Jason isn't my most favorite pairing of Lorelai's boyfriends (that would be Max) but I think they had some things in common.  They had the same type of humor and wisecracks.  Like when Lorelai went to confront him about Emily's dinner party, he matched her wisecrack for wisecrack.  He also was willing to have a date outside a supermarket, instead of the date he had planned.

As for suing Richard, lets not forget that before that, Richard did everything he could to make sure Jason couldn't work at all.

I'm with you on the Max thing! I love Luke and I loved seeing Luke and Lorelai get together but I still loved Max and Lorelai as a couple more. They were great, and when they pulled the "I don't love him" storyline out, it didn't seem to fit for me.

As usual, when push comes to shove, Lorelai is a loyal Gilmore. Not that i can imagine her doing otherwise. How could she be with the man who is suing her father? Lorelai pleaded with Jason not to sue her father, but she did not come up with a viable alternative for him. Jason was right in taking that course. He said he had explored other possibilities to deal with it, but saw no other options. His entire career was at stake, thanks to his father and Richard. Not that he is entirely guiltless, because his main interest in working with Richard seemed to be sticking it to his father. No matter how cruddy a person his father was, that's hardly a good premise to start a business. Richard felt he had to do what he had to do to protect himself and his family. But he never seemed to understand his mistake in starting the venture to begin with. Apparently his tunnel vision was too much even for Emily.

agreed, jason did the right thing by suing richard. business wise, richard's move may have been the best route for HIMSELF, but it was ethically unacceptable for him to go into business with floyd and leave jason with absolutely nothing. lorelai was also right in breaking things off. i've mentioned this before in another post, but i wasn't believing that jason/lorelai relationship anyway...the entire time the show had them together i was thinking "he's GOT to be gay." i just didn't see him as lorelai's type of man...the other men she dates on the show are much more masculine and not at all metrosexual like jason is. it just wasn't a good pairing.

I don't think there was ever a question about Jason's masculinity or a suggestion that he was gay. He had OCD issues but that was about all. I don't think Lorelai was generally attracted to a manly-man type. Luke was something of that type, but neither Christopher or Max fit that type and she had great chemistry with both of them. With Jason, i never considered him to be a serious boyfriend, despite the fact that they were together several months. I felt like their relationship was designed to create a new line of conflict between Lorelai and Emily/Richard as much as give Lorelai an in-between boyfriend.

Off that subject, I think that the Lorelai/Kirk dialog was too funny.  The character of Kirk is just too funny and brilliantly played.

i always crack up to. With the whole "Do you have any lucielle balls?" And kirk says "yes, i have balls" and luke kinda looks up like "WHAT did he just say?" It had me cracking up  Grin

Anyway, i just rewatched this episode and i really like that when push comes to shove, lorelai sides with her family, even though she rarely gets along with them. She was probably still pretty shook up that her parents were seperated anyway. It just goes to show that nothing goes deeper than family bonds

This was another great one.  Better than the last one.  I loved Lane's storyline about the new girl in Mrs. Kim's life.  Poor Lane, feeling lonely during the celebration of Hep Alien's big gig.  Going to her home and kissing her mother in the forehead was sweet.

Rory getting an A but wondering why she got it.  That was a good storyline.

Jason screwed himself big time.  It was bad enough he tried to "work his magic" into getting deals and such.  Yet, now he's out of the picture and then, tries to sue Richard.  He ends up losing Lorelei, who is a Gilmore and a loyal one.

I'm very sad about Richard and Emily just seperating.  I guess Digger and the appearance of Pennilynn Lott really crumbled the marriage and poor Lorelei and Rory having to watch it unfold.  The dinner was awkward only until Emily left the house with her laundry.  Sad.

I don't think it's silly at all for Lorelai to break up with Jason.  Um, excuse me but no way would I date someone who is suing my FATHER.  Also I was thinking that Richard's immature decisions about revenge and such leaves no questions as to where Lorelai learned some of her immature behavior.

I just watched this episode again last night, it's crazy how you find yourself on the edge of your seat just as much now as you did the first time you watched it. I still agree with the posts I made back in December (above). I think Richard royally screwed up and Jason's countersuing him was just the best thing he could do for his career at this point...he really had no choice. I still agree that Lorelai did the right thing by breaking up with Jason, as well. It was just time for that, I didn't see the relationship going much further.

I wonder if Carol knew beforehand what Floyd was planning to do at dinner that night. She made that whole speech to Emily as they left the dinner table about not letting business come between the two of them anymore, and then when Floyd, Jason, and Richard came out of Richard's study yelling back and forth, Carol calmly got up and said she should go get her purse, then she just left. I just thought that was a little weird.

never liked Jason, but Richard truly did him dirty.

Really felt bad for Lane, she had nobody there to see her play.

Plus P0D-Lane has replaced her at home.
