It's weird because when you first hear about her in season2 I thought that she sounded like a flake and someone who just gave up with the blink of an eye, someone who was self centered and never thought about how their actions would affect others but then when you meet her in season4 I couldn't help but like her. She is so loveable and soooooo funny! She's so crazy but I guess that's what is so great about her. And I think that it explains a lot about Luke's hermit tendencies when you think about luke and liz growing up together!! on a more serious note she was also the only one that could fully explain the luke and lorelai situation in season7 with the wormholes and stuff.
