Mira - yeah, I'd never have the courage...way to go Noga!  Smiley

Amber - You mean malaria? I think it's common in Africa, especially in the regions where the people are poor, and there is no clean water and stuff like that. But I don't think she had that. Something like that. She got it from a mosquito bite.

Yes, here every girl&boy are going to the army when they're 18, it's duty. I'll be 18 on January, so after i'll graduate highschool i am going to the army.

You are brave and i admire you and all the people your age in Israel. We had a military draft in the U.S. until the 1970s during the Vietnam war but the draft was as unpopular as that war and it was discontinued. Since then, our military is voluntary.

When i was in high school in New York, our Social Studies/History teacher one day brought in a woman who was in the Israeli army to speak to the class. She was in her 20s. I was so impressed by her confidence. There was not the slightest doubt of her belief in Israel's military and their capabilities. It was not phony patriotic stuff. I could see her belief was genuine and deeply ingrained. We were all very impressed.

I am paying attention to the instructions on language but i will stick with my native English! It's hard enough. Smiley

I'll pretend I live in Israel!

Amber, you're leaving your home in Silly Kooky Town?   Cheesy

lol, Jim, I agree that English is hard! For our English class, we have to know all the rules to get an A, and I don't even need them, come on, I know when to use which Present...lol. And those state verbs...ah, I'll never memorize that.

People say Croatian is hard because it's a "rough" language  Grin, I mean,  it has like long words that have only one vowel or so.

How does Hebrew sound? I mean, I've heard it on TV, and on The Prince of Egypt  Grin but that's like half a minute. Is is also rough or is it more soft?

Growing up, we were always told that English is one of the most difficult languages to learn. I think one reason is that for every rule there seems to be a hundred exceptions. I'm glad it's my native language and i admire all of you peeps who have done so well learning it as a second language.

Noga is far more qualified to answer about Hebrew but in my opinion it is between rough and soft. I mean, it's not rough the way German sounds rough to me, but it's also not pretty sounding like French or Italian. That's why i put it in between.
