Yay! I'm kinda a newbie and everybody seems to be from the US, I'm glad I found a canadian thread. I started watching GG last year on the box sets and finished the 7th season on the W channel at 4:00.

I am from montreal,Quebec.I just watch GG in english though because its too painful to watch in french.I like it better when its the real actors voices not some very weird french voice who doesn't even fit the actor.

Have you ever seen the same episodes in English and in French? I always wondered how the translation of the jokes worked.

One of the DVDs had an extra about translating the pop culture references to other languages and how it didn't always make sense or wasn't as funny because some of Amy Palladino-Sherman's jokes were very specifically American references.

yes i did and the meaning of the jokes are very different from english to french .sometimes they don't even mean the same thing thats why hilarious show like friends are a pain to watch in french,Some jokes simply can't be translate in french.in the Gilmore girls case the reasons why I hate watching it in french is mainly because of the voices, I love to hear the original voices in everything I watch that why even though my main language in french I will watch movies or tv shows in english.plus if I watch GG in english and lorelai say something funny I will laugh my ass of but in french there's a good chance that I won't even get it because translations sucks lol.
