I think when it comes to love, all her boyfriends really loved and cared about her; Max, Chris, Jason and Luke. Although from all these great guys, i think Jason maybe took the biggest step because she was the only girl he ever opened his heart to, remember the "talking key"?! Even though he is NOT my perfect choice but she should have given him a chance.

Even after 7 seasons i still think Max was the right one. He was perfect! Very romantic as she is and a smart guy with a forgiving kind of nature. Hard to find a guy like that!

Well, Luke had an edge: He was part of her life for 10 years before he made his move. XD

I love Max, he was the most willing and obsessed of all her boyfriends besides Christopher. If that were enough to make a marriage work, it would have been a pretty short series!

The writers did a good job of being sure that relationships with men were Lorelai's big flaw. She was a great mom and successful in her business but with men she was a mess. The hopeful ending with Luke in "Bon Voyage" is nothing more than hope. They would only have a chance if they learned from their mistakes in season 6 and communicated openly and often with each other. They showed signs in "Hay Bale Maze" when they apologized to each other but saying it and doing it are different things.

Well, my dad always told me that love was "a state of being in which someone else's happiness is intrinsic to your own."

Luke's 'I just like to see you happy' in 7.22 held a ring of finality for me, especially when compared to all the 'I'm happy when I'm with you' crap she'd gotten up to that point. Plus, the big revelation of her "I screwed up" apology was that breaking up with him and marrying someone with all the moves hadn't made her happy.

Well, I thought there were a lot of details that added up to Luke being her last lover, no marriage necessary. Just... maybe a little therapy.

I like your dad's words of wisdom. If he knows how  to make it happen, please feel free to share. I'll take notes.  Smiley

I agree that Luke and Lorelai don't need marriage to be happy. Knowing Lorelai's history with marriage proposals and engagements and her one actual marriage, and Luke's own issues with the concept, it might not be the way to go (although i loved the java junkie wedding). Maybe they can live together forever like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

MY OPION IS LUKE. lORELAI SEEMED SO HAPPY WITH HIM AND SHE DID NOTHING BUT CRY WHEN THEY BROKE UP. THEY ARE A MATCH MADE IN HEVAN.
