How old is your other son, Caryn?  I remember you saying that one of their names was Jackson.  I love that he has a GG name, although I think you also wrote you didn't know about our "gg Jackson" at the time.

Yep that is right Jackson is 5 and a half and Ethan is two and a half.  Jackson I think will be the more studious one -he has a thirst for knowledge on everything - and I mean everything!!!  Can get quite tiresome but alas that is my job on this earth  Cheesy.  Ethan also has a love of the stuff I mentioned earlier (I guess that is the environment we create) but will be more of the performer type.  He loves to entertain and has an hilarious sense of humour already.  For instance just earlier today he came into the kitchen with a muffled voice saying 'mum, look at me, look at me'.  I turn around to see him standing there with nearly all the parts of his mister potato head inserted in the correct place on his own face.  He had the hat on, the glasses on, the big cheesy smile hanging out his mouth and the ears protruding from his ears. He then procedes to do a dance singing I'm Mr Potato head over and over....as you can imagine I pissed myself laughing then ran to get the camera.  This is an almost every day occurence for him, there is always something Smiley

That is such a cute story! Cheesy  I can just picture the little Mr. Potato Head hat on his head.  It sounds like you have your hands full, in a good way.  How lucky Ethan and Jackson are to grow up in such a great environment.  I love that we're on at the same time (although I hope that anyone else who wants to join in the convo will jump in!).  I read your post about going through org withdrawal while it was down and I can relate!   I have been so exhausted working in my classroom because it has been very hot and muggy and we have no a/c at our school Tongue.  So, to destress I really wanted to go on the org.  I was so sad it was down that I messaged Angela (through another site we're friends on) and she, of course, had the lowdown!  I felt better after that because I knew it would be back soon.

Yes the hat was cute, but the funniest bit was seeing these little ears protruding from his own.  And yep my hands are full, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  And I'm lucky enough that this is what I love to do most in life.  I think when I finish getting them ready to go off to school in a few years, i will head back myself and get the qualifications to become a teacher - it is alwasy what I have wanted to do (other than be a mum) and motherhood and proven that is my passion.  I'm very fortunate that my hubby and I were on the same page about not being a working mother whilst the kids are young and also that this is a philosophy that we can financially afford to stand by.

The Org downtime was a killer wasn't it!!!  I dont get too often that I have a whole chuck of time to lay here without having to get up in between each post and perform some other household or motherly task (as I'm doing now) - so I was completely devastated that a higher being had determined that horrible fate Sad.  Oh, and stop bragging about the heat  - we are still in the middle of winter (actually just near the end) and it is bloody freezing and I am soooo not a winter chick - I WANT MY SUN BACK!!!!!!!! Hey, you want to be a teacher and I want to be a mother!  We should switch roles for a day and see how it goes. Wink  Sorry about it being winter there!  I, too, am definitely a summer chick.  It's just that this week I've been unpacking 40+ boxes and hanging up bulletin boards and a whole myriad of other goofy things that stress me out.
I absolutely adore teaching and the working with kids part, but this time of year just before they come isn't quite as fun.  It is also total sucko right after they leave in June.

In January, you will be enjoying soooo much sunshine while I am buried in a pile of snow! Wink

Yeah but snow is pretty - very magical.  I wouldn't want it all the time but we have to travel hours to get to the snow here, so I'll be jealous of that also Michelle.  There is just no pleasing me, believe me, my hubby will tell you in a flash Wink

And yeah I would love to trade places for a day, except that I serious have withdrawl symptoms if I dont have my boys with me (the poor things are probably feeling very smothered), so we'd just have to make it a schools hours thing (unless we wait til they are a little older, then I will cut the apron strings Cheesy)

Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to have kids of my own.Wink  Also, there's that whole half a world apart thing that would make the switch a little difficult as well. Cheesy

Hmmm, where I live it snows quite a bit -- I live in Michigan.  I'm actually in southern Michigan, so I don't have half as much as those in the northern part.  They get dumped on.  I do like the snow and think it's pretty.  My main complaint is driving in it, though, because it can be very icy and treacherous.  I have become more enamored of snow since GG due to Lorelai's love for it.  "Love, War, and Snow" is a beautiful epi.

So, is it warm, sunny, and perfect out for you during Christmastime?  While that sounds fabulous to me, it is hard to wrap my brain around Christmas with no snow. Huh

Hi everyone! I'm back! I couldn't get on the org  for a few days and I didn't go online yesterday at all so I'm playing catch up. I have another funny story for ya! I just realized that my parakeet, Tweety, is a Gilmore fan too! I've noticed that EVERY time Gilmore Girls comes on she starts to dance around in her cage and chirps like crazy during the theme song!!! Well, she's either a GG fan or REALLY likes Carole King songs! Although she likes Sam Phillips' LaLas too! At first I thought she was just a goofy bird but when she began singing EVERY TIME "Where You Lead I will Follow" started up I just fell on the floor! She jumps around her cage like she was on caffeine and dances on her perch. It's histerical! Any one else have any furry of feathered Gilmore Girl fans in their home??  Grin

Lori:  I can just imagine your little bird bopping up and down to the music - some animals are so intelligent Cheesy  Our animals (2 rabbits) are outside so no we don't have any, unless you count my kids, who when dirty after playing outside, can appear a bit furry Grin

Michelle: Yep most Christmas' are full of sunshine and it is great for the social getherings, however the last couple of years we have had pretty bad weather.

Also I just got notification on the approx delivery date of my season 6 dvd's and it look like somewhere around the first to second week of October Cry.  talk about torture!!

Poor Caryn!  All I have to say is:  that is total sucko. Undecided  I give you major credit for being so patient -- pretty stick for you!  Can't wait to hear your take on all the epis.  I would be going crazy!  I always buy my GG dvds at Target, because I absolutely love that place and can spend $50 each trip there without blinking an eye.

Lori, you're parakeet story is so cute.  Your bird has infinitely good taste! Smiley I love parakeets -- I had two growing up:  Emerald and Amarillo.  Your story made me think of the episode "That Damn Donna Reed" when Luke and Lorelai were looking for Stella.  I love that scene.

Well, I'm pretty excited because this weekend the females in my family are celebrating Labor Day by going on a "girls only" shopping trip to Chicago.  It will be my two sisters-in-law, my mom, my sister-in-law's sister (if that makes any sense Huh), and myself.  My friend Jen from high school will also meet up with us for lunch since she lives there.  School has been extremely busy and I've been exhausted, so it'll be good to relax and get away.  Chicago feels like home to my family because both of my parents are originally from there and my oldest brother and his wife currently reside there.  I probably know my way around it better than Detroit, which is where I live.  I am so ready for retail therapy! Cheesy

Yeah I know - I'm a regular super hero.  Nah, don't laugh, I mean that seriously Wink  Do you know how hard and strong I have to be not to spoil the fun of seeing the actual episode without having read up on it first.  I honestly have magical super powers beyond the realm of possibilities Grin

So Michelle - I'm confused did you alread have your lunchin Chicago or is that this weekend? (Damn time differences have me all confused as to when you posted Huh Embarrassed)

So who has a gilmore related topic to discuss - I need some good reading?

Hey, superhero Caryn! Smiley  No, I haven't gone to Chicago yet.  It is currently almost 8pm Wednesday evening here.  I leave Friday afternoon!  It can't come soon enough -- this week has been a plethora of beginning-of-the-year staff meetings that make my head hurt.  I have just realized that many of my posts here relate to shopping (mall story, etc.).  Hmmm, now I know why my savings account is dwindling  -- insight! Cheesy

Okay, possible new GG topic to discuss:  Lorelai and Christopher's history

I'm not sure why, but suddenly I'm fascinated by Lorelai and Christopher.  Don't get me wrong, I am definitely still a java junkie and hope that she and Luke marry.  I think he's the right person for her.  However, after watching some old epis and anticipating season 7 (don't worry, Caryn, there will be no spoiling here!  I'll be extremely vague), I'm a little confused.

In season 2 (Red Light on the Wedding Night), she calls Chris from her bachelorette party.  Also in that episode, Luke builds her a chuppah and discusses his view on marriage with her (which seems to make her think).  Which of these two events trumps the other in making her cancel her engagement to Max?

In season 3 (It Should've Been Lorelai), she admits to Chris that she has sort of been waiting around for him.  In the season 6 finale, (total vagueness in deference to those who haven't seen it) she contradicts that statement.

Finally, my big question, exactly what happened when 16-year-old Lorelai did not choose to marry Chris?  Did he go to California right away?  There are vague references to him visiting (at Hartford) here and there as Rory grows up, but nothing concrete.  I guess what I want to know is:  did her not marrying him break his heart?  Or was he relieved?  Exactly how has he felt about the mother of his child all of these years (pre-season 1)?

A little Gilmore Girls discussion...

I touched on the topic on another thread a little while ago, but thought maybe I would mention it here in the over 30 discussion to see what everyone thought. Especially with some of us being parents, as well as single parents. However, I am not sure if I should bring it up if it is about Anna because I don't want to ruin anything for people who haven't seen Season 6 yet!!  Huh  Should I keep those posts in the other thread?

Wmushell, your girls shopping trip sounds like fun!  I hope you gals have a great time!  My sister, and a few friends plan a girls weekend away and go to a spa for the weekend every October!  My brother in law goes mountain climbing with the boys, so my sister said, well then we are doing a girls weekend too!  We all live in New England so we've hit Maine, NH, Boston, Mystic and Newport RI!  We have a blast!  We have been doing i for the past 5 years or so.  I hope we can continue it for a long time!

I love the parakeet story, Lori!   I have two dogs, but they haven't done anything special when the Gilmore Girls come on!  Poor things are getting old so they really don't hear too well though  Sad  They just hang out w my son and I when we have Gilmore Girls marathons, thats it!

Good question!  I'm never quite sure what to do about season 6 references either.  I feel awful giving anything away to those who haven't seen it Sad.  Yet, a lot of the events I want to reference when talking about a topic occur during season 6.  What to do? Huh  Hey, what thread did you post it on?  Maybe I'll look at it there and respond. Smiley  That might be a solution.

I posted it a while ago.  I just had to look it up. It was on Aug 10th in the Episode Discussion / Season 6 / Re: 6.22 - Partings/Season Finale.  I think I just went on a little rant, but thought the last part about Anna might be a good discussion for this thread.

Discuss. Smiley

First, I think subconsciously, she had already decided to break off the engagement to Max before she called Christopher.  But, I think when she was about to do something that could get her criticized for being flighty, Christopher was the person she'd call, because she felt he wouldn't judge or lecture.

Season 6 finale?  Lies!  All lies!

Last question is hard, since it's all speculation.  I'd say maybe something in between heartbroken and relieved.  I don't think a 16 year old Christopher was independent enough to strike out on his own.  Although I don't know when he left, and we know he didn't go to college.  Or, at least, we know he didn't go to Princeton.  So, what pushed him to leave and not go along with the family plans, I don't know.

As for Lorelai, I think part of Christopher will always love her as well.  Also, I think he's worn his heart on his sleeve for her much more than the other way around.
