I agree. I think shows need to go out on their own terms, not just because they have to cuz the ratings have dropped. I do NOT want GG to end up one of those shows that overstays their welcome, I want it to be one of those that you always wish had gone on a bit longer

I think that if the writers can come up with an amazing and appropriote way to end the show, then they should do it and not push more seasons. If the show has a perfect, set ending- then they should end it there, where it should end. otherwise i think it will just be a prolonged, boring show.

I would love for there to be a season 8. I would find it ironic however if it was picked up because thats why ASP and DP left, they wouldn't gaurentee season 8, ok it was at least on of the reasons. So I think it would be interesting if they ended up with season 8 without the Palladinos. As far as the storyline goes, I like what DR is doing with what he has to work with so I'm excited for the rest of this season, and I just hope it keeps getting better! As I said, I would love another season, but then again I was one of the people who didn't think 10 was enough for Friends so you might want to factor that in! Smiley

a season 8 would be great (hehe i made a rhyme) but i can't see it going past that. there's not many more plots to explore without the . show becoming redundant and drawn out. if it ends this year i will be terribly sad but 7 years is a longgg time. there are so many shows that don't even make it to this point. i will always hope for more seasons of GG but i don't want it to lose its charm in the process. i also want an 8th season so my collection of dvds is even lol.

I think the chances of an eighth season is slim but it could happen. 7th heaven had a long run and GG is way better than 7th. I really hope they do though!

I sum how can't see the showing getting to the point where Rory has a baby! I think it has a great structure at the moment. It works! They should keep up the good work Cheesy

They could use season 8 as the start of Rory's dream career as a foregin corraspondant. The whole 7 seasons have been centred arround Rory getting the best education she could to get the career she has always dreamed, and Lor busting a gut to make it happen. Her life has always come second to Rory's and season 8 could be Rory starting to repay that. I think if she does have a baby it would mean the show had failed.

I can't believe that in the long period of time since I last checked this site NO-ONE has posted an anti-season 8 thread.

Let me go on record as stating that I am more than happy to bid my favorite show adieu.

Especially if that means that "Girls" becomes the singular "Girl" due to the loss of the sensible Alexis.

Especially if that means another year of what amounts to fanfiction writing by DR and his team.

If we could get ASP and Dan back, I would fly to the MOON to generate awareness for a season eight. Since that's impossible, I will not be supporting something I will not be watching. I'll be watching The Return of Jezabelle James instead.

Anyone with me?

Well considering you also noticed the lack of an Anti 8 thread I would have to say no, noone is with you.

I must admit I didnt enjoy Season 6 as much as the previous seasons and I am yet to see any of Season 7.

I dont know if you ever saw the show 'The Pretender' but when they canned the show there were mass fan complaints and they gave the writers three movie length episodes to complete the show...IT WAS ABSOLUTE CRAP. You cant rush to end a show and from what I hear there isnt enough time before the end of Season 7 to tie up the loose ends.
The most frustrating thing with a show is when there are unanswered questions and noone to complete the picture for you.

You also have to consider that GG fans - who have been referred to as 'hardcore' and 'die hard' fans will take whatever they can get even if the quality isnt what it was, because none of us want to say goodbye to Stars Hollow. The fact that we come to a fan forum on a regular basis just proves how much the show has affected us, so what if we cant let go, everyone needs a hobby.

I do appreciate your input though so I hope you can appreciate mine. Enjoy Jezzabelle James - whatever that is!

Um, would seeing the first episode on its first airing and every episode since then for seven years count as "hardcore" and "diehard" enough for you? I think I qualify.

And I am unwilling to show support for another season of what I view a long slow painful death of my favorite show. If this were my relative, I would have called Kevorkian on its behalf months ago.

And trust me: no matter how many more seasons CW gives us, none of them will be enough to get the show back on track and tie it up with a big pretty bow because ASP will not be the one doing the wrapping.

I didn't see this - I already aired my opinion in the Unpopular Opinions thread, but here it is, anyway:

I'm on the fence. I'd watch, and devour it like a rabid monkey washing it down with shopping sprees for product-placed items, but that, in and of itself, is not a good enough reason to continue.

My point was, it's been a wonderful 150 hours that explored amazing social concepts, dominated the market for America's sweethearts, and taught us a contemporary language based on pop metaphors. It successfully wedded Star Trek to Doris Day. Gilmore Girls has become an institution for us, but it's a thing which must be created, and to create it, certain conditions must be met.

DR may not be ASP, but I'm not afraid. Whatever else he's got, he's got ideas for where to take the show. We have the vision and the cash, but we don't have everyone on board. I would love to see more, even without Alexis Bledel in every episode, but Lauren Graham won't go on without her, so that scenario is moot. (For the time being.) Can we all agree that at least one of them would have to be there?

Let's not get into "convincing" Alexis of anything. I mean, she's an incredible star, and she's got "big screen" written all over her. I don't think GG is holding her back, or anything, but who doesn't want to just break out and see how high she can jump when she's at the top of her game? If it's a mistake, it's definitely not one she "owes it to us" not to make. Besides, if she waits until we stop caring to leave, she could be RORY: forever! (I know, but not everything is about us.)

Rumors are that she's not the only holdout, either. Maybe actually facing the possibility of leaving GG has opened a few people up to their own potential, too. Or maybe it's a bunch of sour grapes, or maybe it's neither, but it's not up to me to tell the "crazy Hollywood people" how to do their jobs.

Life goes on, and nothing on TV is ever really gone for good. To quote Star Trek (And that dude, whatsisname, Shakespeare) "All Good Things..." All the parts of GG will still be out there, going on in new forms, the actors and dressers making other people, the stagers creating other places, and the writers building other lives. And the producers gathering other people's money. If it's not this year, it will be some year, but like all good things that come to an end, sometimes they come back.

Pretty stick for you Grin I totally agree!

I just don't get it. If you don't like the show, stop watching and stop going on fanbases making it your mission to keep us from getting another season! If you don't wanna watch, fine then, be that way but don't try to keep us from watching/enjoying watching and fighting for the show. Its discouraging to see people like you cutting down our efforts when we work so hard! I think S6 and 7 were both amazing seasons, I think the later seasons were better but I still loved S6 and 7 even if my 3 fave relationships (Lorelai and Rory, Lorelai and Luke and Rory and Martys) took some beatings! I actually like both S6 and 7 more then 3! It won't hurt you to know that there is another season on air, it will hurt us to find out that there isn't. If you don't wanna watch it then don't, having a Season 8 won't force you to watch what you call "crap" but us fans that want another season will be forced not to watch if we don't get Season 8!
