Agree with you on this, Imy (hi, btw ). Yeah that's one of the reasons why Jess character is so interesting. What he says, sometimes has underlying layers. Like, when he fixed Luke's toasters. He wouldn't admit it, though we know exactly it was him. So I think deep down he cares and appreciates what Luke does for him. He just wouldn't admit it. He messed up, and deep down he felt guilty, frustrated, but again he wouldn't admit it. And it was easier to spat that frustration towards someone else... Poor Luke. Jess was a jerk in that scene, but I agree it has underlying things to it. When I watch it, I feel like he was saying "Leave me alone. Stop trying to help me, cause you can't, I'm a lost cause. I messed up." more the 'I's than it was more about Luke. Like he knew he had disappointed Luke and if Luke wasn't trying to help in the first place, he wouldn't get disappointed... I don't know how to explain it, but... Does that make sense? lol

Talking about fanfics... I'm pretty new to Literati, so any recommendations? I feel like reading... What's your fave Lit fanfics?

oh my gosh I totally agree! I wish I could think of something deep and meaningful to say about Jess and his inner-self but I'm all out of deep and meaningful!!

well you could try fanfiction.net for fanfics. I have an account on there but my stories aren't so good! my name on there is TrueLiterati but I've abondend (sp?!) fanfic now and stopped writing and reading because my obsession was getting to far!!!

I have been gone and I missed this lovely thread in all its craziness.  It looks like everyone's been OT, but then again this thread usually is just one off topic subject from another. 

And I agree too silhouette, but I think Jess just doesn't like admitting the fact that he actually cares what his uncle does.  It might show that he was attatched or something and appriciated what Luke did for him.

Heya Grace it's just the last page that's been OT me and Emily had some catching up to do lol!! previously we've actually been on-topic which is strange because we're never on topic anyway ...

Jess is definitly very passive when it comes to anything except rory because with Rory he is always active and always tried to do as much as he could to make her see how he felt and to try and make her express how she feels which I think he pretty much did.

oh my gosh I'm watching this Heroes unmasked thingy on youtube which I missed because I was on holiday and it's all about Milo!! hehe when they started to talk about him they played 'sexy back' by JT in the background it was hilariously true!! Save the Cheerleader Save the World!!

and yeah Jess I think has been hurt too much by his parents and probably in NY too because it can get kinda rough there and so he doesn't want to be hurt again so he doesn't open up because he's learnt that when he opens up he becomes vulnerable and he doesn't want to get hurt again. I read a really great fanfic ages ago I don't remember what it was but it was going through Jess' thoughts and it said something like 'Jess learnt not to open up when he was 4 and he told his mom he loved her and she just shrugged him off. now he knows not to make himself vulnerable again' or summin like that I think it was less over the top than that but you get the picture I hope!!
