I just think that the show better not end with Luke and Lorelai's "I do's"...They better get married way before the last episode.

I don't think they would make that the last episode. I think that while Luke will play a big part in the last episode, it will mainly be a Rory/Lorelai episode.

Although I wish Gilmore Girls would never end, we all know that it will have to. I just hope it ends good like Seinfeld. You know on a good note, not when they've burned out and get canceled or something.

So I think it should end soon after Rory graduates collage (if she does)

As far as going out on a good note- I think they will no matter when they go out. The fanbase will always be there (since most of us are addicted)- and the ratings don't mean that much right now, because the CW is not available in parts of the country. Still, Gilmore Girls gets higher ratings than it's counterpart Veronica Mars. We won't know if they'll stay until the spring.

I hate thinking of the show ending, but I fear that the end is near. I actually wish that most shows would last longer than they do by evolving with changes in the characters' lives. For example, on Friends, the show should have continued and included storylines around raising Rachel's and Monica's babies and become more like Full House. I think Rory should get marrried, have a baby, Lauren be a grandmother, and Lane's baby being friends with Lorelai's.

I think they could do it that way also. But, when you change a show too much you lose it's original concept. Although, the GG's have changed and evolved a lot in the last 6 years, and undoubtably will do so this year with Team Palladino gone. What most people don't realize though is that DR has been there for the duration of the show, and had written episodes before. After 6 seasons... changing it up a little to spice things up is a good thing. (and the Palladinos didn't make it an easy fix for Rosenthal!)

Anyways... on to my 2 cents for the last episode... I can see the last episode as Lorelai in the hospital having a baby (babies?), Luke freaking out because he's about to become a father with the woman he loves... but the last scene needs to involve Lorelai and Rory sitting together with the bab(y)-(ies) and recollecting their mother-daughter relationship and having a genuine Gilmore Girls moment.  Smiley

I want a satisfying ending. Nothing that leaves us wondering, nothing that is disappointing. Just an amazing last hurrah. I hope ASP can muster up the strength to do that. It's been so long since she's even tried...

(Ooh, bitter. Sorry. Just...I can't stand her right now.)

Yeah I do hope the show ends in A good way.
I will be so disappointed if Lorelai ends up with Chris.
It should end with her and Luke together but the chances of that are very slim!!
It would be better if it ended like it started Lorelai and Rory single and happy together.

Hey don't worry I'm just as bitter about it as you are..... She
Should have finished what she started!!! it's all about the$$$$$
She has the copyright to the show!! sheesh she created the show,All she had to do was

Move the show off WB and put it somewhere else not quit!!!

I am not happy with the show right now !  I may not watch it this week.

Why must the show end?  Huh Why can't TV executives ever just let it ride?  Keep the show going.  Yes, i suppose cast and crew want to move on - but you could replace some chars. if you kept the principles. Principals. whatever. DO SOME BETTER PROMOTIONS ON IT.

In my opinion, as a viewer, i think there is so much depth to Lorelai and Rory - PLUS, we have ALL of Rory's adult life to explore. I have been looking forward to all of that.  I disagree with execs that the show would run out of stuff - if that is what they say.  They brought back Seventh Heaven - right? Look at daytime soaps! They never go away, and let's face it, GG is way cooler and more intelligent than daytime.  Consider:

Rory's marriage
Rory's babies
Lorelai and Luke and their babies
Luke and April and how it blends in
The big new house they all eventually buy and fix up
Logan (or whomever she ends up with ) suffers major set-backs and Rory must cope as an adult
The Huntzburger clan - a constant source of material!
Paul Anka has kittens. Grin

Seriously, this show has legs for YEARS yet, if you ask me. They probalby think that the show ENDS with Lorelai finding her man.  Oh BARF! I just don't know what i will DO if it goes - i will wander around, mumbling to myself, dreaming of them, writing my own scripts and acting out all of the characters.  Cry Thank you for letting me vent.

I'm sorry to disagree.  I think we should all finally allow Lorelai to have her dream, her Chris, and her family.  She's always loved Chris, and she's wanted to be married for a long time...she just didn't think it would ever actually happen to her, much less with Chris; now that it has, we should allow her to have it.  IT'S BEEN A GOOD SEVEN YEARS.  People change, grow, grow up, etc., Why do we insist on wanting Lorelia to remain the same person we came to know 7 years ago?   Let her go...We allowed Rory..sweet, innocent Rory to grow up,change, and become a woman, why not Lorelai?
My guess is, that this is probably the last season, especially given the way the fans have reacted to change.
Hey, my girls and I are big fans too, have been watching it since the beginning, have all the dvd's,yet we can see it, why can't you all?

In other posts i have talked about waning - first wanting it FOREVER, then stepping back and seeing how that cannot be.  It is just that i will miss it.

There ARE reasons that shows go 7 or 8 seasons, as we all know - you can't keep the arc up in the air much longer - you have to explore entirely new territory - it could be hit or miss.  Attn. spans differ - i do understand sentiment below here - i CAN see the ending happening, yes of course.  After all, we can watch the DVDs if we want to relive it - MOVIES end BOOKS end Stories end - yes, there is something inside us that wants that.  Look at Seinfeld - WHY did that show go so long?  Becuase, it was a SHOW ABOUT NOTHING!  It was frozen in time, no changes, just goofy situational stuff.  No growth, no real conflict, yeah it is a comedy, but some comedies have CHANGES - not Seinfeld.  Gg is not Seinfeld, of course, so i guess i do agree it has to have an end.  Naturally i am just worried about crashing on Tues. nights for the first year. Cheesy  I can see the points of Carianna (cool name, btw whether given or screen name)

QUOTE - I CUT AND PASTED IT, PROBABLY GOOFED IT UP THO... BELOW IS EXCERPTS FROM CARIANNA - if this is annoying, tell me, i wil delete it - SORRY.

honestly, i don't want to know how the show will end
in fact i hope it never ends
(yes i know, a hopeless and selfish guesture, but hey, a girl can dream, right?)
the only thing i do want to know, is if chris and lorelai will get a divorce and she'll get back with luke
you know you all want it to happen, and with the whole luke vs chris in a fistfight thing, maybe it will actually happen sooner, rather than later
i did hear one time in a backstage thing that amy p. knows the last 2 lines of the series finalle
let's just hope that it still is somewhat in her hands to dicide

All the signs are there: characters on the verge of big transitions, new characters being introduced, story arcs being retired for good. I'm not sure if CW has any definite plans, but it seems like they are prepping for a new show or change in direction in case it does happen. Either that or they are just going to end the show, as per ASP's wishes that the show would end when Rory graduated. Regardless, ASP has already relinquished control and the fact that the show has still gone on this season successfully means it could easily be extended indefinitely. Obviously, this also depends on the willingness of the actors involved. They would all need to sign on.

This recent episode basically ends the Christopher/Luke situation for good and judging by fan response, it couldn't have happened sooner. That closes a significant chapter in the show because Chris has always been hanging around since the beginning as the only legitimate threat to Luke. Now that he's essentially past the point of return (and I don't think I'm being premature), there is really no obstacle between Lorelai and Luke except for possibly her parents.

The fact that April is now confirmed to be part of the show, but her mother being banished to New Mexico, leaves the door wide open for her to appear whenever the writers see fit. How convenient, she can just pop into Star's Hollow and they won't even need to call Sherilynn Fenn anymore. They'll just have Luke talk to "her" on the phone once in awhile. April is basically set up to be the new Rory because Rory's too old to be bright and precocious.

Rory is set to graduate this year and I still can't envision a scenario where she goes home to Star's Hollow to live. There's really nothing there for her and she hasn't really been a resident ever since she left for school. She's not going to grad school and she's not going to live with her grandparents (she already did that for a few months) so I don't see any place for her. So where will she end up? From what we've seen this season and last, Rory's future will not lie in the world of her grandparents (DAR, society, upper-class, Logan) and will not lie in Star's Hollow (small town, Dean) but in the artist/wrtier's world that Jess provided a hint of. The introduction of Olivia and Lucy confirms this. The academic achievement world is also fading from her sights, as Paris' heartfelt defense of Rory in the cafeteria almost seemed like a farewell. So does this list of all the things they need to do before they graduate - its the last hurrah for Rory and Paris, who have grown apart since their Chilton days.

This leaves Lorelai. She has clearly chosen Star's Hollow as her home (remember a few seasons ago they hinted that she might franchise her B&B in Europe) and will soon choose Luke as her man. Besides starting a new family I don't see any new adventures for her. When the show started, she was single, she had Rory, and she had her dream to start her own B&B. She's accomplished her business aspirations, guided Rory to adulthood, and now it's time to settle down. It's not like she's going to be back on the dating scene after all that's happened to her. She's in her late 30s and there's no time to fool around anymore.

So after all of this it seems clear either they're setting up the show for an end or shaking it up for a new start. The big question if they go on is, how will the show function if one of the two titular characters is not there? Meaning, can the show survive with Rory and Lorelai apart? Well, inevitably the show has initiate change to move on. 7 seasons is a long time, and most shows cannot last that long while still staying fresh. I don't know, I can see both scenarios happening. CW certainly doesn't want to lose one of their big shows, but are the actors all going to stay on board? Will the show lose some magic if its basically about Luke and Lorelai as a married couple? Is a show just featuring Rory and her friends in say, NYC, economically feasible? And will they let Marty redeem himself or will I have to change my once cool screenname?

There maybe a thread already like this (sorry to the people who might of done it already). So if need be join this and the other one.

I was thinking about what I truly wanna see out of this show before it ends. While I doubt we will see the Luke and Lorelai wedding (darn it..) there are somethings I persoanlly would like to have happen.

First of all I would like Emily to finally say to her daughter that she is proud of her and she is sorry for her behavior all those years ago. I want them to make peace.

Secondly I would love to see Mr. Kim!! I know thats a long shot but still crossing my fingers anyways.

Thirdly I would love to see what will become of our girls. Maybe a scene of them in the future..but I guess we will just all have to make it up on our own.

Like many of you, I am deeply saddened by the upcoming Series finale.  And, I appologize if this has already been mentioned, but after reading many, many different forums (hoping for closure) it struck me!  I know Amy Sherman-Palladino had a plan for "Gilmore Girls," and for whatever speculated reasons....network, money, contracts, ect...we all know she left last year and even though they had another year without her, her visions haven't and never will never come full circle....especially now with the Series Finale being announced.  But.....what if she wrote her visions down and published books to keep her dream alive??  I think we all have seen and analyzed the series enough we can envision the brilliant actors/actresses through her words, and then we can have our Gilmore Girls back, and get the closure we feel we need.  I know it would never be the same as watching the cast who made the characters come to life, but as we know, the cast will not be able to finish the job now, and I for one would settle for the next best thing....novels!  What do you think?  Any way to put that idea out to the Palladinos?Huh
