Question: How much of a real man do you think Luke is?
He's a god in a flannel shirt.
He's a good, strong man.
He could be more manly.
He badly needs assertiveness lessons.
He's a completely spineless wimp.

I'm stealing the idea from Sooks, so I hope she doesn't mind. Wink
DISCUSSION STARTER
What made you first fall in love with Luke and why?  What is your favorite thing that Luke has done for Lorelai over the course of their friendship and relationship, or heck, even lack thereof as is currenly being shown this season?  And finally, how would you like to see Luke propose to Lorelai, either at the end of this season or into next (assuming we have one)?

The thing that made me first fall in love with Luke is the care and concern that he has for Lorelai and for Rory.  You can tell that Luke would do anything in the world for either of these two, more so than the rest of the town.  They care, and they mean something to him.  He was always there for them.  No matter what.  Rory's graduation, Lorelai's money problems, taking Lorelai to the hospital and a thousand more.

My favorite thing that Luke did for Lorelai:  Just being there.  I think my favorite example of this is one that rarely gets mentioned.  Back in season 5 when they'd broken up for the first time.  Lorelai called him crying because she was so lonely and miserable and all she needed was her best friend.  And despite the fact that they were broken up, Luke immediately came running.  He didn't care that they were broken up, or that she had pushed him; but he came running.  He broke into her house and came to make sure she was okay.  And had Lorelai actually stayed there, and not ran to get his answering machine tape, he would've sat there, and held her while she cried.

How I want to see Luke propose?  Something very romantic.  And as long as he gets down on one knee and tells her he loves her, I think I would be okay with it.  I'd like it to be just the two of them somewhere.  Something that will make Lorelai (and all of us) melt into a puddle on the floor.

Luke is just stinking hunky!!! I really really loved when he bought Lorelai's basket and then even knew what was in it *2 slim jims and a couple of stale poptarts* and then they even have a mini date out on the Gazebo!! I love it!! I'm not sure how I would like him to propose. I think I'd really like him to just come to her house, her not expecting it at all, and tell her how much he loves her and how horrible it's been without her and that he wants her to marry him!! AHH!!

Hi, I'm inviting myself here. I love Luke/Scott so I'm sure you guys will welcome another crazy fangirl.  Tongue

@ Danielle: When Luke rushed over after they had broken up in season 5 broke my heart. And it just cemented for me how he feels about her.

I first fell in love with Luke when he had a little birthday breakfast for Rory when she turned 16. That was so sweet.

My favorite thing Luke has done for Lorelai was building the Chuppah. It has so many details, it must have taken him a long time to make it.

I'd love to see him propose at the Dragonfly. It's where they had their first kiss. And it could be really romantic. Just the two of them in front of the fireplace with lots and lots of flowers and candles. And a really sweet love song playing in the background. Gah, I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about it.  Cheesy

Yensid-

We're more than happy to have you around.  We could always use the Scott/Luke love.  He's just...wow.  No words.  Smiley

And it's true, what you said when he came running.  I was so happy that he came running, despite the fact that they were broken up.  My other favorite example is actually from this season.  Despite the fact that she shattered his heart by sleeping with, and then marrying the one man he truly hates, when Richard was in the hospital, he came running.  Didn't matter that she was married, he just wanted to be there for her.

And I agree about the chuppah.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  And I like your way of proposing.  It would be cute.  I like the Dragonfly idea.  I think it would be very fitting, and frankly, as long as they get married under that chuppah, it would be great.

I can't understand why he came running? He'd said just recently that he couldn't be in the relationship because it was too hard, yet he comes running when she's crying! And he should have stayed and they could have made up then. It was just strange! I loved that he came running over tho Smitten

Another thing that kinda strange is when they're on their way to that town meeting where everyone knows, he says "i hate town meetings and i never want to come to them, just because you like doesn't mean that i will ever like him or go to them." Yet in previous seasons he was ALWAYS at town meetings!

Murf-

I think the reason he did come running is because he could tell Lorelai was in trouble.  And if you watch his face when Lorelai says "I heard you when you said you were out.  I did.  I just want you to know this is the last crazy thing you'll have to endure from me." speech, and when she turns to walk in the house, his face.  He knew she was miserable, and he loved her that much.  He's always been there for her, no matter the circumstance, or what their relationship status was.  I think he could have made up with her then, but I think in his own mind, it was Lorelai who conveyed the message "I don't want to get back together."  That wasn't what she meant, but that's probably what he inferred from her tone of voice, etc.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. And that's probably why he's so grumpy in the next few episodes! Cause I was thinking "come on, if you're so grumpy go and make up with her" but I guess if he thought it was over on her side then it kinda makes sense

Good point. I could tell he really wanted to patch things up, but he probably thought Lorelai was trying to get over him. So instead he proceeded to be grumpy.

I love it when he shows up at her house and just kisses her!  Smitten

Murf:

I've always wondered about the town meetings too. He never seemed to hate them or dreaded going. But once he hooked up with Lorelai everybody was so surprised to see him there. I guess that's one of those little details you're not supposed to notice. I always notice them.   Cheesy

I first fell in love with Luke when I saw that he was just always there for Lorelai and Rory in the good times and the bad.

I think my favorite thing that he did for Lorelai was he made up that plan for getting Rory back into Yale.  It just showed how much he really cared for both of them and how he wanted everything to work out.  I would have proposed too if I had been in her shoes.  It was just so sweet. Smiley

If there is a season 8, I would like the proposal to take place at the Dragonfly.  It seems right since the first one took place at Luke's with Lorelai proposing that the second one should be at her workplace with him proposing.  I would like Luke to do it in the doorway where they kissed the first time and he would have to get down on one knee.  It would be so romantic!   Smiley
