Oooooh Kelverstone. WHACK with the pretty stick to you! Your sweet, kind words made my day. I consider myself hugged. Lol. Carianna and Kiddo welcome! I'm Lori and I'm 42. Gross123987 welcome to the over 30 thread. It'll be nice to have a guys perspective on GG.( If all the estrogen doesn't scare you away.) We have some very intelligent Gilmore Girl insights here as well as discuss how therapeutic GG is in our lives. It's much cheaper than therapy! Lol! So you're a combination of Dean and Luke? Hmmmmm.
Michelle- If I write a book on my experiences it will be very touching, very inspirational and very funny. I would hope someone would read it! Maybe I'll include this little annecdote....
I was taking my daughter Ariel out on a pass on Sunday to the movies and we totally had another Gilmore moment. I cherish what little time we get to spend and I'm trying very hard to have fun and build a good relationship with her. We were getting our movie snacks (no popcorn with a gallon of butter this time) and I cringed as Ariel decided to get a big bag of malted milk balls. I said, "You are so going to ping off the walls if you eat this." "I'll share it with you so I won't eat it all," she calmly replied. As we waited for the movie to begin Ariel decided it would be fun to fling malted milk balls into the air and catch them in her mouth. Yeah right! She nearly put out an eye several times and Whoppers were flying everywhere but into her mouth. Ariel laughed when I told her that someone was going to slip on one of those balls and get a concussion! I thought what a funny word- balls. We would bust up laughing every time I said balls in reference to the malted milk balls. It wasn't dirty. It was just silly."You'd better stop throwing those balls in the air before one clocks someone in the head and we get kicked out of here," I giggled,"besides, you're wasting them and I want some too!" it was just some sweet fun between mom and teen and a moment I could see happening between Lorelai and Rory. Although I have a feeling it would be LORELAI throwing "balls" in the air and RORY commenting about clocking someone in the head! Lol!
Ok, maybe I should start writing that book now. I may not have a lot of posts but it's not quantity it's quality I'm after. Everyone have a great day as we wait in joyful anticipation of season 7 of GG. Be happy and be healthy!

Michelle,
The more I watch the reruns of GG I get so upset at Emily and Richard. They act as if Lorelai is a nobody, but I agree that at the end of Driving Miss Gilmore, it seems that maybe Emily is slowly coming around with her daughter. It is about time. Who do you think Rory should end up with. I have mixed feeling about all of them, but I have come around to Logan being with Rory, and I really want Luke and Lorelai to end up together, they are a perfect fit for each other, just get rid of April. I do not like her character at all. GG rocks.

Wow, there are a lot of us 30 somethings, huh? Welcome
to all the recent members! I have been posting here for only a short time, and everyone is so nice! As I was typing "30 something", it reminded me of that show that was on so long ago! Back then, I thought every seemed so mature and so much older....certainly not like I feel at 37! Funny how age is so relative!
I agree with you kiddo, Emily and Richard do treat Lorelai like she is still that 16 year old kid. The weird thing is, she seems to revert back to that 16 year old when she is with them! Here she is, a single mom, raised her daughter all by herself, bought her own home, bought and runs a successful Inn, and it seems like when she is with her parents she doesn't portray the strong woman that she is. It seems like she is so upset that after everything she has done, they still think she is a failure or something. I think thats why it was so nice to see Emily actually make such a nice gesture in offering to buy Luke and Lorelai a house in Stars Hollow because she had accepted that this was where Lorelai was happy, and that she was accepting of Luke too.
I don't know if they need to get rid of April, I just think that Luke just needed to learn to invite April into his life with Lorelai & Rory, instead of trying to keep them apart. Luke was always good to Rory, so I'm sure if Luke had done things different with April, Lorelai would have been there for her the same way. She seemed to bond with her at the birthday party. If Anna hadn't have stepped in, it might have actually been a nice way for the two of them to start getting to know each other.

Is it possible for an entire family to have arrested development? I mean, if their last name isn't Bluth? I think that's what Lorelai's interaction with her family is. They never had a chance to go through her late teens and they relive that. Emily is getting better (the house was one of the sweetest gestures she's ever made towards Lorelai) but I still have issues with Richard, but maybe the show is saying that Lorelai's teens and how she would have coped with being in regular contact with Richard and Emily during that time isn't something that they can skip. They have to go through it before they can relate to each other as adults. It's just happening late.

This is a great observation. Kids and parents grow up together, and the late teen and college years are the ones in which they begin to relate to each other as adults. Lorelai and her parents never went thru this time. Lorelai left home and was estranged from them and then suddenly reentered their lives as an adult and single mom with a child of her own. Thus Richard and Emily's most recent images and memories of her are as an irresponsible, knocked-up, rebellious teenager, and sometimes they treat her as if this is still her emotional and psychological age.
I'm trying really hard to be sophisticated and nod my head, but I have no idea who
Bluth
is.

Hello Michelle, You maybe right about not getting rid of April, I was just mad at that whole storyline. Luke has been very selfish with April, which seems a little out of character for him, and Lorelai does turn to a teenage aroung her folks, but thats how she deals with them. Bot the closer it gets to the premiere of GG this season, the more excited I get. I tell you this is one addiction that I don't want intervention for. GG rocks.

I agree that Emily and Richard treat Lorelai as if she were a teenager because that's where their relationship went seriously wrong. It's as if they all became stuck in the past and emotionally can't move forward from that time. Lorelai certainly reverts back to her adolesence when she is around her parents, especially her mother. They need to heal their old emotional wounds in order to forgive, move on and treat each other as adults. I think Emily and Richard getting the house was a major step for them and that's why it was so extremely moving when Lorelai told Emily there wasn't going to be a wedding and actually broke down in front of her mother. She knew that house buying was a big deal and a step toward her parents finally accepting Luke. And when Emily actually put her hand on her daughter's shoulder in a gesture of comfort I almost fell on the floor! In the Gilmore house that gesture was as huge as if Emily had taken Lorelai in her arms and held her while she cried! She is not a demonstrative person and Lorelai knows that. That's probably why she went to cry on Sookie's shoulder afterward. I hope this is the beginning of the healing that Emily and Lorelai so desperately need. I also think Emily is envious of Lorelai and Rory's relationship because she never had that with her daughter. I think this is going to be a major time for growth in the characters and their relationships. They may take separate journeys for a while but I believe that Luke and Lorelai will be together again. Everything happens for a reason I say.
Can't wait for season 7! Have a great day everyone.

*beaming with pride* wow our little thread has really exploded
On the subject of Lorelai and her relationship with her parents - we have had this conversation when this thread first opened and it pretty much went the same as it is now. I think we all agreed that their relationship was kind of suspended in time and that really they just picked up where they left off, maturity level and all
. But I have to say nobody quite says it like our Dani

Right now Dani just picture me as Lorelai walking beside you down the street as she did with Rory in whatever episode it was that Jess and Dean got into that fight (hmmm sorry I really am a fan but I have no idea of the title of that ep and I can't be bothered leaving this post to look it up) singing "Did you ever know that you're my hero".
I am finding lately that every time I read one of your posts Dani, that I want to say something really intelligent like...."Yeah, what she said"
. Think of all the fun I will have reading your posts when I finally get to see Season 6

Caryn!
Where are you my friend!? I hope all is well. Did I just read shocking news about you in the Aussie thread!
Come over to the dark side! You'll have to fill me in on the details of your decision.
Hey there gorgeous girl. I'm here but life is just really stressful with all these sickies inmy family at the moment. I read your PM and I have to say I was so close to reading my first spoiler and then I read your idea and it kind of made sense. So I am going to try and hold out until I view the dvd's which are only (I'm throwing in this word trying to convince myself) a couple of weeks away and hope that the wonder of Season 6 curbs my need to spoil. Then I will decide on whether or not to renounce my spreeness for Season 7 after that. I tell you, I really love my country and we are a very lucky lot with our sheltered society here, but unfortunately it also means we are sooo out of the loop in some instances as well - Catch 22
To everybody else that is enjoying this thread - keep up the great posts, if nothing else they are keeping me very entertained
Oh and btw Monica - yes your little thread has blossomed into the beauty that you see before you. You should be proud and I thank you from the bottom of my heart hun
Edit: OOooops I also did want to mention Lori that I loved the "Balls" story. I didn't think you could top the buttered pop corn one but you did - I laughed aloud. And you are right I could totally picture Lor and Ror having this moment

Hello, Sorry I never watched Arrested Development, and since I am new to this forum and thread I was unaware that this topic has been discussed. On that note, who else is looking forward to Season 6 on DVD. I love that there are no commercials. Have a great weekend. GG rocks!

Hello to all of my friends on the over-30 thread!
As usual, tons of good discussion -- I wish I could respond to everything but, sadly, I have to leave in a minute.
I'll try to come back later, when I do I'll try to have a new gg topic for discussion (I love coming up with those
)
SO - honk if you're happy Caryn's back:
HONK HONK!
My thoughts are with you as you deal with family illnesses. I give you credit my friend. Hang in there and come here whenever you need to blow off some steam! Oh, and rumor has it that the Australian flag has become the new symbol for the org . . . hmmm, wonder who's responsible?!
Be back later, y'all!

It's funny how animals demand attention huh?? My dog is always knocking my hand off the mouse with her nose!! She has made me click on things I didn't want to click on, and actually hit the enter button with her nose! It took me a minute to realize what was going on!! Or she'll hit the 0000000 or something while I am trying to IM! Animals are funny. They are great company! My dog is right under my feet as I type! I remember someone (was it you Lori??) posting that their bird loves the Gilmore Girls intro song!!
Well I can't wait until the Season Premiere next week! I hope they will show the Season Finale again though. I am excited even more this year because when I started posting here, it was after Season 6 had ended. I am looking forward to chatting with everyone on this thread about the new episodes!
