For Lorelai: Luke or Chris. It's really 50/50. It all comes down to in the hypothetical season 8, what the writers would do. I loved Chris and Lor in season 2 and 6 but their relationship changed so much in season 7 and Chris just seemed like an entirely different person, Lorelai as well. So it's hard to figure out who I like best with season 7 messing up my thoughts.

Rory:Jess(season 6 had to prove that they belong together to anyone with doubts!)

Lane:Dave(for all the reasons stated by violaplayer!)

Sookie:Jackson(...duh)

Emily:Richard(...duh)

Liz:TJ/Kirk:Lulu(just too sweet to forget)

Lorelai and Luke are made for each other. Everybody likes them because we saw how there friendship grew and grew. Also Lorelai seemed the happiest with Luke. Christopher did not seem like Lorelais type even though she married him she also told him after they got married that she still has feelings for Luke and she does not love him. Max was just a friend i think, they seemed to act more then friends but i saw them as just friends and Lorelai started to. Then there was that one guy in her class that everybody made fun of because of his age. I hated Jason she looked less happiest  with him and he was her dads partner if you ask me Lorelai just dated him to make her parents go crazy. So out of all the men in Lorelais life Luke is my most favorite.

Same here. Just because we saw him in one episode acting like what a normal person should be doesn't mean that he really has changed. So what if he managed to behave in a few scenes!

Well, I did think Jess had grown a lot (and I didn't put the toxic nature of their relationship strictly on his shoulders).  And, I enjoyed him in both his episodes.  For me, season 6 - particularly The Real Paul Anka showed me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Rory was not in love with Jess anymore.  She still has fond feelings, and if she didn't have those pheromones they could shift their relationship to being friends, but she's not in love with him.  She kissed him because of Logan, she stopped because of Logan, and even after acknowledging that it wasn't fair to Jess, she didn't say that she realized she really wanted to be with him.  She didn't say she'd move to Philadelphia, or that she'd go back and finish school and move there, or ask him to move back to Connecticut, or even try to find some way to work out a long distance relationship.  Or even, "how do we make this work?"  Rory didn't do a thing to tell me that she wanted to be with Jess.  That's my reason for not seeing season 6 as proof that they belong together.

I like Lorelai and Luke together.  There were times when I wished that they could just sit down and talk to each other instead of hiding things or asuming things (you know what they say about asuming something, you are probably wrong).  But then, if they did this, there wouldn't have been a show.  Right from day one it was always meant to be Lorelai and Luke together.

If people could throw things at me for what I am about to say, I would be hurting pretty bad after I say this.  I really don't like Logan.  He was too wild, careless and reckless for my liking.  Way to different then Rory.  I know that he did settle down some after his accident and then after losing all of that money, but there was still that rich brat in him that I didn't like.  There I said it.  That is just my opinion on Logan and I know that I am im a small minority who feels this way, but I am allowed to feel the way that I do.

Although I didn't like Jess in the begining, or atleast how he went about taking Rory away from Dean, I did like him after he got his life on track when he went to Philadelphia.  That is the Jess that I would have liked to see Rory with.

Cherilee, there are lots of people who don't care for Logan. I personally couldn't stand him while the show was originally airing and each week i'd think, "is he still here?" But since the show ended i've learned to like or at least tolerate the guy. I like the way his character evolved and i think overall he had a good effect on Rory.

I'm not sure of my favorite couple but Sookie & Jackson rate up there. They were the perfect compliment to each other. Unlike Luke & Lorelai, Sookie & Jackson knew how to resolve their issues fairly quickly by dealing with them out-front. I think it was a learning process for Sookie, who was insecure early on, but once she became more self-confident it helped to cement their relationship. They were one of the few couples on the show who took a relationship all the way, marriage and kids and presumably living happily ever after.

ahh, lulu & kirk are so cute. i remember the episode where kirk has his first date with her & is freaking out.

this is how i feel mostly about logan too. i couldn't stand him season 5 but he took some forward steps, backwards steps, and forward steps again and in the end he was really the only one i could see rory with, for some very odd, unexplicable reason.  Grin

Jim ~ yes, I agree about Sookie and Jackson.  I think that they did have a solid relationship.  They got to have their whole package.
They did have a few problems along the way, but they did get it out in the open and talked about it and got things resolved.  Even though they were both annoying to me a lot, they did know how to work things out.

I liked Babette and Morey, too.  They had a sweet marriage.

I could never come to think that Rory should be with Logan.  Yes, I feel that he did help her to experience life a little more and did help her to mature more what with making her see what is important in life by it not being important to him.  I felt that he was very selfish to just break up with her when she said that she wasn't ready to get married yet.  She still wanted to be with him, but wanted a little freedom to explore her work word a little before settleing down.  He reminded me of Dean when he broke up with her just because she wasn't ready to say she loved him at the same time that he was ready to say it.  They were both selfish in that sense.

*SailorMoonFan*  ~ I think that Lulu and Kirk were made for each other, too.

After all of that, though, my favorite couple is still Lorelai and Luke

I agree with you Cherilee that Logan came off poorly when they broke up. But the writers botched that scene, it was done very poorly, probably part of the mess that came with the ending of the series. She was willing to try a long-distance relationship, but i was fine with Rory going off on her own, chasing her dream and not having to be with a guy to feel complete. I wouldn't pick any of Rory's three major relationships as my favorite, although i was fond of her with Dean in the first season and part of the second and her time with Jess made for good story lines, including all the problems and heartbreak.

I would also put Lane and Zach among my favorites. They were not a couple likely to have the whole package but they did it against all odds.

I really can't stand Jess, but he livened up season 2. I liked him creating trouble for Dean and Rory, the bid on a basket episode is one of my favourites. But I wasn't a fan of the two of them together. Jess sought of summed it up in the Winter Carnival episode when Rory was attempting to get him to go saying "You like town things" and he replies that he pretended to like them to get her, but now that he has her he doesn't need to pretend. Jess attempting to get Rory was funny and didn't seem to be malicious, Jess with Rory was more defensive and snarky. It's probably because they were attempting to write him out and create angst but scenes like the fight at the Friday Night Dinner with Emily and Rory getting upset with Jess at the house party are what stick in my mind.

As to those who dislike Logan, I love him but I can relate. Depending what mood I'm in, watching his early episodes has me gravitating between likeable cad and just arrogant. When Rory assumes she'll be invited to the Seymour Hirsch party I felt so sorry for her. But then I remember him at the end of the Party's Over or in Not as Cute as Pushkin, and I return to liking him.

So if I don't get snarked for this post it'll be a miracle lol since I just directly or indirectly criticised all of Rory's boyfriends....
