Gilmore Girls and France

Hey everyone!
I'm french, I live in France, but I manage to watch the new episodes of GG when they come on the american tv. I was juste wondering: I know GG was on a french channel for years, but why is it no longer, as it has a great success in USA?
But first of all, are there any french people over here? I've found no topic concerning the french version of GG (although there are some for german, italian, spanish versions)...
(Excuse my bad english
)

Humm, is there a way to do accents on threads like this?

Mela489! S'il y a un moyen de faire transparaître l'accent français par écrit, je ne l'ai pas encore trouvé...
Combien de personnes parlent français sur le forum, en fait? Pourraient-ils se manifester? Même si ce n'est qu'un français approximatif (d'ailleurs, ton français est très bon apparemment, mela489
)!

Salut! Je ne parlais pas français bien 'at all', excusez-moi si je fais a trop gross erreur. Mon français prenom est Marianne.
Je sais que il y a une manière de ecrir l'accent français 'in an english keyboard', mais je ne me rapelle comme il est. J'ustilisse un 'keyboard' en espagnol.
I have to use some english words and sentences when I'm talking in french, sorry about that. Mela, there's a
translator
that might be helpful. I recommend to use it only for words, like a diccionary, because when you translate full sentences they may not make any sense at all (I've seen the results translating from spannish to english).

Ah, marci Marian! J'utilise cette 'websight' pour ma classe de Francais.
Raf2411, marci pour ton compliment sur mon Français, mais comme nous parlons tu vais voir que il n'est pas bon. J'ai l'accents en Word, mais ici il 'doesn't work'.

Ahh, mais 'at least' tu ai (or should I say "t'ai"?) une bonne excuse pour 'the lack of accent marks in your writting'.

(Just ask if you'd like me to translate some word or expression I use
)

Hey
Raf2411
,
I'm a French GG fan. I first found out about the show when I lived in Canada - five years ago, when the first season was airing. I tried to watch a couple of episodes on French TV when I went back to France, and to be honest, I can't say I'm surprised they cancelled it. Doubling is usually bad enough, but what they did on Gilmore girls was
really
bad. The translation seemed hasty at best, and the dialogues didn't fare very well in French, or so it seemed to me. That's one big part of the show, so it might be one of the reasons why it didn't work out well. Plus all the references to pop American culture that may be hard to catch for foreigners.
If you ask me, you're much better of watching the original version of the show
As for French fans, we used to have a rather active French thread on the old forum, with links to French fan websites. I'm sure you can find those if you look around. However, we're a nice bunch here at the org, and we like diversity! Welcome!

I've been in other forums online, Gilmore Girls and Friends. And my previous experience says that french people tend to open their own fansites in french. I've seen many french fansites, much more than any other countries'.
And yes, all Dubbings are awful. Here we have GG with subtitles. Still, there are many references to american culture that we don't understand.
