Yes but then you can just brag about all the sexy female-ness crawling over you because you love gilmore girls...and then get them to watch it because the very few guy friends of mine who actually watch it freaking love it because it's just so outrageously funny.
Hmm, I like your way of thinking. I was actually at a huge party a week ago and I somehow ended up talking to a bunch of girls about Gilmore Girls and if I wasn't some type of closet fan I would've never been able to keep up.
Aha! You see? If a guy liked gilmore girls and could keep up in a gilmoresque conversation I would be muchly impressed.
Well, I'll make sure to use that as a sort of
pick up line
. I'll
somehow
work in a mention of Gilmore Girls and if the girl watches it I'm set.

Hey Guys! Remember me?
I've been absent for awhile & the longer I stay away the harder it is to come back. I missed some very important b-days here, but around that time I was running on less sleep than normal and then I either got food poisoning or a 12-24 hour flu! Yucky!
Andrew is now 7 months +.
He is quite independent, but a momma's boy. He can sit up with and does so w/ a pillow behind him and plays. He'll dive after his toys and roll around. He's not crawling yet, but he can push himself backwards & pivot around the floor. He is quite the jabberbox, but no real words that correspond with anything significant.
Anyways, I try to sprinkle other info around a few other threads.
Oh & Steph, hope the old guy doesn't pull an Asher Fleming on you during a lecture!;)
Welcome back Mel, good to see you around again!
Wow, Andrew must be getting bigger.. You'll have to find time to make a new sig and show us new photos
We hope to see you around more often
Take Care

I'll look out for that. Maybe I should just walk around with a little badge type thing saying "I like Gilmore Girls and yes, I'm aware I'm a guy." or so.

Oh, I actually saw the end of McLeods the other day (the only ten minutes of it I have ever watched) and they blew one of the cousins up in a car! (sorry if I spoilt for anyone, lol) so now I dont know how many daughters, cousins, bastard nieces, step sisters, sisters in law or otherwise are left!
Winner of the most random post in recent history goes to ... me!
So, McLeod's Daughters, should I watch? I recently came across a show synopsis and thought it sounded interesting. Opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You see to us aussie folk this isn't a random post at all...in fact I have come across many McLeods episodes and have found myself asking "Who is She?" "How are they related?", "since when are country men hot???"...oh and "I thought they were like cousins and was going to be all why are they having sex...but they are just friends of friends, up from the city for a visit...ok".
Heidi, if you want to see some lovely Australian landscape, lots of horses, and acting ranging from not half bad to erm...meh then go right ahead
. Some people are really really into it, I've watched some and it is randomly addictive untill you miss half a season, come back and realise that it all seems pretty stupid.

You could get way more cruder if you wanted...but I dig the effort. Make the badge hehe.

Well, now that I've seen a couple of episodes I need someone to chat about them with! Has anyone here seen season one?
BTW, I certainly don't want to annoy anyone with McLeod's chat. I'd be happy to take my comments to the 'What other shows to GG fans watch' thread.

Eggsellence!!
Thank you.
This is a
McLeod's Daughters
spoiler warning in case anyone is thinking about watching the show. You've been warned!!

1. I'm trying really hard not to be spoiled, so please keep that in mind. Though, I do already know a few major things that happen in coming seasons and from what I've read online I get the impression that the show goes downhill as the seasons progress. Oh wells. I'm intrigued enough to continue watching for now. I must keep my spoiler free resolve high!
2. As Gilmore fans, I'm sure at one point or another we've all heard ... "That show is so girlie! There's no reason for guys to watch it." If Gilmore Girls is an 8 on the girlie scale, McLeod's Daughter's an 11. Just saying.
3. I have yet to figure out which McLeod daughter is to be paired with which Ryan son. They've made hints to this and that, but it seems really willy nilly. In one episode, I think Tess kissed Alex, but almost kissed Nick and later it was mentioned that Claire and Nick were supposed to get married (in theory) and then they had a moment together, etc. etc. I understand that it's early on in the show and no one's dating yet, but ... ya.
4. Living in the outback seems hardcore. People get raped. And shot. And a tractor falls on your leg. Then a snake bites you. No one can keep the gates closed and the cattle are roaming free. And you're constantly running out money. I couldn't do it. (Though, I secretly want to be a jillaroo.)
5. The characters are so up and down. One minute everyone gets along and good times are all around. Then the next second someone is brooding and storming off.
That's all I got. But, with all the said, I still like the show more than I don't. It's terribly cheesy in a fantastic kind of way. Like a soap opera set in the Australian outback. It's so bad it's good.
~Heidi
P.S. - I do have the say that all the actors involved in the show thus far have been A+. Skillz.

Haha well yes we Aussies have the acting thing down...you want good acting you comma down under.
It is very cheesy, it is like a soap opera (umm but better, because soap operas are 100% ridiculous, this is more like 80%). Of course they have to go through the emotional highs and lows about 50 times in one episode to keep it interesting (because then it would become like a real life situation where its just country folk herding cattle and getting stuck under tractors). The Australian outback is very very hard, that is actually true. And there are deadly snakes all around Australia, just more in the outback. And spiders too. But spiders are way too average, sure they are deadly but not as deadly as snakes.
The love triangles, squares and pentagons continue and then pan out and then go all prismesque again. You will learn to roll with the tide
.
PS I resent the whole gilmore girls is girly. The few guys who I know watch it love it, and its because they gave it a chance. They don't think it's girly...and I certainly don't because I hate girly shows, I think it is a cleverly put together dramedy reaking with great wordplays, pop culture references, good script writing and interesting characters. Ok I'm done. And yeah McLeods is horribly girly, this is true.

Word.
1. Thank you for indulging me in McLeod's chat. You're honestly the only person I have to chat about the show with.
I shall continue to post progress reports as I watch more episodes.
2. I totally agree about your Gilmore girlie thoughts. I think the only people who spout off about the show supposedly being girlie are people who haven't really watched the show to begin with.

Well I never thought my very little experience with a silly show (with good acting) would be of any help. Happy to indulge. Keep us posted, I'm sure there are others here whom would be equally as happy to chat.
Totally loving my week off uni...they gave it to us only three weeks in so I'm not under any extreme pressure to do any work and therefore have found myself walking around the house thinking of things to do such as eating my body weight in various foodstuffs (personal favourites include shapes and mi goreng), watching old school gilmore girls eps (season 2, now onto 3) and cleaning the house. And talking to Heidi about McLeods Daughters.

Can't say I've seen an episode myself but I just had to point out that I absolutely loved this little paragraph above. For some reason it made me laugh aloud.
Sadly you got into this show a little too late. Another long time ORG member in
Marlies
was a huge fan of the show. Sadly for you she is not around to chat with you about it at the moment though as she is spending her gap year in Australia and actually has spent some time on a property in the outback learning the life of a Jillaroo.
Also a big hello to
Mel
and
Mel
- long time no speak to both of you. Great to see you around and hope to catch you both online soon.
Steph
- Hey chick. Sounds like you are spending your week off Uni in a most efficient way. Feel free to stop by the VP thread/episode threads and make some comments. We are currently mid way through Season 2.
B
- Where oh where has our little

gone?

I should continue adding to the list as I keep watching and by the end of the show (I believe season 8 is the last, but it hasn't aired yet) I'll have this ridiculous list of 'hardcore things that happen in the outback'. Of course, they'll all be glorified for TV, but I bet it would really funny.
In Australia, do you interchange season and series? I was looking up an episode list (just an episode list, no spoilers, I swear!) and noticed that what I would call 'season 1' was often referred to as 'series 1' (season 2 was series 2, and so on).
Also, how many episodes are in a normal season for an Australian show? It looks like some of the later seasons have upwards of 32 episodes or so which seems like a lot. It makes for a hard time understanding which episodes go with which seasons because episode lists I've seen online aren't always the same as the DVD box sets.
That is all.
