind of friendship going on. First time i saw that scene i thought "we'll never see Paris again"!

She's quite sensitive actually, and tries to feel better about herself and ignore her failures by acting brave and downright rude. She's such an intelligent girl and a great friend, once you get close. I think we can't forget that, even though she annoyed the heck out of people in the first Seasons.

So yes, I don't think she's that bad. And her dialogue - plain hilarious! Plus, she's had the most beautiful long hair in the first few seasons. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous!

You really nailed a great description of Paris. Funny how when the early eps originally aired she gnawed on my nerves. Now she is among my favorite characters. I think i might somewhat question her as a great friend, at least prior to the Yale years. She is a big believer in loyalty, and if you are disloyal, she will cut you down. And the problem is, her idea of disloyal, whether it is real or imagined.

I recently saw "Back in the Saddle" yet again. In the scene where they are picking a product, Richard starts peppering Paris with questions about her product idea, the first aid kit. Paris is sternly holding her ground as always. When Richard finally says he thinks it is a great idea, for just a moment, Paris says "really?" as though she can't believe that a business honcho would actually think that. In that moment, you see how unsure of herself she is under the surface. And great acting as always by Liza. And a moment later, she is back to being her usual self.

For all her insecurity, Paris is unquestionably an extremely intelligent, talented person, a real go-getter and someone who gets the job done! I can't imagine her being anything less than a smashing success in med school and beyond.

For me, I think because :  she had  lousy parents ( like all the rich people on the show ) . No real friends her all time growing up. I think Paris did take life in high school like Gran's rule: " life is a battle,  you enter it armed or surrendered " !

I just love Paris. She has some of the best lines for someone whose part was written in. The Puffs episode, where she goes on about a Disney movie and finding the beauty in herself, if one of my fave Paris episodes. I like the episode in season 7 (forget what its title is) where they are eating the guy cake, and she says, "It's pretty good once you get past the whole 'pornographic dessert' part."

I love Paris! She is my favorite character by far! If it wasn't for Paris, Rory wouldnt have had someone to compete against throughout Chilton. She was really funny and sometimes her mixed reality about some of the little things she totally freaks out about. Who couldnt love Paris!

You're defiantly right! She is an exceptionally amazing character! And she was the only one that competed with Rory. They are both so much alike even though they seem to be different. But personally i think Paris is tougher than Rory. I am pretty sure that if Logan's dad said to Paris that she didn't have "it", she wouldn't fall apart and she would make him feel so small! 
That gal has a great future ahead of her and to everyone who comes in her way: "watch out"!

I adore Paris....a lot. Her "craft corner" and Terrence was just so funny, and her taunting of Brad in Season 3 with "Into the Woods" is possibly my favorite Paris moments. I also loved in 3x16, when she talks about her sleeping with Jamie and how she's being punished for it by not being accepted to Harvard. So awesome.
